was fortunate to drive one of these a couple months ago for the first time, having driven a couple electric cars with ridiculous power, driving one of these reminded me why i love ice cars, just trying to convince the mrs to let me get one of these and maybe a golf r estate as well 😂
@@accelerateyoutube I bought the VXR in 2016 and sold it in May this year. I know VXR's get a lot of bad press but this car was hands down the most reliable car I've owned. I only sold her so that I could fund a J VXR, which I now have. I can't wait to see what you have planned. 👍

Have had my Astra racing ed. since new, brilliant car only had gearbox bearings replaced & thats it. The 444 astras & 444 corsa's were to commemorate Triple Eight engineerings involvement in the successful BTCC cars. Its a shame you are going to mod it (I do understand why for content) as these cars unmodified are getting very rare, not to mention valuable.
Nice one lads. Second astra vxr video I've seen this evening and it stops here because I really like the astra H shape, at times miss my old 1.6 astra and the vauxhall club. Not keen on red and black trim tbh but still cool. Would love a Astra vxr or fn2 type R but can do the running costs tbh (not right now anyway).

@@accelerateyoutube You can relatively easily see 500hp+ with a forged bottom end, fuel system, inlet manifold and big turbo. 4-500hp with a g25-550 is meant to be the sweet spot as it will spool like stock but deliver double the power.

@TheConnord397 piston 4 is a Corsa issue on the 1.6. The stem seals and Gearbox have been done. Also forgot to mention on the video its recently had a Hybrid Turbo 👌. I made sure these were done before I went for one 😂
@@ken_accelerate Yes you’re correct I forgot the piston is corsa stuff. It’s mostly the gearboxes, they must have asked Cadburys to make them for um 🤦🏼
@@ken_accelerate if it's a quality MAF extension (Courtney Sport) you will have zero issues. The eBay ones give problems, people just tar them all with the same brush. You also have major issues when people cut / crimp / solder the stock MAF wires, or stretch them to fit and end up with pins popping out and all sorts, rather than just plugging in an extension. And from experience it's a lot more messing replacing a whole engine loom because someone has chopped yours up and bodged it (I have a video doing just that) than it's worth to save the £15 for a proper extension from Courts.
@accelerateyoutube what, coilovers, exhaust and a remap? You can do that to any car mate. Tell me a unique mod you can do to a vxr that i can't do too my alfa romeo......
@@ken_accelerate what shocks was it on , I'm.not a civic guy but I've driven a type r EP3 and both the astra vxr and the Vectra vxr I would take the civic without any hesitation i'm more of a Renault guy which I realise isn't popular but opinions are like arseholes weve all got one and they all stink 🤣
@VeryMetal01 my ep3 was in BC racing coilovers and my last VXR had a quaffe diff and bilstein shocks if I remember correctly. I couldn't buy another ep3, only sold mine last year. I do like the renaults myself. Did consider a megane RS aswell. It's just the French interior that put me off 😂
@@ken_accelerate fair enough I'm surprised to hear of bump steer on BC coils , I've just put a set on my MK1 TT , also are you saying the astras interior is preferred to Renault's , I mean neither are anything special but well vauxhall ... Really 🤣
@VeryMetal01 yeh it was bad. As soon as you start messing with the suspension on the ep3 they get affected. I'm not saying the Astra has Bentley esque interior 😂, but it just feels a bit better and everything works 😂

I like it ! I have had a few Gsi Astra’s and with a few handling mods they do drive well in my opinion and they do sound nice 👌
Had one of the racing editions a few years back. Remus exhaust sounded immense!
This is mad but this is my old car, owned her for 8.5 years! Will be keeping an eye on your progress.

beautiful car mate love a VXR, my dad has 3. I would advise take off the side skirts and check for rust. Get that wax oiled underneath there

@ZafiraSteve intercooler, lsd, intake, inlet, turbo, rods, ARBs and actually work 🤷♂️😂. The list for mods is endless

Problem is I've owned most cars in this price bracket 😂. My last one was 319bhp, the bump steer on my ep3 was worse than the torque steer on the VXR
