When Jeff Skinner got hammered in front of the bench he just sat there, hoping for a penalty. But it looked like McDavid was trying to get on but couldn't because Skinner sat there. And that's part of the reason Bouchard got left alone. But man, Bouch needs to get that pick out. Yeesh.

For the purposes of interpreting “distinct kicking motion” it is not what may look like a kick but is defined as a motion which propels the puck into the net. Basically inducing energy into the puck propelling it. You can make a motion resembling a kick if the puck is deflected. It’s not about the look of the motion but if the motion propels the puck.

Surgery still postponed so here are some stats. Again, I can't watch the games. What follows is my opinion.
What a positively wretched game. Oh it was high scoring on both sides but the defensive collapse and the goalies inabilities to keep things out of the twine made it like a game of 5 year olds.
Stats analysis: Leon had his 6th consecutive multipoint game. Hyman scored twice then took a slapshot to the face going off until he returned with a full face shield. Hyman got his 200th goal of his career in the 2nd period. Look, this one was ugly on many fronts. Too many penalties, a Bouch cough up less than 3 minutes into the game gives up a shortie, at one point the Oilers were up 4 to 2 and then boom, 3 in a row for Florida then Edmonton got one to tie it up before Verhaeghe got his 9th of the year and no more goals went in.
Oilers had slightly more shots, almost half the hits, won 11 more faceoffs, got a Powerplay goal (so did Florida and they got a Shortie), everything else was pretty much a wash.
Couldn't watch or listen to this one as I was at a Christmas Party. Just going from what I get afterwards. What I think is a team that didn't come to play facing one that decided to play.
    Take care all.

...the OIL self destruct worse than they have at any other time over the last couple of months and FLA can only scrape out a one goal win. Big picture... I wouldn't be too worried.
That said, gotta agree that Knobby could have coached better in that one. The lack of using the time out to re focus the team on playing some defense was on him.

David you should take your HDMI cable out of your cable box and plug it into your laptop instead. That way you can watch on your TV. If you have a wireless mouse you can sit back on the couch with a mouse pad and rewind from there. Not ideal, but might make the viewing experience slightly better.

I love how they keep bringing up the J Skinner contract. I don’t hate the player but he seems to disappear or crumble during playoff style regular season games, what’s going to happen when the actual playoffs roll around? Does anyone see him with the correct skillset for bottom 6? Maybe he just is what he’s always been, a good top 6 winger on a non playoff team… trade bait perhaps?

Refs ruined this one. I don’t get how Florida gets away with it.
Other culprits: ice? If so then some panthers would have fallen too, no?
Bouchard? Stopped at least as many chances as he allowed. I’d say Emberson was a bigger liability.
Skinner? Hasn’t mastered the RVH despite his master tutelage under the legendary Dustin Schwarz. Knob even mentioned his stellar work! Speaking of Knob, why no timeout after 4-3 and Skinner was beginning to meltdown? We all could see how this was shaping up. What about at 5-5 when cautious play would at least have garnered one point? No. Wait until there’s 7 seconds left. Because that’s really enough time to do something surprising. Master strategy.
Ultimately though, Florida is a smarter team and they clearly were saving up for this matchup. Not sure how to beat them.

On the last 2 goals, MacDavid gave the puck up that left Eckholm in no-mans-land for the Reinhart goal.
The Verhaege goal was completely on MacDavid not taking Verhaege who was MacDavid's man.

Legit, if this was 10+ years ago... Bouchard would be getting wrung out by hockey pundits and media for the insanely bad D mistakes he consistently makes. Softer times and Kid Gloves lets this dude Live Action Role Play (LARP) the position of D with a free pass. He's basically a fourth forward on the ice.
I'd bet you money that Nugent-Hopkins could role swap to D and play just as good. If not better down low.
Not to mention the Left side D frequently has to go to his side for puck dump in's. Pure babysitting.

  • @al.grundau9441
    @al.grundau9441 3 дня назад +2

Unbelievable, man….The Oilers totally outplayed the Panthers tonight, but of course, the refs were totally biased, calling all the soft penalties against us. You could see it…every time we had a chance to break through, some random non-call or weak penalty screws us over. It’s ridiculous. If the Oilers didn’t have to play against the refs AND the Panthers, we would’ve crushed them. Florida’s nothing compared to us anyway. Let’s be real, we should’ve won the Cup last year.. but injuries, bad luck, and, yeah, some bad officiating kept us from lifting it. But this year? It’s OUR year. We have the most firepower in the league, and everyone knows it.
And don't even get me started on Calgary losing to Florida too. Can you imagine? They couldn’t even hang with the Panthers, and they still think they’re contenders. Meanwhile, the Oilers are built for greatness. You know the Panthers can’t keep up with McDavid and Draisaitl, so don’t even act like this game means anything. We’re just biding our time until the playoffs, where we’ll show everyone who the real powerhouse is. Florida's just lucky tonight.

Panthers won because they play a more structured mature game, and have more consistent D play, and a way better Goalie. That garbage ball call on the goal was a factor, but just a tiny little one. The usual suspects just didn't deliver when push comes to shove (Both Skinners and Bouchard). Oilers lost because they found ways to lose. Again.
