I drove the Model Y and the Model 3 Highland. I am definitively waiting for Juniper. Highland is a much better build with a nicer slick design. Not to mention it has ventilated seats and that great led around the cabin. Totally worth the wait.

The Juniper 3 improvements are significant. It is likely the Juniper Y will be even better. Folks who keep cars a long time are better off waiting, unless there a need now. Current Y will drop in price significantly when Juniper Y comes out.

What's the big deal with ambient lighting? Who cares?

Being that tesla interiors feel cheap compared to competitors, it actually makes sense to add new visual appeal to their cars. A decent amount of tesla owners that mod their cars add ambient lighting. Not only that but since we got the model 3 refresh, the model y should have the same features to keep up its appeal alongside the model 3.
