- Some behind the scenes photos and video of the large Mother of Pearl desk build from several years ago. Quite a spectacular piece in person and more Mother of Pearl than I've ever used on a single piece of furniture. All the MOP was sourced from Aqua Blue Maui in veneer form.

Absolutely amazing....I wish you had more to show off. I understand work like this takes a lot of time, so, hence there not being a lot of videos.
I was brought here by way of Chris Ramsey and his puzzles.
I saw partially finish "Pirate puzzle desk" and loved it!!!!!!
Beautiful craftsmanship 😍
Thank you.
The desk in my head is a curled up dragon done in a warm caramel wood tone and red and black accents with hidden puzzles (like the desktop having a rotating seal that hides an interior well) that lead to tiny miniature dragon statues. Sadly, I don't have the income for such things. 😊
Beautiful. I'd have asked for black pulls myself. Still, quite lovely.
bling bling! the angled strips do make it look like a mattress pattern or something else plush. Certainly achieved the goal of luxury with this one.
Thanks.
Excellent, great different look
Your work is stunning! I hope I can reach this level of craftsmanship.
Thank you, I'm sure you can all it takes is time and effort.
That drill press with a rotating head looks really useful, basically like a magdrill. What brand is it?
Am I the first comment? Love this channel and a goal in my life it to order from you one day!
Thanks.

Excellent as usual Craig, thank you. And unlike others, I don’t want to order from you one day, I just want to be like you one day 😎👍 tho at 59 I might be running out of time but a bloke can always hope lol
Thanks, I'm sure there's still time, just got to keep pushing and never retire. Might not be worth the sacrifice though.
@@CTFineFurniture well, already retired technically and sadly I just lost my wife to leukaemia very recently so have an awful lot of time on my hands and can’t think of a better aim than to get better with my woodworking. Can’t spend the rest of my life talking to my dog lol
@@philipbyrnes7501 Sorry to hear that Philip, might as well throw yourself into something to keep sane. Woodworking skill improvement is as good a path as any. I'm sure your dog appreciates the attention.
Супер!!!!!
Looks amazing but sure screams "I've got money!"
Just like the client >:P
Well, that might have been the point actually. Thanks.
I hope you know I watch these videos like a school boy. I have learned a ton!
@@davidolundell Thanks David, I've been watching your videos as well, you seem to get a lot done rather quickly as I keep seeing new pieces from you.
Ya but I am no where near your level yet. I probably need to slow down, focus on the details. I really need to step up my filming game. Every time I see your pristine work from building to filming it really motivates me to step it up. Thank you!
Very nice Craig! Hope you're doing well.
Thank you David, I hope you are doing well also!
Love the little tips and tricks. How did you route the corners on the legs? Rabbet bit?
Thanks Brian, just a trim router and a rabbeting bit. And a steady hand. I may have used a point fence or just a slightly curved one in places.
Found you through Chris, Amazin work!! What ever that booklet was in the pirate desk video, I would love a physical copy being an allaround hands on lets-try-this. Ps. Subbed n belled!
Thanks, that is my book on veneering, available through my website www.ctfinefurniture.com and Amazon. The Craft of Veneering.
Definitely not my style of desk, but that is some beautiful craftmanship nonetheless!
Quick question, the knife you have laying on the table at 0:18 what knife is that?
Not mine either but it looks nice and the client is happy. That's all I need to be good. The knife is from a company I did design work for many years ago, I doubt it's still available. It works well and is nicely made, I don't actually recall what the name was and it's not marked with anything so I couldn't tell you any more about it.
You may already know this, but just in case it looks a bit like a knife they use when laying carpet. Craig's looks really nice compared to my rubbishy one, but mine at least takes standard Stanley blades. Cheers, David
