We were deep sea fishing yesterday and there was one red snapper that stayed alive in the fish locker longer than I would have ever figured. Again, I feel your pain.

Sorry to hear that. Yes, they do jump. I had the same thing happened last month. Woke did my morning routine and found my Shusui on the concrete. Good thing it was still breathing. It was bleeding and the tail fin was damaged and barely moving. So I immediately put it back in the pond and helped it breathe with aeration. But it healed up and still with me. I didn’t think it was gonna live. Put a camera bro. Thanks for sharing.
we've had 2 jump out our pond. We lost a platinum ogon, but we were lucky with a gin rin asagi. I went out to the pond, found it on the path, when I picked it up it moved, so I put it back in the pond and it's been OK ever since. Unfortunately it's part of koi keeping.

im sorry that happened bro. thats a big jump. maybe it saw a flying bug that it realllllly wanted or maybe it was a predator that got scared off before it could finish the job. always sad to loose a nice fish. im hoping the fact that my pond has gradually sloped sides may prevent this. even if one jumps out it could be able to flop itself back in atleast I hope so. although I worry about the pigs using it to cool off without a wall around it. ive also had an issue with cane toads so a wall may eventually be a thing. Puna kine problems. lol

That has heron written all over it. One did it to my pond about a year ago. He would come at like 4am and would strike at whatever was in range regardless if he could swallow it or not. He probably tried to get it down but it was to big and they just leave it. Be careful because he will for sure be back and will come back until he gets them all.
Nah he jumped I know he did I don’t have heron problems where I live plus the pond is covered by a sun shade sail… the area where he jumped is where I usually feed them all just one of those normal freakish things koi do!
