All I could think of we'll listening to this wisdom was John 17 and what I believe to be a prophetic rendition by Audrey Assad of this old hymn that was rather aggressive to a song of peace. Thanks, Father Mike! Excellent message on distraction as well as diversity and unity. It's so relevant! I also believe diversity comes in many forms - thoughts, ethnic origins, life experiences, talents, challenges, etc. and that this is not well outlined, generally, on campus "sites" at even the high school level. I really like the approach to unity which God is calling us to and to stay focused on this . Thanks again!
Thank you Father. I needed to hear this. Why is it so difficult to do tasks in silence now? Always the next podcast or video and even if they are terrific, they are often lead to an emptiness at the end of the day. It's hard to start and maintain silence each day to think and pray and open my heart to what 'influences' God wants me to focus on.
Wow! I was so distracted today. At work, had trouble filling out paperwork and had to pull out of daydreams and random thoughts. Come home and stood for several minutes trying to figure out what I was doing. I needed to change my work clothes.
I'm very glad you addressed this thank you so much it's hard for people my age nowadays with all the distractions coz we don't even recognise them as distractions we see it as a norm
The sacraments are what make us this community/communion. The unity comes from being in a state of grace. If that is what we want, we have to be striving toward that state of grace. It is in vain that we try to accomplish this in other ways. The answer is to unite our will to the will of God and then there will be nothing more to argue over.

This so true, not only in the USA, it's happening all over the world, here in my country Malaysia too. So much distractions & division, many deliberately caused by our politicians for their personal gain! Fr Mike is spot on....we the people need to sift out the rubbish & distractions to focus on what unites us to benefit from our diversity! One thing I am thankful for is that the majority in my country still believe in God.
Fr Mike I find that many “catholic”friends are extremely distracted right now by what appears to be a growing number of heresies taking place in our church. Now holy catholic priests are large part of my “influential circle.” However, not from you or any priest in my diocese, can I find clarity. It seems to me that you are obvious to what’s happening in our church! So that is a distraction. I feel like a sheep without a shepherd.
Yo, Alex M, there's a lot going on in the world right now. But there is a Jesuit principle I follow to deal with all the noise and maintain clarity. That is, “Never deny, rarely affirm, always distinguish." That, and remembering from the Mass that it is "our duty always and everywhere to give thanks" to God, keeps me oriented toward Him. I write that because even though people are coming at things from a lot of different and conflicting angles, there is value in all their viewpoints, and they usually have some basis in Truth. So, it is good to listen, but stay skeptical of people who push an "either/or" approach rather than a "both/and." It's not Catholic if it's not "according to the whole" (which is what "Catholic" means). So you can affirm what's true, even while explaining what you do not think you agree with. St. Edith Stein said it best, I think: "Do not accept anything as truth that lacks love." God bless, Alex. I'm praying Mary wraps you in her mantle and brings your needs to her Son.
@@michaeldulman5487 There is no value at all in heresy, and that is what a lot of bishops and priests are promoting today, particularly a certain Jesuit one.
Father thank you!! I am a Canadian currently in a two day discussion (started our political debate) with a young American girl. I am just about to start into the topic of us uniting against tyranny and how the distraction of media keeps us divided. Your video is SO timely!!! I can’t wait to send it to her. God Bless you Father!!! Praise be Jesus Christ ♥️🇨🇦💙🇺🇸🙏🏻
I think that the best advice about politics I've ever gotten was to read each party's platform, do not believe the media, and to look at other countries' freedoms (or lack there of) compared to yours. We can't be lazy when gathering facts. The misdirection provided by the media must be tempered by research and not believing the headlines. Media outlets make money by peddling conflict and misery to the masses, because, when everything is actually going great the news becomes boring. It is when there is conflict that the news is interesting. So, texts and quotes taken out of context is spun into something completely different to bait people into clicking on the story. There are always two sides to a story, go find it and then decide.
phoebe0a thank you those are fabulous tips. Actually a mishap of statements lead me and this lovely young woman to a place of total agreeance politically even though we support opposing parties. And yes I completely agree, if we could just shut the media down for 2 weeks, we’d all be getting along! God Bless
This is so coincidental. I just posted the vine and fig tree quote from Hebrews on my page last night. Along with a comment about us being driven apart by negativity from the political parties that are out there. this sums up what’s been in my heart and mind perfectly.
I love the analogy of the sled dogs coming together with their diverse abilities and strengths to perform one large task. It's so true that we allow other individuals to divide us through what should be our unity through using our diversity. Many of us have allowed fear to reign prominently this past year or even the past 10 years. "Do unto others and you would have done unto yourself" is another item where people have forgotten their life's purpose. Jesus brought together the diversity of his apostles with our Blessed Mother Mary as the first disciple and we should never forget that we have been chosen and called to be disciples and saints to the best of our abilities and stay close to God our father, constantly asking for help to stay on the task He has set before us.
Mike is one of the few priests calling for unity in a time where everyone is polarizing each other and shaming others. God bless

Couldn’t sinners claim “ diversity “ in their own apologetics, though?
Thank you Father Mike, trully "diversity is richness". Only when united as one, as how diverse our body is only few goes in pair yet they work as ONE.
Thank you father. The divisions in the church are very concerning. I have been taught not to be a cafeteria Catholic but everyone seems to have their beliefs, pre Vatican 2 vs post vatican 2. I just want to follow the teachings of the church and for us to be united in His Church. I am very sad for the division. And so I pray.
Father, you truly allow the Holy Spirit to use you. This was so well said, it is a real shame that we can't find priests like you more frequently. Please keep answering the call.
Circle of interest versus influence talk at the beginning of covid changed everything for me! Good reminder ❤
Hello Leslie... How are you doing today...
And I hope you do stay safe due to the pandemic over there.?
All I could think of we'll listening to this wisdom was John 17 and what I believe to be a prophetic rendition by Audrey Assad of this old hymn that was rather aggressive to a song of peace. A call to serve a call to be replanted and purified to lay down our ”rights” our ”entitlments”
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord
You are speaking truth to power, you are laying down our swords
Replanting every vineyard til a brand new wine is poured
Your peace will make us one
I've seen you in our home fires burning with a quiet light
You are mothering and feeding in the wee hours of the night
Your gentle love is patient, you will never fade or tire
Your peace will make us one
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Your peace will make us one
In the beauty of the lilies you were born across the sea
With a glory in your bosom that is still transfiguring
Dismantling our empires til each one of us is free
Your peace will make us one
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Your peace will make us one
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Your peace will make us one
Circle of interest, circle of distraction, diversity is strength (potential liability, asset according to the channel we redirect it....)
So much of wisdom in your words Father! 😍
What are my thoughts? Yes! Thank you Father Mike. You always inspire!
Thank you very much, Father, for all your videos.
That's just what I needed to hear!! Thank you Father!!!
Oof FrMike we need this message to reach THOUSANDS OF MILLIONS 😢 it's so important
I so agree everyone needs to hear this message… ❤
Father mike my dads brother just passed away yesterday please say prayers for him his name is raymond fluet thank you
Fr Mike: I love your videos and the teens I instruct in Confirmation respond to you in such a positive way. God bless you.
You clarified that diversity is good and can also divide us in the must respectful way...thanks father ..keep the fire burning 🔥. .
Thanks Fr. Mike, you nailed it. I needed to hear that today!
Out unity is our strength. Diversity tears us apart.
Amazing message! God bless!!!
Thanks for the video, Fr. Mike!
United we stand ..... and should....
Am requesting prayers for my father
This video needs to be seen by everyone! Love ya Fr Mike!
The sacraments are what make us this community/communion. The unity comes from being in a state of grace. If that is what we want, we have to be striving toward that state of grace. It is in vain that we try to accomplish this in other ways. The answer is to unite our will to the will of God and then there will be nothing more to argue over.
And, also, remind me, of the precise role blood as a covering plays, and why?
@@chrissonofpear1384 But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of his Son Jesus cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7
@@nikigirgus4301 Yes, but why blood? And to appease or ransom to who? Why was Satan owed any access?
@@chrissonofpear1384 the blood of the New Covenant as described in Hebrews 2:14.
“Now since the children share in blood and flesh, he likewise shared in them, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil.”
Satan was given access by Adam and Eve but I wouldn’t say he was owed. I would say that we broke all previous covenants but a blood bond is unbreakable.
Yeeeesss!!! Thank you FR. Mike!
Thank you for uploading a great video Fr. Mike. Greetz from the netherlands.
Thank you for posting this, you could definitely call me distracted lately.
Excellent logical thoughts!
Hello Susan... How are you doing today....
And I hope you do stay safe due to the pandemic over there.?
This so true, not only in the USA, it's happening all over the world, here in my country Malaysia too. So much distractions & division, many deliberately caused by our politicians for their personal gain!
Fr Mike is spot on....we the people need to sift out the rubbish & distractions to focus on what unites us to benefit from our diversity! One thing I am thankful for is that the majority in my country still believe in God.
Another excellent message. Thank you.
Fr Mike
I find that many “catholic”friends are extremely distracted right now by what appears to be a growing number of heresies taking place in our church.
@@michaeldulman5487 thank you for your kind reply and prayers! May God bless His church!
Hello Carrie... How are you doing today....
And I hope you do stay safe due to the pandemic over there.?
So timely to be led by the Hopy Spirit
Holy
Thank you for this. Excellent insight.
Now you got me thinking on distraction.
AMEN.FATHER MIKE
