These videos are meant to be educational and funny, so if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!
0:00 Intro.
0:05 The technician said it looked like silicone that you would use for a shower and the thermostat housing was replaced with another new one and the proper OEM gasket. No more leaks are present.
0:20 A quick look would have saved this customer a trip to the shop. Pretty funny find and the technician didn't mention if his shop charged the customer for this.
0:34 The customer got lucky. The oil pan, pickup tube and oil filter were replaced and the engine runs perfectly and has no issues. The customer had run over a manhole cover and is getting whoever is responsible for the manhole cover to pay for the damages.
0:52 The vehicle was towed away and the customer went to see if they could get it covered under warranty. Not sure what happened after that.
1:04 This happens quite often! The technician tightened the lid and cleaned up the mess of oil.
1:15 Funnel resting on the exhaust manifold caused a burning smell.
1:23 The brake line was replaced and the brakes properly bled.
1:37 The customer said it was an accident.
1:47 No extra info.
1:58 Bottles of perfume in the door making a noise.
2:04 The fuel line was repaired for the 2nd time.
2:12 Good thing nobody was hurt. This could have ended up worse!
2:34 The vehicle also had a brake fluid leak that the customer did not get repaired.
2:45 Waiting to hear back from the person who submitted the clip but not sure as of yet if the engine has any damage (bent valves) or anything as well.
2:54 The mechanic said the customer did $5000 of damages doing the work himself.
3:04 A Saturn Sky that had the auto parts store special on it.

1st: Thank you for *always* giving the metric units as subtitles! You really care for your *international* audience! 🤗
2nd As always: some ppl shouldn't be given cars! It's a pity for the BMW with the unnecessary engine demage at less than 65,000 km without any oil change! It's a waste of resources of all of us.
Sidenote: less than 35 years ago you changed your oil the 1st time at 1,000 km, then according to the service plan.
3rd: Cardboard and "silicone". The idea isn't fundamentally wrong. If you have an oldtimer or a sealing isn't available, the DIY solution is an option. But you must do it right!
Take a thin sheet of sealing material (rubbery paper-like) or thin and high quality leather, cut the shape as precise as possible with a very sharp knife or scalpel or scissor, use a paper template and a pen. Check the fit several times. Then use a special sealing paste out of a tube and apply just a very thin layer of it on both sides of the material.
Soft, soaking cardboard? 🤪
Maybe for 10 to 15 min for reaching your home. But not as a "permanent" solution. 🤭
This channel is out of Canada, where road signs, speedometers, and odometers are all metric. The conversions from miles are for the local audience, too!
1. In Asia services centre many customers refuse to buy manufacturers Engine & Transmission Oil, Brake fluid & coolant by their brand example Honda Toyota BMW etc.
2. They purchased unbranded oil, brake fluid & coolant for cheap service at their dealership (qoute customer bought their own oil no warranty coverage) ... couple thousand km engine knocking & transmission jerking service centre refuse warranty.
3. Even so they service at dealership.
If you wanna used unbranded oil/fluids check it's suitable for your engine or not (study before buying).
No problem! 😊

Well, not much space in most asian countries for Tesla-style ripoffs going "The manefacturer's legal contract compels us to only use brutally upsold parts".
For the same Tesla is actually more popular in Ukraine than in Poland or Germany: Not a single shop cares about the Tesla parts upsell scam, no EU enforcement of the scam against the government, everybody just sources their parts from wherever, or just self-manefacture. Much cheaper to have one as a result.

He just kept adding them. The aerodynamic drag from all this garbage looked insane.
I’m from MA, I’ve seen a 9th gen Accord and an XV30 Camry like that
I've seen plenty of those in RI
stickers add horsepower though. Didn't you know that? Why do you think race cars always have big stickers?
In my area (South-Eastern Ontario, Canada), there was a guy with a PT Cruiser similar to that but with flames, flaming skulls, etc. - one of the tackiest cars I've ever seen.
Actually over 35mph, pressure drag exceeds frictional surface drag. So as long as the accessories kept the driver Super Saiyan, it's all good.
Well nobody ever told me that I was supposed to change the oil! HAHAH
Even the car tells you
with all the money not spent on oil changes, ya can afford a new motor right ??
@@practicalplinking6133 So that's the trick to owning a BMW! Never do maintenance on it and you'll save enough money for a new car. Brilliant!
I'm an old guy had many many cars in my lifetime, some 300,000 miles, always change my oil religiously. My reward is I've never replace an engine or had any kind of engine problem with any of these cars, changing oil is the best insurance for your car engine.

In most cars you need to put the snake in to get rid of mice but standard issue in Shelby Cobras and Dodge Vipers.
I'm often impressed by the confidence people have in their ability to repair or modify their own vehicles. And then dumbfounded that they thought what they did would actually work.
I only have one car, i can't afford to mess it up so anything more complex than topping off fluids, and replacing bulbs and fuses i leave to the professionals.
It would be nice to have a spare car that I could learn and practice with, but im not there yet.
Its really fun and an experience. I bouaght an old audi A3 together with a friend last year, primarily to use it for Low Budget Ralley (like CarbageRun). We both have no idea about cars, but since then managed to change the Thermostat, Oilpan, do an Oilchange and Cooling-Fluid change, and some bodywork, while also installing a spare battery. Its really fun to learn this stuff by doing it yourself with just an old handbook and some googlesearches, though we are often more like 2 chimps hitting rocks together i think
@@Dominik-rp2be that sounds like a good project. And it's a nice way to spend some time with a good friend.
That’s what you do is get another car to get work just in case the other car’s one weekend repair takes a week or two because you don’t want to rush or break things and you might be giving the wrong parts or the new parts fail instantly, many jobs that seem simple can turn into a nightmare quickly, like breaking bolts off or not having the right tool.

If we learn anything from these videos is the old DIY days are over. I'm a retired 35 year auto mechanic and diesel mechanic. Recently bought a late model car, looked under the hood, I decided if I ever had a problem with this car I would take it to a qualified mechanic. I guarantee if will be done right by a qualified mechanic. You are going to save lots of money, because if you do it yourself and screw it up, the mechanic is going to charge you to undo your mistake, and charge you do the repair correctly.
I used to be a master certified mechanic, back in the day of carburetors, when electronic ignition was new. I quit doing anything, besides oil changes, brakes, and front end parts, long long ago.
I think a lot of us are in that same boat with these newer cars. ☹️

Using nature to fight nature. There's nothing more practical than that! 😀
Already looking forward to seeing a LOT of these in the end of year best of video!😂
That BMW has an N55 engine and it's #6 rod bearing is VERY susceptible to infrequent oil changes. They're known to spin that bearing and you should change the oil more often than BMW recommends, use proper long life rated synthetic oil, avoid jackrabbit starts and fast cornering that will reduce oil pickup from the pump. If you're smart, you'll have your shop change all the rod bearings when you go in for an oil pan gasket leak around 100-120,000 miles since the real expense is getting the oil pan off. The bearings aren't much more to do. Ask for ARP bolts to replace the factory rod bolts, they'll torque more accurately.
how do we screw up the simplest things? weve been making bearings like that for what, a century? and now ze germans cant keep theirs alive unless the oil is changed every 3 weeks... sometimes we move backwards.
Even easier, don't buy a BMW
I love the way these clips always end with a classic or a professionally done resto-mod - love them!
If you're ever in a pinch for a gasket, you can use an old school manilla folder. It'll last a lot longer than cardboard! A trick I learned from a civilian counterpart when I was a vehicle mechanic in the Air Force.

Left-Right confusion syndrome is pretty common and not dangerous. Visual queues like signs and map directions are no issue. It’s usually verbal instructions that get mixed up. If my partner says “turn left” will very confidently take the right turn sometimes. Is annoying as hell lol. Having the L and R notes on the dashboard are very helpful. You can drive safely with this condition
And on the passenger side like that I would say it's for the benefit of the passenger giving directions.
There is a lot going on with that last car.
I’m following this channel from Western Europe. I’m finally glad that here we have a yearly mandatory technical control of our vehicles (starting around 4 years old for cars, or as from the first day for heavy trucks). Germany is one of the more exigent, but they also allow you to drive without speed limit on some highways. I’m a DIYer and take care of all my toys, but I have been rejected for my trailer that had a brake activation problem that I did not notice. I also remember in the 80’s that we were used to do the yearly check in Belgium, but in France it started only in 1992, and before that date you could see some garbage on the road.
Always look forward to these!
