This will be a very hard task to take on. The Military, Zanu pf and China have worked hand in hand to cover up where the money went. As a Zimbabwean I'm disappointed and angry.
That is why they dislike doing business with the US. Leaders cannot get their hands on the donations. The US completed with Heroes Acre project without allowing the government access to the funds. This is why the Zimbabwean leaders prefer China and Russia because they give them direct access to the monies for projects.

I thought I was the only one who noticed. When wikileaks exposed the US on the Iraq war, it was unacceptable and an attack against American Infrastructure and National security but Mediapart claims to be doing god's work since it's against the chinese.
I don't understand what this has to do with China. Before China came, American and European companies were also mining in Congo. Will they and the family of the former Congolese president be innocent? Businesses pay for land and mining happens anywhere. I'm having a hard time to relate the title to the content of the video. The title seems to suggest that the Chinese government somehow has involvement in this but turned out only one guy that was ever mentioned. This Du Wei guy also seems perplexing. As mentioned, he wrote a paper back in university which basically complaining about the unscrupulous practice of Chinese companies conducting business in Africa but eventually becoming the very guy that he ought to not become? Please revise your story Mr. Editor.
1) When Chinese companies signed the infrastructure deal worth 6 billions dollars with DRC, Chinese ambassador announced it.
2) You need to understand that when it comes to international trade like this, companies are protected by their government. So yes, Chinese government sat at the table, just like the US does with American companies.
There is no way that guy acted alone. He definitely had strong backers in mainland China.

The Americans owned Tenke Fungurume Mining, the biggest mining company in Katanga province. They ended selling it to Chinese!!

My question is, the western countries had invented in the mining sector for 32 years when the president Mobutu was in the power, what they have done? Which industry they had constructed? I m not make an excuse for the President Kabila, however, I am saying they all the same. What thing I know Kabila invited in Congo and hire Congolese.

A more accurate acronym would be the DRC, not simply Congo, which is used to refer to the Congo Republic (often called Congo-Brazzaville) a different nation altogether. The DRC is rarely referred to as simply Congo for this reason (though Americans do seem to prefer using the name Congo on its own, even though that name refers to two countries and one region (the Kongo region which includes Angola).
The DRC is technically different from Congo ,given that in the present day, the name Congo alone is used to refer to Congo-Brazzaville rather than the Democratic Republic of the Congo whose acronym is used to prevent confusion with the former.
We congolese almost always refer to our country, DRC, simply as Congo. When referring to the other Congo we usually just say Brazza which is short for Brazzaville.

I am Congolese and we refer to it as Congo all the time. The guy above told you that and you still insist on saying otherwise. It causes no confusion to either Congolese nations. There are many ways to label it, some idiots still refer to it as Zaire because they think Mobutu's era was much better. While I see it as nothing but an oppressive regime with a puppet backed by the West who was eventually ousted when he lost favour. Others call it "RDC" in French but many simply say Congo. No one uses Congo to refer to Congo-Brazaville. Since most of the problems such as wars for over 60 years usually occurs in Congo, DRC.

None of the previous politicians have Congolese origins. They were outsiders from Central Africa and Rwanda who rose to the top through callous practice of murdering the ones who raised them to that position. It is only after sone 60 years since Lumumba that we actually have a Congolese president at the helm. All these other guys weren't Congolese except Lumumba who was from the Kasaï region. It's ironic that the current president who is democratically elected is also from Kasaï.

Allowing the Chinese to trade their natural resource in exchange of over 3 billion dollars worth of infrastructure??? That is insane!!! Why didn't the government of Kabila at the time just trade and mine for themselves by first inviting experts to train the congo government on how mining such resources can be done. It's that simple!

We Africans are our own enemies since time in memorial ! We forget that we can still enrich ourselves all along while improving our lives. Steal the money but build the roads and make toll ways,build the hospitals but inflate the prices, employ our relatives but have to be qualified! I see this working in Asia! Coz let's be honest, money is always going to turn someone's head but why not eat but help!
