I'm a big Roy Rogers fan I've watched a lot of Roy's movies and I have to say this one is probably the best acting by Roy in any of his other movies. A great story set in 1861 so no cars and horses. I think this is one of Roy's best.
Probably one of the darker Rogers films I've seen . Well written and acted. I will add that the title for this movie is misleading , doesn't really have much to to with the theme of the movie at all.
Stuart Hamblen who plays the bad guy Val McBride was a singing cowboy himself and wrote and recorded the gospelsong "It is No Secret", wich was also recorded by Elvis Presley.

I thought it was great. And, yes he was starting to actually act instead of just the strong silent type.

Other than Roy was from Arizona selling horses in Missouri as the Civil War politics began.
