I think my voice is not monotone but I still need to practice more and be mindful of the stress words and use higher pitch there.
Can you suggest how we can identify the stress words in a sentence?
It's lovely to see you again. Thanks so much ❤

Thank you Hadar, I love all the details you try to add to every video. If I don't pay attention or I feel nervous, not only do I speak monotonously, but also I lose control on the accent.

Incredible! Despite being a native English speaker I've been monotonous most of my life, it's something I've been trying to work on though and vids like this definitely help. I've still got a lot of work to do before I've mastered speaking melody, just switching between high and low pitches seems to put strain on my throat :(.

My tone used to sounded flat, because, but since i started to use the shadowing technique with you and other you tubers, i noticed that when i speak in English, i sound more musical. I still have a long way to run but, at least i feel that i have improved a lot thanks to your tips. Again, thank you so much.

I grew up in Sweden speaking Swedish as my 1st language, but was fluent in english from a young age. I moved to the US almost 20yrs ago and am married to an American. Even after all these years I still get the occasional 'whats that accent' question. It used to REALLY bother me and make me self conscious, but nowadays I just brush it off with a 'yeah it come out every now and then'. However.. after someone asked me about my accent last night (I seriously can't hear my own accent when I speak! and have never really understood how some people pick up on my accent within minutes of me talking!!?) I decided to record myself (reading back some of the words, sentences and lines you have in your videos).. AND I now realize my problem isnt my pronunciation of things..its the lack of pitch changing. I never realized how monotone my voice can be in english 🤭

Thank you so much. I watched the video at full speed the other day, and I heard the changes in intonation, especially the contrast between higher and lower pitches but this time around, watching at half the speed, I really caught the pitch and felt like I started noticing when my pitch is high and when it's low. I used to be totally clueless when it came to controlling my pitch, then I'd change it radically, not really knowing how to control it correctly but now I think I might end up learning how to do it. I'm so excited about the fact that I might start sounding a lot more American I and possibly could start sounding better in my native Finnish 'cause I could finally start using the right intonation patterns again.
You should definitely make more videos on the English pitch. I mean exercise videos, not necessarily videos where you explain what the pitch is, rather like a series of videos where you first explain what pitch is (this video) and then on the following videos, you could make you memorize phrases. I really recommend you to check out NachoTime's Channel on RUclips. I think he uses a good memorization technic you could start putting in your videos. He made me start memorizing phrases and now it's almost impossible for me not to repeat everything I hear. I've learned probably thousands of phrases and I've activated some old ones that I used to understand but that I never used myself.
Here's a very good example of how his memorization exercises work. ruclips.net/video/sD3LC69Mo00/видео.html
    The way he does it:
First he tells you something about Spanish or language learning in general. Then when he tells something important, an "exercise icon" appears on the screen showing that the following sentence is going to be repeated from memory.
#1 First you try to repeat the whole sentence. #2then for the second repeat, you're given some words so that you can remember the rest. #3 then you're asked to repeat the phrase one last time.
I've noticed my ability to speak Spanish and memorize phrases skyrocket thank to this very easy exercise. It's also improved every single language I speak. My Spanish intonation has gotten much better too. I really hope you check the video out and give it serious though. You don't have to speak Spanish to see what he is doing. :)

My pronunciation and linking are good but I still have this problem. When I speak fast, i forget to think about the 'staircase'. And sometimes I feel like I'm fake, when I actually follow the right intonation pattern ! I really need to master this part !

Another great video with crucially important content, thank you! I wish my students understood the real importance of intonation in American English. Most Hungarians are too shy to change their pitch(we don't do it in our native language) and they sound soooo flat. You have such a beautiful voice, could you sing more in the videos, please :)?

You were great, thank you! I am still struggling with not knowing which tone to use with the words, almost as if I talk without really know what I will say next
