Back in the day, we all carried little tape recorders around to record ideas into; vocal stuff, melodies, guitar, and horn lines. So one day I came up with the bass line to Word Up, and eventually Candy, Single Life, and Flirt. Anyway, I went to Larry with the idea, like I always did, and the rest is history. What happened after was certainly groundbreaking. Larry's dexterity with sounds, especially the drum sounds on that record, was revolutionary and evolutionary. To have a record like Word Up make such an impact in the music business, not just black music, or pop music, but ALL music is indeed an honor and privilege. I remain proud of being an integral part of its creation.

The Word Up album was sonically perfect. It had that "digital sound" & a futuristic vibe. Still stands up when you play it.

" Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stay these couriers from the swift completion of their appoint rounds " " We deliver for you " The funk , thank you Cameo . I know if you can go back in time and get Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable it would have made the band even greater . May the funk be with you .
