A band I was in in the early 90s toured on the same bill as Eek-Mouse's band across the midwest. We also did a great show together one summer afternoon at Princeton University. I don't know the Marley's, other than the music they have produced, but EeK-a-Mouse is as real as you see him here. I'll never forget seeing him on the side of the stage, giving me the thumbs up. Bless up Eek-A-Mouse wherever you are blood.

Eek-A-Mouse! I have watched each and every video of him, from songs and concerts to even his interviews. Unfortunately I couldn't find much new and up dates about him. I feel sorry for the world that they don't know his music. This man is real!! He is A True LEGEND.

This is a killer music. Brilliant. I was lucky to meet Eek-a-Mouse in Kingston in 1981 or 82 while there with Majestics recording with Lee Perry at Dynamic. Our dear friend Mike Cacia had taken us over to Joe Gibbs (I think) where he was picking up some dubs. Eek was there and introduced himself to us. We had not yet heard of him. He sang Ganja Smuggling for us acapella on the fire escape while we waited for Mike. I'll never forget that. What a sweet and generous man. IMHO Eek is one of the true innovators in Reggae music. All the best to you Eek-A-Mouse. Maximum respect.

In my recent visit to beautiful Jamaica I got to see how neglected Tuff Gong studios are I mean it almost looked abandoned. You can tell the real money makers for the Marleys is the house on Hope road which is filled with hustlers on the parking lot waiting to take advantage of tourists. And then the house on Nine Miles with admission prices so high that the average Jamaican can't even afford! The commercialization of Bob Marley is disgusting and not a Rasta thing at all. They have made Bob Marley the Mickey mouse of Jamaica. When I go back to Jamaica I won't be going to any of the Marley places. Too much bling bling has blinded Bob's seeds!

Because...out of a good and strong root can come rotten wood. Robert Nesta Bob Marley was never a selfish person or live for him self. He was share a lot and take care for a lot of people. He wouldn't accept that what his family is doing with his legacy now. He is not responsible for that. He left all that...he never make a will... Just to see what's going on with the people around him.... Now he knows what happened.

Also i agree with you that Scientist gets no credit for his contribution to reggae music...at the time his sound should have been the future...if you listen to the music coming out of Jamaica now there is no quality...the sound is flat..and now we have artist singing off key and get famous with it.

Scientist killed reggae music when he left the island bereft of engineering and production skills. The year that Scientist left Jamaica the music died. The man gets no credit, this is the truth. Look at how the system of production was passed on: Island Records, Studio One, Dynamics, Kind Tubby's, Jammy's, Chemist / Scientist Productions, Channel One, the end. Jammy's survived into the 80's but really it comes down to King Tubby's having trained Jammy and Scientist who hold the skills to produce killer Miller hits. Of course, Lee Perry was his own independent force that no one was able to follow.

The relationship between two of Jamaica's most talented brothers in a industry struggling to stay alive, is worth far more. I've heard Lincoln "Sugar" Minott (R.I.P.) live on stage here in Miami, say the same thing. When Jr.Gong allegedly gave him (Eek-A-Mouse) a "pocket money", thats where he went wrong at. Instead of using correct judgement, he used his emotions, and went with their good name. In business, there's no room for emotions. If he was on his business game, he would have had some papers drawn up. The Marleys Im SURE, know all about contracts. They exploited his ignorance of the contract. That is what most of the "industry" does to both young and old artists, that never learned the business. Reggae artists and producers are always being exploited. The BUSINESS and the MUSIC form, have a fairly young relationship. Peace.

Hi Jules L, Scientist is not at fault for killing the reggae in Jamaica when he left...I would blame King Jammy's for that in 1986 when he and the late Wayne Smith put out the sleng teng riddim that's when the music start to water down...and you have 20 artist voicing on the same riddim...no creativity, that's when the problem starts. Scientist and Jammy's were student of the late great King Tubby's. Both very good at what they do..but Jammys chose the easy way out and sell out. Gone are the days when live musicians play the music..the computor thing mash it up. Big up Scientist in America i still enjoy the great hits he mix until this day.
