I feel like I've joined a little club or focus group of students or spectators who are watching one demo after another, done by good artists all having a go with these pencils.🤗 It's very exciting to see people with technical skill and experience having that first encounter, and then producing something suited to demonstrate what the pencils will do. It is certainly making me more determined to get a set for myself eventually and try my beginner's hand at some basic sketches of trees, fields and sky. These have always fascinated me; I love watching a good artist producing a nature study. It certainly motivates me to improve my skill at drawing trees. 🤗
I love these pencils, they lay down so nicely and blend. The colours are great but yes I wish there was more. The white is so opaque, probably one of the best whites in my opinion.
What do you mean not a beautiful green??? lol All those colors are absolutely magnificient! :p Yes they do sell open stock, at least at Cult Pens, I don't know from stores in U.S. Have fun with these, I use them all the time for the leafs and the wood... They are so beautiful.
These are beautiful earthy colors. I really like the thick core and they go down so nice. I promised myself no more pencils but I don’t know if I can keep that promise. lol
Hey Karen i have a small set of these. I only really got them bcause i've always loved the white. Particularly when there was a shortage of the Prisma white.I keep forgetting all about them. I'll go and dig them out. Thanks for giving me a shout out. UK weather.lol. its still the same, but set for showers at the weekend. Never thought i would be happy to get rain.x😘🌞😘
Hi Karen! I swatch just like you do, I like big spaces and I love using my Caran de’Ache blender…because it gives your pigment that smooth rich look, and the more pigment the smoother and richer the colors look…Thank you Karen for swatching these gorgeous pencils, I haven’t had a chance yet and what’s up with this 24 set, Derwent always has 72 sets, at least! I realize they’re drawing pencils but come on Derwent!
Great pencils xXx Yes a bigger assortment of colours please, would be wonderful. Derwent has changed it's management not too long ago, you never know, we could get lucky xXx Wonder how they work on your drafting film? Feel a test video coming on :)
Love these pencils..they are so incredible creamy and soft 🤩🤩🤩the pencils have very good lightfastness from blue wool scale, 8 is the highest rating, 23 pencils have 8 and only one pencil (ink blue) have 7
NICE, so are these actually for coloring or for sketches? I’ve been watching some videos on watercolor techniques and some artists use these instead of a graphite pencil.
They are for both Yazmin! They aren’t water soluble though so I’d be interested how the watercolor artists use them. These are smooth and creamy and perfect any way you want use them.
Karen what is the difference in the drawing pencils you have and the Derwent Lightfast Colored Pencils because they have large sets of the colored pencils?
From what I understand Barbara they are very different but because I don’t own the lightfast I can’t tell you the differences other than the colors. These are much more muted colors than any others that I have. Also I’ve heard that the Lightfast pencils need to be used on their own because they don’t play well with others. I don’t know if that’s true on all paper though as I don’t own them as I said before. 😊
The lightfast are oil based and these are wax based! Both are light fast according to derwent. The pencils in the derwent drawing set -24 are all rated 8 except for ink blue which is rated 7 but anything above 6 is considered lightfast.
I've been coveting them for quite a long time, but the fact that they only have 24 colors is what's been stopping me from buying them. I am hoping they come out with at least a 48 colors set.
They are such wonderful colors Isabelle. I just use them as compliments to my other sets. I never use only one brand of pencils at a time so it works for me. 😊
Theese color nearly full package can use in portrait for warm tones landcrape drawers likes tones but it's wax based. Oil based better for details. Genaraly peıples likes Vibrant color but they are natural autumy earth tones. That must be reason of unpopularity

Karen, your excitement is contagious. Love your videos!
Awww. Thank you Mary!!❤️❤️❤️

They really do!! I wonder if Derwent would listen if we all wrote to Derwent and requested another set of 24 more colors??😂
@@ArtbyKarenValentine I think if they did more flesh tones in this range that would be amazing!
Great timing, I just purchased these pencils. 😊 Thanks for the video. 🎨🎨
Oh have fun with them Deb!!!😊

Gorgeous set of colors! Are they oil or waxed based?
I believe they are wax based Diane. 😊
I really wanted to get these. They are on my list for sure - hopefully one day haha
