in his third meinl festival video clip dave mackintosh plays dragonforce's title "heroes of our time". enjoy this one and as usual, stay tuned for more.
Definitely an underrated player back in the day. Not massively technical but man, playing with that speed and intensity for a full show is a seriously tough gig!
Glorious! Dave is way underrated. People try to say he sucks because they don't like the band but when i see this it just blows my mind at how crazy good he is. If the haters could see this they would change their mind. Love Dave and Dragonforce!
That was absolutely fantastic. Even those who don't like DF have to admit Dave is an incredible drummer (and really cool dude too, met him at two concerts).
+hunter affleck Not really that fast in the world of drumming. George Kollias, Flo Mounier, Francesco Pauoli, heck, even the great Virgil Donati's faster.
Dave Mac is God !! He hits with Power and he WILL BE BACK in D-Force ,..I guarantee it ! It takes ridiculous stamina and commitment to tour with D Force and their new guy doesn't hit with the kind of power that Dave delivers ,... D Force will figure it out over time - You don't Lose a Dave Mac - He doesn't Quit and you don't Fire him !! You keep a Dave at all cost !! or the band is soon finished ,.. Losing ZP was bad enough -
I agree, Dave hits it hard, his passion is more obvious than Gee's. Gee is an amazing drummer, so I'm completely ok with Gee replacing Dave. They're both great, but being a drummer myself I can see Dave's passion with each hit.
Yeah the new dude doesnt hit with as much power as Dave but drumming isnt about banging the shit out of cymbals and heads theres a technique to playing, the new guy has a lot of talent yeah he may not be a show man like dave but drummers arent frontmen we are the back bone of the band
Every once and awhile, I come back to remind myself why I have Dave as the 3rd best drummer of all-time (personal list) behind Neil Peart and John Bonham.
@dozdesign hey! Well first of all what i meant about saying that the beater is in the opposit way is that the beater head is downward ,could you see it?isn`t it? and I never used tabs so I just understand regular scripture on staffs, anywayhow long have you been playing drums? where? how old are you?what`s your music style?which ones have you studied?what do you do? do you play? do you teach? do you study? cheers!!! GBU
@Jellyboi911 I'm assuming you've never heard his work in Bal-Sagoth? I loved Jimmy's work on drums/keyboards since STST. His creativity is boundless! Mackintosh is a "percussionist".
@dozdesign hey bro! how`re you doing? well,i didn`t understand what you said but I just can say that Dave is awesome ,he is using triggers to do the bass drum sound instead of those wich has in front of him, isn`t he? I can clearly see the beater placed in the opposite way
@nupraptorspillar true what you said, but i went to abigger venue and still was using them, people do have to understand that beside great music and great hands, the guy just doesn't have really great footwork, and needs triggers to ligtly tap them to keep up with his drumming. If it was like that why people like john Tempesta, and Dave lombardo never use triggers, no matter the venue? If you use the correct microphone setting, no matter the venue the drum will sound just fine.
I can tell from the movement of his legs that he's doing double strokes on the bass drum (Heel/Toe Technique) interesting. Did he do that on all the Dragonforce Albums when he was their drummer?
He started Practicing it so he could do it on the Ultra Beatdown tour. I got a chance to talk to him at a show and he said he was tired of just muscling through all the double bass heels up.
In the studio he would do heel up, even after he learned heel toe. I read that he broke his foot and learned heel toe in ONLY 2 weeks, so he could still play.
As much as Id love to agree, they each are there own different styles, as for playing quality they are generally equal, for example, Mike Portnoy's Dream Theatre drumming song Under a Glass Moon focuses on offbeat 6/4 rhythmic patterns and many others included, Jimmy (The Rev) on the other hand had a very heavy hand for example Almost Easy or Demons even Critical Acclaim or Unholy Confessions for example, the difference is between these and Dave are their styles, these 3 guys are my favourites:)
I think should let their fans choose who gets to play at the drum festival. Meinl is starting to get a lot of young talent that needs that push to get out there. There are a lot more drummers on the meinl roster that are way better and a lot younger. NEXT YEAR CAMERON LOSCH!
If you watch from their early days, Dave does heel up. Heel toe, if used correctly, can help out MAJORLY on your leg/feet stamina. Especially when you're playing hour shows at 200+bpm tempos.
Dave Makintosh has got to be one of the most underrated drummers I have ever seen, he deserves more credit for the pure talent he has
one of the best drummers in the metal industry and you never hear about him
I heard that if you cut Dave Mackintosh, he'd leak motor oil.
Motor oil🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I honestly believe this lol
one of the best drummers EVER, shame he left dragonforce
Definitely an underrated player back in the day. Not massively technical but man, playing with that speed and intensity for a full show is a seriously tough gig!

We miss you Dave and ZP!!
Glorious! Dave is way underrated. People try to say he sucks because they don't like the band but when i see this it just blows my mind at how crazy good he is. If the haters could see this they would change their mind. Love Dave and Dragonforce!

Dace Mackintosh is not HUMAN !
5:23 to 5:37. WTF WAS THAT. I COULDN'T EVEN SEE HIS FREAKING HANDS WHEN HE'S GOING THAT FAST!!!!
+hunter affleck Not really that fast in the world of drumming. George Kollias, Flo Mounier, Francesco Pauoli, heck, even the great Virgil Donati's faster.
Well To me he is. Cause he was in my favourite band. Dragonforce. He shouldn't of left.
Not the fastest but he has stamina
Dave Mac is God !! He hits with Power and he WILL BE BACK in D-Force ,..I guarantee it ! Sorry man,i love Dave but Gee is the better drummer,no questions asked
***** Gee is one of the best drummers i have seen, i like Dave better though
I agree, Dave hits it hard, his passion is more obvious than Gee's. Gee is an amazing drummer, so I'm completely ok with Gee replacing Dave. They're both great, but being a drummer myself I can see Dave's passion with each hit.

Dave Mackintosh for life!! NO ONE CAN DO THIS LIKE HE CAN!!!
may not be what genre meinl fans at this particular event wanted to see, but dave's got buckets of skill in his style. GO DAVE =D
The real power of dragonforce music
you took the words right out of my mouth!
Dave!!! What the fudge?? Dude ur a beast & a cool cat too :)
Pleasure hearing & hanging bro!
I don't think people have a problem with Dave, it's the guitarists. Dave is probably the most consistent of all of them
Dave Mackintosh - Hero of our Time
NOBODY ever can copy THIS master of drums. N O B O D Y
I'm so happy this is back on RUclips so I don't have to watch it on Daily Motion.

Dave ''AK47'' Mackintosh
Those fills are pretty awesome not gonna lie
@vellron and if he was using real bass drums, why aren't the heads resonating?
@nupraptorspillar true what you said, but i went to abigger venue and still was using them, people do have to understand that beside great music and great hands, the guy just doesn't have really great footwork, and needs triggers to ligtly tap them to keep up with his drumming.

You wouldn't get to the verse 1
this guy so fucking madness!!
@mcwiggles1213 and what about his arms?
Mackintosh is SERIOUSLY underrated.
I can tell from the movement of his legs that he's doing double strokes on the bass drum (Heel/Toe Technique) interesting. Did he do that on all the Dragonforce Albums when he was their drummer?
