I owned three Pintos , they were good tough , reliable and economical cars. Well the Lima 4 anyways the rare V6 ones were nothing to write home about.
I got my license in 81 and there was plenty of used Pintos on the market for cheap. One of the three was a auto and did not keep it long as 4 cylinders autos back then were real dogs. In fact me and my wifes first family car was a Pinto Wagon. We drove it about 3 years ( with no issues) before I could afford to buy something newer with AC and automatic.
One of my older brothers had Vegas and I can tell you the Pinto was a wayyyyy better car than the Vega. Those Vega motors would grenade if you stared at them for too long. Another brother had a Gremlin and that was another good economy car of the time but loading the rear hatch was a PITA.

My dad owned a Pinto for quite a while. Really glad I didn't know about it's tendency to burst into flames until much later. (I was a little kid at the time) Ford could try to hype how it didn''t feel that small all they want, but when I was 8, we (Mom, Dad, me, and my 6yo brother) went on a trip from the Detroit area to Ft Pierce FL one year. I tell you that back seat was very cramped with two small kids and whatever stuff we brought that didn't fit in the trunk. This car did not come with AC, so not only were we cramped, we were hot driving down south in the middle of summer. Despite all that, it got us to our destination and we had a great time. so that's one reason why I can recall this trip so well after over 40 years.

Love how they used a British Austin/Morris 1100/1300 for the small car. - They were, - but a very cleverly packaged design.

Pintos are one of my favorite cars having owned and maintained 2 of them. BTW that is a 1976 Pinto in the ad. That was the only year they used the checker board square grill. Anyway thanks for sharing.
