That "thing" ur looking 4 is 👑 Mori way of making u feel the emotion of any songs she sings. She embodies it. There's a lot of belters out there & "performers", but when u feel the song... I think it’s Mori ability to connect to the song that sets her apart from other singers. Katrina and Mori are both phenomenal however I connect with Morissette more. Mori to me is the complete package with many strengths. Katrina to me has a bigger upper register (her strength) than Mori but Mori has the complete range of both upper and lower registers. Either way it’s a win win no matter what singer is singing because both are stellar.

I love and respect all our Filipino singers, and yes Katrina is amazing in her own right! But seriously, Morissette is definitely my favorite vocalist in the world! I think what she has is that deep emotion when she performs. Her personality comes out and she’s just the complete package. Besides the fact that she has a huge range, she knows how to use it. Call me choosy when it comes to liking a singer especially Filipino singers. I've never been a fan of Filipino singers (considering I am a Filipino but grew up in the U.S. so I was exposed to Western music primarily). That all changed when I heard Morissette! I think it was Akin Ka Na Lang that drew me to her music. I was really impressed of how extremely talented Morissette and yet she's so down-to-earth, kind and humble. And I became doubly impressed when I realized she is such a versatile singer who is capable of singing all kinds of music from different genres. Thus, that's my backstory.

Absolute master at work! The broadway style is in keeping with the style of the song from the movie where it's also very grand, big dress on a stage scene. "The thing" with Morissette is her abilities to tell a story, convey emotion and incredible sense of music. She almost always makes a very fitting choice of colour and inflection. Add to that her incredible range, tone and control. She will always hold a special place in my heart.
yeah they're both amazing singers but its so obvious that mori has the bigger range, and only mori can do the vocal break as you said, thats why she's unique, but katrina's voice is given, so many filipinos can do sing like her..

Though for me "live Morissette" is just as good "studio-recorded Morissette" in terms of vocal capacity, listening to "studio-recorded Morissette with the voice layering, reverb, etc (except auto-tune though) has it's own perks over the live version. To get a listen of it, do try checking it out from her channel where she has dropped a new recorded single just this November 27th. Mori has more depth and emotionally connected to a song. Katrina is more on powerful vocals, stamina, endurance, runs and without breathing for a few seconds.

As far as I know, her range starts at C4-D8 Idk how many octaves are there but, it's pretty much it. It was from the compilation of Morissette's video from her lowest to her highest. And they say she can go up to 5.7 octaves and 2 notes it's archaic but, no sufficient proofs how far she can go now.

Katrina is Awesome but Morissette Storytelling abilities are superior and can do other genre of music from pop to jazz in multilingual mode she sings Korean Tagalog her native tongue Bisaya/Cebuano Spanish English with ease
If I may, I think the "it" could possibly have less to do with her vocal prowess and more of her understanding of the song, it's purpose and then her ability to put that into the vocals. Whenever she performs I usually feel like she wrote the song herself.
Katrina is a power belter. Morissette is also, plus everything else a singer and an artist needs to have. I like Katrina also, but Morissette just makes an emotional mess out of me. I'm here watching your reaction again, and you're right: Morissette has the wider vocal range in the Philippines, according to some people.
I love Katrina Velarde. But...Morrissette's tone is bigger. But... Katrina voice is more agile than Morrissette's. Geeez...they are both so good. I love them both. Ma'am Whitney, you also have to watch Jona (a contemporary of Morrissette) they would sing duets on a Filipino TV show and they can really sing. Jona studied classical voice from a well known university in the Philippines. Her vocal training makes it possible for her to smash the opera song "Queen of the Night" live. But....she also has Mariah Carey's style pat down on her "My Saving Grace". She is equally incredible as Morrissette and Katrina. I love Jona (Jona Viray) too...

thats is mostly Morissettes style is to go low then hit high because when she gets breathy and low it draws you in then she pulls back then push forward then pulls back getting you to think its just a chill like song then she got you with a punch.... notice it in Akin ka na lang, secret love song, and this.... it would be to predictable and less exciting throughout the song if she just came out belting and everything at the start......love this style
Its nice your getting to know our PH vocalists, yes they're very good. But they're not the only ones. Try another female singer, Elane Duran (Someday), Or Darly Ong There's sooo many.
Like you I love both Kat and Mori, however Mori is above Kat for me. I've seen plenty enough videos of both to show that with Mori she can take any songs of any genre and hit it out of the park every single time and equally or exceed the original singer of the song for all of her covers. Lots of reactors from vocal coaches to opera singers have found Mori is technically sound in her approach, considering she is not classically or professionally coached it's quite impressive. The "IT" you refer to that separates her from Kat for me is the whole package, she is very gifted as a singer, very charismatic, delivers songs with a passion. So much so that her song Akin Ka Na Lang has brought out lots of emotions from reactors who does not speak Tagalog, she just delivers it with such passion and emotion that the song speaks directly to the heart. You can see how much she invest in the song, as if she lived the lyrics herself by her delivery. Her new single just came out, Love You Still, which is a song she cowrote with her BF Dave that documents her struggle with her father relationship wise.

Family is big in the Filipino culture so its a painful situation all around. Her new song conveys how she feels about the situation.

Hi whitney. Hope you could notice my comment. Actually, theres a big difference between hitting the high notes and sitting/singing highnotes. Most of singers priority nowadays is to only hit the high notes. But morisettes above all (except from legendary divas) can deliver delicate and earpiercing high notes which will penetrate to your soul. I actually like KV but i only admire her high belts. The runs and riffs are kinda annoying to me since she always do that to dodge the original melody/notes of some songs. Riffs and runs are good but should be properly place. KV's high notes are insanely good but morisettes tone and resonance are a killer. Mori slays almost all of the singers here in ph (like for real) and her videos have been banned/not being upload on our local telivision because it was too good that other singers here will not be recognize anymore. Its a fact and i believe many filipino knows that what im saying is real. Her rise up cover have been deleted since her cover earned more views than the orignals. Sadly, her collaboration/working with reth lawrence(mariah careys producer) have been canceled because mori is still on contract with ABSCBN (FILIPINO CHANNEL). Shes not allowed to sing killer performance on live telivision and cant release her lineup original because abscbn is restricting her. But now she will conquer the singing stage as her contract with that agency is over.

with these two songs, my facial expression with Kat is probably different because I had never heard the song ever before. So by the time I got to Morissette I knew what to expect from the song and had a better idea of what Mori was capable of.

She was suffering from family problem for over a year now. Always crying (off cam), She's bleeding..... from the unbearable pain of the hurt. During quarantine, she wrote this song for her dad. ( trying to reach him out). Last Nov 27 , released her song.
I read up on her falling out with her dad. It’s so heartbreaking. I read a translated article but it said “she left over $600,000 to her parents because she felt like she just needed to start over”. I’ve read the lyrics and I’m pretty sure I might cry knowing what I know about the whole situation.

Hi Whitney! Though for me "live Morissette" is just as good "studio-recorded Morissette" in terms of vocal capacity, listening to "studio-recorded Morissette with the voice layering, reverb, etc (except auto-tune though) has it's own perks over the live version. To get a listen of it, do try checking it out from her channel where she has dropped a new recorded single just this November 27th. It may just be a lyric video (actual music video hopefully to follow) but it sounds brilliant and has quite a different feel from most of her other performances. As far as I know, her range starts at C4-D8 Idk how many octaves are there but, it's pretty much it. It was from the compilation of Morissette's video from her lowest to her highest. And they say she can go up to 5.7 octaves and 2 notes it's archaic but, no sufficient proofs how far she can go now.

If I may, I think the "it" could possibly have less to do with her vocal prowess and more of her understanding of the song, it's purpose and then her ability to put that into the vocals. Whenever she performs I usually feel like she wrote the song herself.
Katrina is a power belter. Morissette is also, plus everything else a singer and an artist needs to have. I like Katrina also, but Morissette just makes an emotional mess out of me. I'm here watching your reaction again, and you're right: Morissette has the wider vocal range in the Philippines, according to some people.
I love Katrina Velarde. But...Morrissette's tone is bigger. But... Katrina voice is more agile than Morrissette's. Geeez...they are both so good. I love them both.
Ma'am Whitney, you also have to watch Jona (a contemporary of Morrissette) they would sing duets on a Filipino TV show and they can really sing. Jona studied classical voice from a well known university in the Philippines. Her vocal training makes it possible for her to smash the opera song "Queen of the Night" live. But....she also has Mariah Carey's style pat down on her "My Saving Grace". She is equally incredible as Morrissette and Katrina. I love Jona (Jona Viray) too...

thats is mostly Morissettes style is to go low then hit high because when she gets breathy and low it draws you in then she pulls back then push forward then pulls back getting you to think its just a chill like song then she got you with a punch.... notice it in Akin ka na lang, secret love song, and this.... it would be to predictable and less exciting throughout the song if she just came out belting and everything at the start......love this style

Like you I love both Kat and Mori, however Mori is above Kat for me. I've seen plenty enough videos of both to show that with Mori she can take any songs of any genre and hit it out of the park every single time and equally or exceed the original singer of the song for all of her covers. Lots of reactors from vocal coaches to opera singers have found Mori is technically sound in her approach, considering she is not classically or professionally coached it's quite impressive. The "IT" you refer to that separates her from Kat for me is the whole package, she is very gifted as a singer, very charismatic, delivers songs with a passion. So much so that her song Akin Ka Na Lang has brought out lots of emotions from reactors who does not speak Tagalog, she just delivers it with such passion and emotion that the song speaks directly to the heart. You can see how much she invest in the song, as if she lived the lyrics herself by her delivery. Her new single just came out, Love You Still, which is a song she cowrote with her BF Dave that documents her struggle with her father relationship wise.

@@WhitneyReacts It is indeed, they had a disagreement with Mori's relationship with Dave and he aired it out on social media unfortunately and Mori is very private and was hurt badly. Family is big in the Filipino culture so its a painful situation all around. Her new song conveys how she feels about the situation.

Hi whitney. Hope you could notice my comment. Actually, theres a big difference between hitting the high notes and sitting/singing highnotes. Most of singers priority nowadays is to only hit the high notes. But morisettes above all (except from legendary divas) can deliver delicate and earpiercing high notes which will penetrate to your soul. I actually like KV but i only admire her high belts. The runs and riffs are kinda annoying to me since she always do that to dodge the original melody/notes of some songs. Riffs and runs are good but should be properly place. KV's high notes are insanely good but morisettes tone and resonance are a killer. Mori slays almost all of the singers here in ph (like for real) and her videos have been banned/not being upload on our local telivision because it was too good that other singers here will not be recognize anymore. Its a fact and i believe many filipino knows that what im saying is real. Her rise up cover have been deleted since her cover earned more views than the orignals. Sadly, her collaboration/working with reth lawrence(mariah careys producer) have been canceled because mori is still on contract with ABSCBN (FILIPINO CHANNEL). Shes not allowed to sing killer performance on live telivision and cant release her lineup original because abscbn is restricting her. But now she will conquer the singing stage as her contract with that agency is over.
