In this episode we continue to go deeper into the world of Dark Souls and fight more monsters and demons. I start off taking the wrong path at the start of the video, but eventually find that out and go the right way story wise. I find myself face to face with another Great Demon, Giant Rats, and a Terrifying Sewer Dragon.
Dark Souls is a dark fantasy action role-playing game series developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Dark souls is the the first game in the Dark souls series and marks the source material for many soulslikes that exist on the market today.

its nice seeing people play the older games in the series, your doing good man dont you dare go hollow
Thank you and I won't!
@@BassPlays902 Say that after you've cleared Blighttown!
Falls into hydra pit
Casuals "thats bullshit"
True souls enjoyers "Understandable have a nice day"
The rats do indeed drop humanity.... because they feed on corpses. Incidentally, you can also get rune arcs from rats in Elden Ring.
And Madman’s Knowledge in Bloodborne
It's always a pleasure to see a first reaction to the gaping dragon.
The pleasure is all mine😅
If you return to where you killed the hydra, there is a npc that will sell you a sorcery 'cast light'. It doesnt take much intelligence to use and trust me, you will need it for the tomb of giants
I will see if I can find this!
I think you need to free her from the gold golem first
If I knew about her in my first playthrough I wouldn't have spent four hours wandering tomb of the Giants
That "ohh my gerd" turning into "oh my god that actually helped us" is so dark souls lol
Beating Capra first time is honestly impressive. It’s so easy to get ganked by the dogs, but u managed to take them out with ease!
Mostly because he's using a really tanky build, it helps that he doesn't stagger with every attack he receives.
As for me, a glass canon builder, that fight is as dreadful today as it was when I first played this game.
Yeah it is hard getting and understanding poise@TwilightWolf032
@@Tp_hedgelinghog u gotta get lucky too, that swing killed both dogs :o
Dude you got so lucky with that first swing against Capras dogs lmao
Yes...Yes I did😂
They are a pair of absolute bitches for an absolute shite boss; the Demon itself is fine, but the arena and dogs make it so bad. Luck is the only way to beat this boss. Got so myself on my last playthrough.
@@thecircleoft.e.d2121nah, luck isn't involved if you do it correctly on going though the fog run diagonal right then immediately left and up the stairs, stand at the top and wait for the dogs to run up and get them. Then you can drop off and fight the demon.
"Just run up to the Hydra here and..." (falls off edge) *Titanic flute plays* yo I'm dead! 😂🤣
7:00 in case you didn't know, when you get grabbed, mash R1 and L1 as fast as possible, the more times you press them the less damage you receive from a grab.
what does that equate for kb and mouse?
@@Batmannotbrucewayne I’d assume it’d just be whatever you use for light attacks and then your guard/offhand weapon button
I've managed to take zero damage from a grab attacks using this on occasions unsure if it's intended to fully prevent damage but it does sometimes
Before the next area, I highly recommend going back to firelink and maybe looking for something to do with giant crow thats perched on the upper ruins. You might get a little something thats handy.
Thanks I'll try that!
Pressing X (Xbox) or Square (PS) while on an item will tell you more info.
So many people get on my case about recommending the Master Key to new players like I'm trolling them or sending them off to their deaths or something. I played my first game with that item and I was so happy I did! So many areas were just open to me right off the bat, I got so many great items early in the game because of it. I never understand the stigma of recommending the easily BEST starting gift in the game to a new player.
If you want the benefits of being Human, but don't want to be invaded, play offline.
Well, the master key can make new players reach areas they aren't ready for or straight up skip parts of the game. For a veteran having a new player miss a part of the experience seems a bit sad.
@@unaffectedbycardeffects9152 But I am a veteran and my first playthrough was with the Master Key and it was awesome XD I think people worry too much about the first timer missing something. They ARE going to miss things, it's inevitable. The idea is that they then go back and find those things the next time they play. It's the re-playability of the game.
@@Gakusangi I'm not saying I think like I expressed in my comment, nor that I believe your first playthrough was less valid because you used the master key or that you can't have fun with it. Only, objectively it makes it easier to miss areas and get stuck early on, which are things many experienced players don't want to happen. Personally I don't care if you used or not, my first playthrough was with the thief class
Dark Souls 1 invaders were snakes, Elden Ring invaders are worse snakes. Dark Souls 3 however was a game of gentlemen, there was a code of honor and conduct.
I hate when invaders attack you right before the boss door and make a statement hey look at my bloody weapon it is so cool. I am testing it on you guys. Yesterday I yeeted a guy off the ledge outside Magma Wyrm Makar boss room when me and my friend were just getting ready to enter the boss door.
Except when not 😂
You can chug 2 estus in one sitting to save a little heal time
And not a single death curse in the entire sewers.
Extremely lucky
My fellows hydras are quite the trickster aren't they ?
I see you meet my "little snake" cousin.
Ah, Blighttown, the fun-fun place. You're gonna lOvE iT.
So I have discovered...🤣
Get ready for darkness and chaos
I can never watch a Sif fight without tears
the low hp animation was created by masochists
She's a good pupper :(
Good luck in blight town brother youll need it 🫡
Thank you...And I survived...But in the next video you will see my struggle haha
I'm surprised with the 1.5k subscribers, your content made me think a lot more!
Underrated channel, good stuff.
Wow! Thank you!
Kindling a bonfire gives you more estus when you rest there ✨🫙✨
There is nothing more intoxicating than the first Dark Souls play. I can't wait to see you in the Ringed City of DS3. Take care now, I don't want to see you go hollow.
I hope to make it to dark souls 3 one of these days...I promise I won't😂
Dark souls 3 is trash @@BassPlays902
If you spam l1 r1/rb lb you can escape the damage from grab attacks
Good job, bro. But you need to increase the damage of this sword at the blacksmith and you can buy the tool box from him that allows you to upgrade your weapons yourself at any campfire. Also, you have most likely already passed through a good part of blighttown and when the second bell rings, the shortcut to firelink is in the plank elevator to the right of the tunnel bonfire. Take the elevator, then the stairs and go left, exiting through a cave and arriving at the Valley of Dragons. You already know how to get to Firelink and take the elevator from there to reach Sen's Fortress past the blacksmith Andre. Keep it up!
@josuenascimento1995 Thanks! Yeah I do need to make a trip back to Andrea and get some things for sure...Yes I have made it through blighttown as of now and I never want to go through that again😂
@@BassPlays902 Another great tip. Return to where you fought the hydra. There is a lady there that will sell you a sorcery for light. It uses very little intelligence. You will need it for the area past the skeletons. Trust me. Without the light you might get stuck in the tomb of skeletons
Ask André the Smith for the thing to open that door... gonna need some souls :)
Thanks!
Crest of Artorias. For early game it is pretty expensive but you will get your souls back pretty easily killing the enemies behind that door.
your edits are best.. give me more of these amazing videos❤
and remember don't go Hollow
@parttime_me Thank you and I will! Stay tuned!
I love the new wave of people playing
I’ve been doing old school invasions in the dukes archives; so much fun
Couple of tips, the forest door is opened from the other side using the Crest of Artorias, bought from the blacksmith for 20k souls. There is a cat in the forest ruins, Shalomar I think, talking to them allows you to join their covenant so that the dudes don't attack you. Fast travel is unlocked later in the game, until then it's hoofing it from place to place.
Hmmm ok I will be heading back there soon then!
Her name is Alvina...
And the NPC is Shiva of the East. Recommended to talk to them and exhaust his dailogue because later on he moves to another part and you can bug uchigatana and then kill him and his ninja for a pretty cool ring that lets you cartwheen ans backflips if you are light rolling. It changes your rolling action. His armor is cool too.
@@nayyarrashid4661 Knew I had it wrong, looks like I was thinking of the DS2 cat and looking it up even got that name wrong, don't drink and comment kids!
great series so far man! Cant wait for more!
Thanks so much!
fun videos man, just saw your channel and started watching the ds1 video's where i heared you talk about youve played ds3. Are you planning on playing ds2 aswell?
I am going to tackle the whole series! Maybe not one after the other, but that is the goal!
I was gonna say "the first 'Bug ahead' made sense, but the second one..." but then I realized "oh yeah, the Hornet Ring is in there!"
I finally played it a few months ago and really enjoyed it. Of course there were some very hard moments where i wanted to quit but in the end i was Happy and after finishing it now two times including the dlcs i could start shadow of the erdtree.i think the dark souls experience gave me a different view. The elden ring dlc is challenging but its also fun to play
It's cool, i've returned to 1 to coop a bit ❤.
There is another thing you can do in the area where you fought the Hydra, you have to go to the other end of the lake and you will find something there. After defeating that something will happen. Ideally, you should go right after ringing the second bell.
Will do!
Great video.
3:14 for some reason i saw that coming
I saw the hydra shenanigans coming and was not disappointed XD
If you don't want to be invaded by online players, you can change settings to start the game in offline mode.
System > Network Settings > Launch Setting = Start Offline.
You won't get invaded by online players, but you also won't see any messages left by online players.
Oh believe me I have done this now😂
Just an advise... you got the Black Knight Halberd. IF you want Darksouls to be a Challenge dont use it or ANY other Black Knight Weapons. Especialy the Halberd they are way to op.
You can just as well use the Zweihander to finish the game u can finish it with any Weapon. If the Weapon is to Clunky for you use the Battle Axe. I think you dropped it by a Hollow Warrior but not completly sure. Even if not Andre has one for sale too. He has some Small Titanit Shards for Upgrade until +5 as well.
If you dont know the idea behind Humanity is the Damage Upgrade you get from "Chaos Weapon's" and loot find the higher your Humanity counter is. +10 is the Max amount you get any benifits from it. So you can hold +10 Humanity up and hold the rest for a situation where you lose your humanity by not recovering it.
Kindling Bonfires are important however some are more usefull then others.
The Boss Souls are just more Souls to spend on your stats. Almost every Boss Weapon is completly useless. Expecialy if you go for only the first time playthrough not talking for ng+ here.
And one realy huge thing to mention is the Weight you carry. You are actually mid rolling atm. What the second worst roll in the game is. There's 9 Stages for Equip Load with some realy small Iframe differences. Your Equip Load with a 100% is a walk only state rolling is impossible, for Fat Roll it is from 99,99% to 50,01% , Mid Roll that you have right now is from 50% to 25,01%, fast Roll is from 25% to 0,1% , Nacked Roll is with 0%.
Hope anything from this help's you, and wish you a lot of fun.
P.S. you are not done with the Tutorial of Dark Souls btw :D the real begining starts in Anor Londo
I havent seen you do it yet but you can talk to the firekeeper at firelink to reinforce your flask using the soul you got from the church
Dark Souls is my favorite game ever made even with more massive games like Elden Ring. There is really no comparison.
You can use humanity to restore health, also humanity represented by the number next to your health and stamina bar can be used to restore you to human self and then you can kindle a bonfire to get more estus flasks, one kindling takes it up to 10, 2 takes it up to 15 but bare in my mind you will have to do that for each bonfire for the bonus, I tend to just kindle main bonfires for example near Andre, not the out of the way ones for example the bonfire near the Black Knight in Dark Root. Just a bit of a tip to help someone new to DS1 :)
Thank you for the tips!
@@BassPlays902 It's all good mate! Will gladly give any tips I can, played and beaten this game so much, I'm glad you are enjoying it
Loving your videos! Always fun to watch people playing the souls series for the first time, keep it up!
Thanks, will do!
Watching this brings back so many memories and old memes lol.
I'm happy to bring back some nostalgia!
Claymores are my favorite, and those capra demon's dogs are a delight! :c
Super excited for the Blighttown episode. Please, if you haven’t already…do Bloodborne after this series.
I would love to do a series on that and Demon Souls, but I gotta download some software for my PC first😂
@@BassPlays902 they need to do a multi platform Bloodborne remastered release. It’s a shame it is stuck where it’s at.
Also, if not done yet, give Andre the embers. And remember that divine makes killed skeletons stay put. 😅 Also, haven't seen you visit the second Blacksmith while you were in New Londo ruins.
I did not know about the second blacksmith thank ya!
Yay new ep in 1 min 🎉
rats in elden ring can drop rune arc just like the rats in DaS1 drops humanity
Had the biggest grin on my face as he charged right in to fight the hydra.
HeheheXD
Let me give you a tip: Having at least one humanity (the number on the top left of your HUD) greatly increases your item discovery. Bigger number only slightly increases it, but you want to always have at least one because it makes a big difference from having 0. Non-re-spawning enemies like the Black Knights have random chances to drop extremely good loot (like the Halberd you got) and you can miss out on a lot if you are unlucky. You are playing very good so you are already following it, but knowing this may help :)
I actually did not realize that so thank you for the tip!
You are very good player. Very instinctive
Thank you!
Didnt get cursed thats lucky
its okay blighttown will bring the pain
love this guy :D as a person that has played all fromsoft games numerous times i love his style and reactions to things. all in all seems like a cool guy :)
FYI, the crystal weapons that guy sells do a shitload of damage, but cant be repaired normally. if you go to the blacksmith, or buy a repairbox to repair at bonfires, you can repair the durability on your weapons. But not with crystal weapons. the ONLY way to repair them is by upgrading them.
Blocking makes this game a lot easier. Get a better shield and you won't need to dodge a lot if at all for the base game. The DLC bosses are strong though.
22:06 Clare Corbett, ladies and gentlemen.
Killed Capra Demon first try. Respect to that
Did you open the the butcher's chest when you first entered the depths? (Necessary Item)
PS. Long time souls player and seeing anyone's first DS1 journey makes me so happy. Keep up the good work man, and don't you dare go hollow!
Yes I got it thanks! I won't go hollow I promise!
I can't wait to see the new londo run 😂
I love it. I finished the game a few times... Saw billions of videos about it.. And I don't know why but I can't wait to see your next moves in lordran. Plus I really enjoy that RP vibe when you get hit or you have to "RUUUUN" 😂
I can't wait either! Thank you so much!
The level design is my absolute favorite part of this game. I wish I could forget about it so I could experience it all for the first time again 😢
Please get and use the darkwood grain ring
Idk what that is, but ok!
parry common enemies and stab is best way to kill them (and u be invincible, less weapon break)
if enemies hold sword stylishly way, it will parry u.
cant parry shield attac or special melee/spell attac
nm, just roll and backstab it still good:)
(i mean it best way in darksoul 1)
Thank you so much for the tips!
15.42 you need the covenant of artorias emblem from andre the blacksmith
Ohhh well Imma have to make a trip then!
Crestfallen: only one bell left, but it's suicide.
"You don't know what I've dealt with dude!"
Blight town: hi
Ahh yes, Capra demon. 💁🏻♂️
Next playthrough, remember that you can throw fire bombs over the fog door and cheese him completely.
one important piece of advice : go buy a purging stone there are basilisks in that zone
true. better to be safe than sorry.
Shush. It's not truly a first souls run if you don't catch a curse or two and have to madscramble to try to figure out how to cure themselves
@@edot7266 1st time i played i would have loved to know and im too much of a kind softie
I have to say, Ds1 has got to be the best level design in the souls games. You find a random doorway and it leads you back to firelink shrine or to the previous area
Don't forget: Mash to break grapples faster.
I laughed so hard when you got parried by the skeleton in your last video omg 😂
If you have a lot of souls and you don’t want to lose them, just use the homeward bone to go back to your bonfire
I just finished playing ds2 for the first time yesterday. It was great and now I'm finishing ds remastered. It's hard at first but now it's just a game of patience.
I didn't even know you could get to sif without buying the crest of artorias (that's how you open the door next to the bonfire btw)
Yet another intersting episode of dark souls. Love it
You are genuinely funny & entertaining dude😂 Earned a sub
Thanks for joining the journey!
Bro got so Lucky with the Capra, hitting two dogs with one swing Nice 😂😂😂😂
Bro literally went past alvina😂😂😂
I am a new player of this game your video is very amazing😂
Thank you!
You think some of these runbacks are bad in early game wait until you get to mid and end game this game is notorious for its long runbacks
Oh...I can't wait😅🤣
Here's a very important question: in that room with the butcher and the dog, did you grab what was inside of the chest? Pls say yes...
Yes I got it😂
@@BassPlays902 thank God. It's time to farm giant leeches then.
you missed a good armor set by tue stairs to your right on darkroot garden, also missed the wall cat,its right where the dudes are, talk to her and join her covenant
Yeah imma have to make a trip over there next! Thanks for the tips!
I don't know why many people seems to not notice this, and i'm late but, whenever an enemy grabs you, either plants, mimics or spoilers, you gotta smash the attack button, if you don't, they're gonna keep hitting until your HP reaches 0, but if you smash it even the giant worms stop hurting and spit you out
You should Kindle your bonfires man
4:45 My heart wept for you here. Been there done that.
The struggle was realXD
Really enjoying this content.
Very high quality and enjoyable.
The zooming is a bit much tho
Thank ya! I'll work on that!
Prithee be caretul
Neither of us wants to see you go hollow.
Nay I shall not go hollow!
The whole Hydra fight is just “That’s what she said”😂
use pyromancer or knight or warrior but chose the master key as a starting gift
I always go with Brigand, they are well rounded.
@@tuidianI go brigand for quality builds
Thief starting class comes with the Master Key independent of your what you choose as Starting gift (so you can choose something else and are able to, so to say, get two Starting Gifts.
Pyromancer is the only class starting at SL1 which makes it a requirement for SL1 runs, irrespective of if you intend to use Pyromancies for your SL1 run or not (hint: they’re very strong in a SL1 run)
Other than that, you’re starting class & respective stats don’t matter at all, unless you want to optimize your stats, having a build in mind, with the intention of only leveling to the meta level or up to a certain invasion level
@@8ogl yes but pyromancer is one of the best classes for starting out cuz u get the pyromancy flame early unlike if u chose another class and it does good damage early game and paired with a good weapon its super op but choosing thief is good but the stats and weapon aint the best in my opinion
@@falko.g2917 it’s been a while since I leveled up a character in DS1, so I wasn’t aware anymore of everything that lies in between starting the game and finally obtaining the Pyromancy Flame. Even though leveling up the Flame still needs the rescue of the NPC and the possibility to kill the Capra Demon very early albeit by doing a skip and/or even cheesing Capra Demon to obtain the key, I have to agree to you on the Pyromancer being a good choice to start with!
In terms of the Thief, or any class in general, I think, your starting weapon doesn’t really matter as you’re easily able to obtain an array of different weapons as soon as you arrive at Firelink Shrine. For Thief, I think, the Shield is perfectly fine because Parrying likely will be your bread and butter throughout your playthrough anyways and getting to FS is fully trivialized by picking the Firebombs as Starting Gift (since you get the Master Key anyway).
I appreciate you answered to my comment and hope you’re doing well 👍
First playthrough... never pick Master Key
u should buy the crest of artorias from the blacksmith n try to reach the pupper from the location u fought moonlight butterfly there was a door n a hidden bonfire next to it behind an invisible wall. also the pupper is just protecting his dead master that's why all the messages called imminent tears
The tears are not just because he is protecting…but you save him in the DLC and then puppers is sad when you have to fight…and then the limping. 😢
Nooooooooo!!!! You murdered Sif!!!!! How dare you not know what you did!!!!! How dare😊 you be oblivious!!!! YOU KNOW NOT WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!
Same question for me,now i'm playing it and it is awesome!!
use your Black Knight halberd makes game a Chesse walk maybe
I would, but that also why I am not using it lol I have been advised things would be to easy😈
Valley of BBL Drizzy
If you mash the attack buttons you can escape some grabs early, thus reducing the damage they deal. Doesn't always work, tho.
Well next time imma try this! Thanks for the tip!
The luck of killing both dogs with one swing at the beginning of Capra Demon is honestly impressive
i suggest you buy some poison arrows from that guy in depths
ypu are going to need those later in the game
I keep trying to think to myself that i want to help you were to go buddy. But im not going to lol. This first playthrough is so funny im glad your enjoying it 🤣🤣🤣 And that Hydra boss is terrible for a heavy build "Thats what i always use in all souls games" I never do mage builds.
Take it and Don’t go hollow!
"You don't know what we dealt with!" you said. He knows and he also knows what is still ahead of you XD
