      😊 thank you Bea - yes I was very glad the penny dropped before I'd got too far along! I'd never tried that stitch before but I'll definitely use it again, maybe with thinner yarn/fatter hook so it would be a little easier, but it worked perfectly to create a really firm fabric for my basket. Do you know what the stitch is actually called, because I have no idea? :)

      Thank you very much Diane, yes it was a bit tricky at the start but once I got going it was pretty easy. I'd really like to try some more ideas with it now, so wish I'd asked for 3 or 4 of them! :)

      Thank you Kerry! 😊 It was a bit tricky to get started, but actually the whole thing start to finish was only around 2.5 hours, including the napkin bit. I'd like to try some others, using different recycled materials, and I reckon if I got an appropriate shape, I could make a little bag in the same way .... hmmmm :)

      Thank you very much. It wasn't too bad, only around 2 to 3 hours start to finish, though hard work on the hands in places. I will have another go though, I have a few ideas I want to try :)

    What a wonderful wee basket! Thanks so much for sharing, Annie. I loved watching this. Very restful! I've not got steady enough hands for doing knitting or crochet; my arthritis is quite bad now. Watching you reminded me (happily) of watching my Nan crochet when I was a little girl. If I was ill, she would sit by my bed and make something lovely. I was fascinated to see her work away and it always made me feel sleepy and safe. You did a beautiful job! Love and Bless xoxo

      Thank you LIndsey! It must be so frustrating to have arthritis stop you from doing things you used to enjoy - you definitely would have struggled with this, it was quite hard work on the hands in places. Ah that's a lovely story - brings back my own memories of watching my Granny knitting away (I can hear the needles clicking in my mind's ear) while we watched one of her programmes and I sat on the floor drawing or sorting her buttons or whatever and sometimes I'd persuade her to tell me stories about living in London during the war, which I found fascinating and seemed like ancient history to me, but in fact at that time the war had only ended twenty years before and now I realise how recent it would still have seemed to her. Anyway, rambling again! xo

      @@artyfartyannie My arthritis is definitely getting a wee bit worse as I get older (I am on the downhill slope to 60). But I have had it since I was in my early 20's, so I have always had to make allowances and structure my art around it. I don't mind. Meds help a good bit and a wee bit of pain is worth it when I can still paint and create. It brings me such a lot of joy. I, too, used to ask my Grands about the war! My Dad was a huge WWII history buff and passed that interest on to me. I would ask to hear the same stories over and over. You are NOT rambling! We are sharing precious memories 🙂Thank you for sharing yours with me! xoxo

    Looks delightful. Think t shirt yarn would be nicer than yarn yarn 🧶 lol if you get me drift, I’m wondering what it would look like with strips of fabric could be nice too, wonderful video.

    • @artyfartyannie
      @artyfartyannie Год назад

      Thanks Paula - ooooh yes, strips of yarn would definitely work and look really cool I reckon, maybe with a larger hook. a larger hook after the first row would make the going a lot easier anyway and I think in hindsight I might as well have done a simple double crochet (UK) or a treble might even work. I wish I'd asked for 3 or 4 of them now. :)
