@@veronicabermudez4802 I'm 90% certain that the only 3D Sonic games that don't have the homing attack on jump are Unleashed and Frontiers, meaning that 3D Blast was technically the one to bind it to the jump button (or Sonic Adventure if you only count the truly 3D games).

I tried an entire no-jump run after I saw your shield skip video, and I gotta say, it was tough, but fun! I wanted to make a video on it, but I gave myself a bit more leeway by allowing jumps with the trick bars and the raptor on Chaos Island. I will say that I did things differently on Rhea island. For the first tower, if you're precise enough, you can boost-launch off the platform, stop yourself with parry, and then air-boost back to hit the boost ring! It is interesting to see how they changed the platforming on easy mode though.
This videos so cool, I loved seeing how you figured out new skips and routing to pull this off! Also when the giganto boss fight came on I lost my goddsdamn mind (positive)
We're probably due a followup when update 3 hits, because some *interesting* files have popped up after update 2 that seem to suggest that we're getting full movesets - complete with learnable skills - for the other three when they become playable in that update. No distinct skill icons, but colour-coded placeholder skill slots, 15 each for 45 new skill slots in total.
Since "Break Through It All" is my favorite of the boss themes, I was sad Wyvern didn't get an montage. However, boring is fair for the actual boss fight. I would say it's tedious how long it takes to actually hit it.

While I havent spent much time (like 20 minutes) with the spindash, definitely. Its fast, doesnt require the jump button, and can easily give Sonic height / airtime and you still have the an air boost at the ready.

I wasn't terribly interested in it so I haven't followed it much, sure, but I heard basically NOTHING when this game came out or since then. I have absolutely no idea what's going on here besides a lack of jumping lol, what in the world... In any case, great vid, always fun to see these sorts of vids from you. Also it's hilarious that you ended up discovering an awesome speedrunning trick for this, I love that.
12:58 I have no memory of this place. I think I remember going into the canyon, but I have no memory of this hidden area. Ironically I 100%ed this game. So you expect me to remember it. I guess it was just that bland, or I blanked out. But it did feel funny how everyone had a problem getting to the red emerald. And yet I didn’t. (Maybe I used a Elder Coco warp?)
Would probably be pretty easy since (from my knowledge) it is never mandatory, for 100% yes (because of some map puzzles) but just beating the story should be pretty easy
If you get above Eagle, you CAN defeat them by stomping, which causes the same homing effect as against the Spring enemies back in Ares island. That being said, you still can't ride on them that way.
I thought mans put this video up because of spindash and just spent an afternoon making this and it turns out that's not why, but even so I know he does it for passion because seeing what you can do in games that turn out to be somewhat hard to come back to because of a lack of content following the end of the game (at launch, not considering the dlc) is cool if the movement options are versatile enough
Part of me think you should retry this challenge one more time after update 3 since it will be more characters and probably more ways you can tackle this that's just me though
Unpopular opinion that I haven't heard anyone else say: I like the first half of break through it all more than the second Sometimes when I listen to the song and it gets to the second half, I pause it and replay the first half I know... WIERD
Would it be possible to beat the game without attacking (using the homing attack, combos and special moves, except for Cyloop)? So the only way you can damage enemies is with the jump, drop dash, slide, parrying and the Cyloop.
Without testing I wanna say no, only because I don't *think* Cyloop damages bosses by itself, and for Wyvern especially, you cant start the chasing-across-red-path sequence until you homing attack onto him from the top of the tower.

While Wyvern MIGHT be boring, it is the most cinematic of the fights since: Giganto is in a large valley You fight Knight in a pit But you fight Wyvern WHILE FLYING AROUND THE WHOLE ISLAND.
You should name these "without using the jump button" because you are technically jumping, but if you say without using the jump button then it'd make a lot more sense
if i remember chronologically, 1st it was mag dash, which is a name for a similar trick in spark the electric jester 3, which is also a tribute to SA1 2nd it became the griddy because speedrunners love funny names 3rd the sonic frontiers tips and tricks video came out with the homing boost...

I think this challenge kinda shows how despite its limitations, it's one of the Sonic games with the most free control options in a while and that's a good part of what made it so refreshing for the franchise!
the fight with THE END was really disappointing like we get a fantastic build to it that makes you expect it to be like the other titans fight and nope its the boring mini game like whyyyyy

I always think it's cool when you have to create your own new techniques to beat a challenge run. Well done and great video!

Understandable, the song itself is pretty dang good.
I think Wyvern is the best boss because of that he is the only one to offer some challenge and doesn’t go down in 30 seconds

You need to get an s-rank in all of the action chain challenges which are newer challenges found on the four Islands
