  • Robert Huston Productions Western Swing RULES #24 features our first drumming demonstration with the very talented Tony Ramsey. Tony is currently the drummer for the Jason Roberts Band and has a long list of folks he's played with including the Texas Playboys, Louise Mandrell, Mel Tillis, Ray Price and the list goes on. Tony is one of the best drummers I've ever known and he grew up in the neighboring county next to me in Poteau, Oklahoma. Tony shares his insight on the very important role drums play in that distinctive Western Swing dance beat. Thanks for watching and subscribing to Western Swing RULES.

Thank you for this. I watched you and think I figured out that my hi-hat cymbals are too large for a western swing sound. Do you mind sharing what size diameter cymbals you're using. Are they 12 inch?

Came here to learn. Couldn't hear a word of your verbal instruction however.

Sorry you couldn't hear the instruction. Everything seems to be fine on our end and very clear and understandable. Although, Tony was the only one with a mic making Dave's guitar a bit low. -RH

The right channel of the audio is very quiet. Left is fine though. Maybe switch earphones?
