We went there as well and hiked up to the old quarries before they were reopened.

I should say that was in the 1970s and 80s when I was a kid, with my dad and grandfather. I remember a section of the old road/tram railbed where the bridge was gone, having to finding hand and foot holds to cross around the Yule Creek below. My dad did a hike up to the old Strauss Quarries on Treasury Mountain as well.

Another great episode. Thank you for posting this episode. When I took my wife here a few years ago, we took time to explore the beautiful areas all around. It was an amazing get a way and vacation. The little coffee shop on the corner was wonderful and the people were so friendly.

I went to Marble with a friend in 1981 and we didn't expect to find the quarry on the top of a mountain. We hiked to the quarry and it was an amazing sight; the whole top of the mountain is made of marble, the stream cut through marble and it looked like a polished bathtub.
If you go looking for the quarry, look up, WAY up!

My brother and his wife live in Marble. I don’t think they would appreciate being called a semi-ghost town.
