Donga Ramudu is a Telugu Drama Film produced by D. adhusudhana Rao on Annapurna Pictures banner and directed by K. V. Reddy, starring Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Savitri, Jamuna in the lead roles. The film was archived in the curriculum of the Film and Television Institute of India. The film is debut venture to the Annapurna Pictures into film industry who gave memorable hits with Akkineni Nageswara Rao. The film was dubbed and released in 1956 as Tamil movie Thiruttu Raman.
Donga Ramudu Plot:
Ramudu (Akkineni Nageshwara Rao) after serving a jail sentence for a theft he had committed during childhood to buy medicines for his mother (Hemalatha) lands in a job as a servant at moneylender Veerabhadraiah’s (Relangi) house. He finds his sister Lakshmi (Jamuna) in an orphanage and promises to pay her college fee. To raise the money, he steals at Bhadraiah’s house but is caught and jailed. Lakshmi escapes an attack by Babulu (R. Nageswara Rao) a local thug, with the help of Seetha (Savitri) the vegetable vendor with whom Ramudu is in love. Seetha gets shelter for her at Dr. Mohan’s (Jaggaiah) house. Impressed by her virtues, the doctor decides to marry Lakshmi. Ramudu joins as a driver with Mohan. He warns his sister not to reveal that they are siblings. But Veerabhadraiah who is angry that the doctor has not married his daughter (Swarajyalakshmi), reveals their identity and that Ramudu is a thief. What happens later forms the climax.

A classic movie of 3 hours. Unfortunately 1 hour movie is gone. Volga video released 2 CD's the duration being almost but there also some jumps. Some key scenes were missing. Our fate. When a movie is uploaded we accept being at the receiving end. Almost all TELUGU movies of the past were of near to 3 hours. Easy to cut scenes and songs . It is a complete loss to generation. Maayabazar is also no exception. 5 minutes cut in black and white print, nearly 25 minutes cut in colour version. No efforts to restore.
This movie is a master piece..K.V.Reddy's magnificent screenplay made this movie as part of curriculum of Film and Television Institute of India (Pune). This movie is pedhabalasiksha for all those who interested in movie making..
