What is Stage I Melanoma?

In Stage I melanoma, there are cancer cells in both the epidermis and dermis. Stage I melanoma is up to 2mm thick (Breslow thickness) and may or may not have ulceration. There is no evidence cancer has spread to lymph nodes or distant sites (metastasis). There are two subgroups of Stage I melanoma: IA and IB.

Thanks for your video … I had melanoma in Situ removed from my left forearm with a 9 mm margin … I worry about it … seems a large margin for in situ

Hi! My melanoma is Melanoma malignum (SSM)
Clark III. Breslow :0,401,naevoid Mitoticus index: 0/mm².
peritumoral mid, lymphoid. pT1a
So my wide range cut was just 0.5 mm and the team sad that the lymph node biopsy is not necessary. So it is good? I mean the LNB is really necessary? Check the lymph physically every and my skin every year for 5 years and that’s it?

I found a spot on my head about 2” above my ear. Is the biopsy painful?

A skin biopsy on the head, such as a scalp biopsy, is not very painful. The procedure involves injecting a local anesthetic into the skin with a small needle, which may cause a slight prick and stinging sensation. The area may also burn briefly for about 10 seconds after the freezing medication is applied, similar to getting a tooth frozen at the dentist. After that, you shouldn't feel any pain during the biopsy. However, you may experience mild discomfort, such as pressure in the area, during a core needle biopsy.
