Thank you, all you eagle eyed viewers, for point out that that satellite bug was not in fact a bug, but an inserter simply stealing the satellite. In my defense, that used to be impossible for as long as space science has existed and up until 2.0 silently changed it, and my brain never even considered the possibility that for some reason 2.0 would add the ability to pull through satellites, but apparently that's a thing now.
Funny how I was just watching that part and about to comment on it then this comment comes up
Well, now that you're aware of it. Gotta use it sometime in the future
I'mma be real it was hillarious when you "fixed" the bug accidentally and still didn't see what you had done. Great entertainment
The gesture on the thumbnail is wrong tho. It must be the "pinching" one, like in the mamma mia marchello meme.
Maybe the real bugs were the friends we made along the way
scariest part of this video is there was no "starter base"
its not real spaghet if you’rs not just bolting things on the side as necessary
"Dosh... it... it's just the starter base. Just to get us through the early game. R-right...?" *dead silence in reply*
this is the starter base, just wait until he makes the megabase
If only it had gone far enough that it didn't allow stone/concrete to be placed in rows too... that would have been a hilarious extension of the mod.
The factory must grow
He didn't prebuild the advanced oil refining, this is a bodysnatcher.
He was replaced a couple videos ago. The bodysnatcher has been in control for a while...
skinwalkers are among us
@NO122221 ඞ
It was sushi pipes so technically he did.
Bodysnatchers wouldn't bother with this much love for internet fans, this is obviously an imperfect clone
my bad folks
You are, in fact, a monster. :)
This mod is incredible. It forces you to play like a total noob.
Love it
Top 10 spaghetti recipes
hey, the mod page is down, what gives
1:00:21: Watching the inserter top left steal away the satellite while dosh pulls his hair out trying to figure out where it went is perfect comedy
lmfao, amazing. Old habits die hard :D
hahaha I missed that detail too. This deserves way more upvotes!
That is hilarious lmaooo
"yoink!" ~blue inserter.
at 1:01:28 you can see the satellites that got stolen sitting next to the blue science filtered inserter, but he didn't notice because of all the clutter!
If you build a base like this Kovarex phones you up late at night and just breathes into the phone.
lmao
Kovarex hires you to make menu screen simulations
Don't worry that's just your starter base
Its got lamps and concrete so its a real base
nah, there's lamps and concrete. it's a real base now
this base NEEDS to be a background screen scenario when you open up the game, the chaos is too perfect,
you can upload whatever you want as a background simulation if you dont mind file editing
@WizardBrandon it should be for everyone, not just Dosh subs
I'd just like to point out. You once said "If I ever build an oil setup without pre building for advanced oil processing, you'll know an imposter has taken over my channel." Dosh blink twice if an imposter has taken over and we'll send help. 21:45
This is the second time too, he also didn't do it in sea block or the space one, the shock made me forget which one it was.
It's actually the third time... Im worried the cloning machines got him
*Among Us emergency meeting stinger plays*
If we're comparing this, normal factorio looks like modern cities with a lot of empty space between buildings, while this looks like a more chaotic medieval city layout... Or a giant organic mess, you decide.
"hey man your brain parasite isnt contageous, right?"
37:25 "i think all people should play like this"
Imagine the pure _catharsis_ that the person who designed the main menu animations must be feeling, watching someone else navigate through the voluntary torment nexus that they subject themselves to.
Code green "I have created the torment nexus, inspired by the novel "do not create the torment nexus""
i expect this base to show up on the main screen sometime this year
I too, have watched the lastest Valefisk video
@AntonStengaard I had no idea who that was till just now, neat
@AntonStengaard, The Torment Nexus is a pretty old joke my guy.

Veterinarians play factorio‽
"Vet? I'm fucking soaking" @crimsonvale7337
@crimsonvale7337 Veteran
Reminds me of the meme of writing a "hello world" program at different levels of experience!
Now when are we getting *spaceghetti*?
This mess needs to fly.
god that'd be cool,
Doing this shit on gleba???
The *SPAGHETT* must metastasize
That's just regular Space Age
A true Flying Spaghetti Monster!
1:03:22 A rare image of Factorio player's brain. With commentary on what production lines each region is dedicated to.
37:15 for a game that probably doesn't have a 'right' way to play, i absolutely agree that this is one of the Truly right ways to play it.
"Today I am making a mess" - me every Monday when I sit at my workstation.
- me every night when I sit at my "work" station
@xendurr8180 this isn't IG reels
@xendurr8180 - "me" every "night" when I "sit" at my "work" "station"
Watching the satellite in the top left corner get stolen by the incorrectly setup output path on the rocket silo is actually sending me.
Ah, so that's what happened to the satellite...I didn't notice that!
Literally the only time Dosh for the whole playthrough has been gotten by the spagetti. Amazing.
bro is actually just blind, even in editing
Onto the science belt where he meant to send space science, so those 5 or 6 satellites are probably still mixed in on the science sushi belt.
I immediately caught that and was very confused how he didn't figure it out before posting the video.
55:17 putting rocket fuel in burner inserters has got to be the most deliciously evil part of that space science build
the only thing better would be nuclear fuel powered burner inserters
If only acceleration bonus affected rotation speed
@Yunru_goose_banana Oh dont say that. If that was the case nuclear fuel burner inserters might have a chance at being faster than bulk, and if that is the case itd make some people actually use it for that purpose.
"Slime mold" has always been and will always be my favorite base design style.
I can only imagine how much better this would've been with Bob's Adjustable Inserters
Oh god. Imagine this with recursive blueprints too - letting you change the inserter settings automatically like the Renai Transportation yellow science build
Honeslty at this point Pyanodons would probably be less unhinged, dosh
Pyanodons with decay is still less unhinged
Stareplue took up the torch Dosh refuses to pick up
Pyanodons is too easy for Dosh with the long yellow undergrounds right from the start
he waits for pysex
@retlom779 pysex is playable today
Factorio promo art genuinely delights me every time I see it. Building bases like that is just the best thing ever.
The final overhead shot of the spaghetti really reminded me of old medieval towns in the way it just sprawls out, Over all really cool
Especially with the major road weaving throughout. It really feels like an old city built up over centuries.
Fat among us
Whereas regular factorio feels like rationalistic modern cities and their sprawl.
I get vibes of how slime molds grow and spread out to different resources in a petri dish
Honestly it looks like a SimCity or City Skylines map
32:31 its funny seeing the lights flickering as the Lazer turrets shoot
The random bits of wreckage strewn about the place from the mod striking down accidental building placements adds a certain je ne sais quoi to this masterpiece.
"1 tick filter"
*looks inside*
"Rising edge mono-stable circuit"
Gives me redstone flashbacks
it's just simple redstone
This really does give the feeling that the Factorio Engineer is desperately trying to leave the planet, and doesn’t care AT ALL
I feel like this demonstrates the difference between someone randomly throwing paint on a canvas VS an experienced artist carefully planing and constructing something beautiful.
It's like the perfect example of why people who say "i could do that" when looking at abstract art are wrong lol
I'd say it's much more comparable to the development of foundational systems or programing languages contrasting the much more organised and legible programs made to run on said systems
@pyritenightmare That... really depends. For some abstract art, definitely (what comes to mind: an exposition at a museum I was once, two near-identical chairs in a blocky, angular abstract art style, one was real, one was fake - the difference? the real one was actually pleasant to sit in, and yes you could try them out to confirm that). But others is genuinely just something dead simple + some kind of dodgy story about how artistic it is, and for those you just need to be capable of creating such stories.
@pyritenightmare I don't feel this applies because abstract art has only form, no function. This has to have function which is why it takes effort.
@eyjay1508 Same as normal art. It's hard to see where the effort comes in for abstract art so that's why people say that it doesn't take it.
In this video, Dosh learns to build a base like me when usually it’s the other way around.
the zoomed-out view of the final base makes me think of a map of ankh-morpork more than it does a factory. incredible
This is the real beauty. Can we have this saved as the main menu background?
Yes please they should realy add this to the main menu rotation
Honestly wouldnt be suprised if you message the devs that they will add it.
Actually might be possible to copy this and put it into the directory that has the menu scenarios in it.
I think if you look in your factorio instalation folder you can find some menu scene folder and if you drop your file in there it will be in the rotation, but the exact details I would have to look up again
I second this motion. We must pressure the devs to add this base as the new main menu background.
@1:00:27 you can see the blue inserter at top left of rocket silo removing the satellite and sending it along the belt to your labs. It's not getting deleted. I did the same thing recently in a vanilla playthrough
That is actually hilarious
The bug was in his 1.0 brain the whole time!
Beat me to making this comment. It's almost a shame it's not a bug though; Having a bug that major in the game this long would have been absurd levels of unlikely.
dang i thought i was the first person to notice, i was laughing so hard because i always make those silly mistakes and feel ridiculous when i find out it was actually just user error
1:03:02 you can see the satellites on the belt.
If you look close at 1:03:00 you can see the satellites on the space science belt :)
I'm glad im not the only once to notice, what's funnier is he fixed it right before picking the silo back up
1:01:33 "It seems to work normally now" after he destroyed the arm because of the landing pad hahahaha
Dosh, the satellite wasn't getting eaten by a bug. You had an inserter pulling out of the silo. It was stealing your satellites and putting them on the output belt.
Oh no, he's having fun
One of the reasons I love watching Dosh is he'll throw out the term "One-tick filter" and then put up a massive explanatory tutorial for one second for anyone curious enough to engage, wasting no time to carry on making pasta.
That base is gorgeous. Thanks for the video Dosh!
You should do a run where you can’t pick up buildings after placing them, every placement is final
That one might actually kill him, he needed a mod to enforce spaghettification, and even so he's still tearing up builds to make them neater and more compact.
The design is very human.
29:33 Sushi pipe, a technology cursed enough to rival the cargo wagon main bus.
it is NOT a cargo wagon bus rival
sushi pipes have been around since pumps could be filtered
soup pipe
I like calling it the Cloaca Maxima
slushy pipe
@Ribbons0121R121 That doesn't make it any less cursed.
''I require some more powerful ordnance'' and ''the place making solar panels has everything I need'' in the same sentence is something only a run like this could conjure
lore accurate factorio engineer
Slime mold mentioned!!!!
38:44 I love how this base grows organically. I will definitely use this mode one day.
I like this complaint about satellite+silo. Just another one remainder about Factorio #1 rule: "There is no such thing as 'major bug' - It's always user fault."
In the jargon we call that a PICNIC
Problem In Chair, Not In Computer
@eaoden8654 PEBCAK - Problem exists between chair and keyboard
You are the only person that complains that the torture method isn’t painful enough and come up with even more painful torture methods and are even willing to demonstrate how much more painful your suggestions would be
"More weight,"
I love the elevated rails covering part of the solar array
It looks organic. I love it
Actual Robotropolis
I made spaghetti for dinner and sat down for a fine youtube viewing experience with my meal only to be blessed by this. Thank you Father Dosh
What a thing to refresh to after rewatching Seablock for the billionth time
Beans.
@0Roach_🫘⚡🛢️!
An absolutely gorgeous base, but it has a different charm to a vanilla spaghetti base.
What I mean is a base that starts ordered and with some empty space, but over time thoughts like "maybe I can fit a small build for X here" and "I need another belt of inputs here" fills up available space and creates a barely working mesh of machines.
Snaking in another belt of iron plates halfway through a poorly thought out main bus is a fun experience.
Then you reach peak spaghetti, where modifying the whole mess in any way creates a whole chain of problems so long that it would be easier and faster to just abandon the whole thing and start from scratch.
There's a very specific charm to bases like that, where you can see the initial design that was slowly overtaken by growths, modified to fit in something else and so on.
in that way, ig spaghetti is like cancer, growths that eventually kill the host. megabases are like lab grown meat, conforming to predefined structures
It reminds me of a theme park when zoomed out
Automatium
I am only halfway through the video, but I can already say, that this factory should be in a art museum.
1:00:47 is the most beautiful vista I have seen in Factorio. This should genuinely make it into the main menu simulations, just breathtaking. Dosh does it once again.
I can't tell if this mod would make me stop stressing about base design or make my stress about base design 10x worse
It depends on if you bother upgrading old buildings
I really wish this video had higher resolutions available just for the higher bitrate, RUclips is doing it a huge disservice with it's aggressive compression.
Mmm this was a good spaghetti
This is how Factorio was meant to be played. Glad you’ve demonstrated its unique joys and horrors.
I love the occasional debris while he's building. Even after like 40 hours there's evidence of misplaced machines.
1:55 "I would be surprised if anyone has used a burner inserter like this before." I wish i could say that I haven't.
Your timestamp is wrong, that's after the end of the sentence and when he's already cut the video away to something else.
@Leyrann fixed
oh good someone else said it so i dont have to
looks like therapy to beat efficiency addition, or torture
9:50 In this case, stockpiling them would probably be preferable, not simply viable.
13:42 Bidirectional rails call for immense crossings, so it can get expensive.
>spaghetii run
>looks inside
>cancerous tumor of a base
Dosh, I want you to know that the title struck absolute fear into my heart. Looking forward to and/or utterly terrified to watch this one.
I agree, Italian Americans strike fear
1:02:32 it looks like an amoeba! I love it!
This build is amazing. It actually looks like a city.
the idea for this base is basically the city from Blame! (the manga)
1:00:24 If you look closely, you can see the satellite being taken out of the rocket silo, and being put onto the belt meant for space science. It worked after rebuilding the silo, because by that point, the offending inserter is gone.
I imagine there are now six satellites just chilling on the science sushi loop.
when he hooks up the white science you can see it next to the blue science, but it will never get inserted because that inserter is filtered!
What a wonderfully narrated traffic accident. I cannot look away, yet my dinner wants to escape every time a new part of the build metastasizes. Well done.
Hey Dosh fellow spaghetti builder here, your rocket was actually not the thing eating your satellite! It was the inserter that you placed to take space science out of it. You can see it in the top left at 1:00:20. You might want to check the science belt :P
2.0 strikes again!
Ah yes the european city base
You inspired me to give factorio another go. I decided, in my infinite wisdom, to make modular blocks to generate 90spm (blue assemblers, no modules) of every science from raw ores.
I made the mistake of taking the rate calculator as word-of-god, and quickly discovered that my final design for yellow science was suffering an inexplicable lack of copper plates for a reason i haven't yet deciphered.
The solution? Set up circuit conditions and spaghetti that reroutes any and all excess copper, from EVERY other part of the build that eats copper, back through the entire build to be sprinkled in riiight before the haunted green circuit block.
I like to think you would be proud of the mess i have made. I kept hearing your voice in my head, whispering that there must be SOME way to route these 20 undergrounds directly through an entire furnace block. And you were right every time. Truly, nothing can stop a truly determined engineer from getting junk from point A to point B
Pretty sure Wube hired Dosh to make this video to make new promo art
Hey wake up! New dosh dropped
Edit: that's definately one of the factorys of all time
Finally. Life will suck slightly less for about 65 minutes.
I'm already awake - sleep was replaced with Factorio.
I'm up, I'm up. Sheesh.
The factorio spaghetti bellcurve is real... this is gorgeous. It captures the essence of first playthroughs and yet it is so thought out. I loved this video Dosh.
Why do u write like chatgpt bruh
Playing this way genuinely looks good for the soul
Dosh finally made his magnum opus. Complete with an inserter trolling him at the very end.
Brava!
I don't know what it is, but I get a supreme sense of satisfaction from watching people who are a master at their craft, who are bored with it, come up with cheeky challenges.
You can't escape Pyanodons forever bean boy
he wouldn't even get to red circuits in py lmao.
@Ensivionis that a challenge?
you CANNOT keep running from pyanodon Josh
Pyanodon is ugly, really ugly.
wait, his name is JoshJoshington?
This run is great practice for the pre splitter phase of py though
Yes he can
@lazyman7505yeah, py is fully incompatible with Dosh's style
This is less spaghetti base and more like a dehydrated brick of instant ramen base.
Now this is how a factory should look.
You got a Tetris if the whole base starts flashing and disappeared shortly after.
1:12 and a new vid. Guess math exam is not that important
This is the math exam lol
Where did you find a download of my world?!
...oh wait, those train stations are straight, couldn't be me...
I've reached 28:00, that's much better!
Normally this is the stater base but the spaghetti is to well done so whe don’t care
This is the real way the game is supposed to be played
Oh no; not now! I need to get to work!
30:32 - one frame content
“the secong combinator”
I think i need a 30 minute video to explain it lol
you can run, but you cant hide from pyanodon, mr dosh
this is the most orderly spaghetti i've seen. it does look really amazing tho. if u want real spaghetti, add in a rule that u cant build the same building in a radius and it has to be built next to a different building. maybe the radius is 3x the size of the building. hmmm, not sure what to do about a rule for belts.
This makes me oddly nostalgic for my very first factorio base
when he needed him most, he didnt upload, when we needed him least, he didnt upload, but when we forgot about him, he uploaded
You know, looking at all this spaghetti, I think you might be ready to tackle Py. This is the kind of managed chaos that will get you through to splitters, electric miners, and trains.
The spaghetti actually looks kinda cool
This was some al dente factory work, my guy.
Spaghetti is beautiful ain't it
