We start this scenic drive in Glenwood Springs on I-70 in western Colorado, known for its hot springs and stunning mountain views. As we drive through Glenwood Canyon, the canyon’s walls rise dramatically up to 1,300 feet (400 meters) above the Colorado River, making it the largest canyon on the Upper Colorado River. The scenery is breathtaking, with lush greenery and rugged rock formations.
When we reach Dotsero, we turn around to head back. The return trip offers a new perspective on the canyon’s beauty, with the sunlight casting different shadows and highlights on the landscape. We make our way back to Glenwood Springs, enjoying the serene and majestic views once more.
Picture yourself driving a 12.5-mile road, with towering cliffs and the Colorado River flowing beside you. You can drive up and down Glenwood Canyon in about 45 minutes or take your time to enjoy the changing scenery.
