I love you guys, I stopped watching half way through to make the comment because you mad me smile soo many times. Love this, more please.... Right back to the second half
Great to see you guys collabing on this! I also started a podcast recently and don't know what I'm doing so no judgment here 😅 Looking forward to more episodes.
AI is an existential threat to creatives in front of the camera of microphone. The recent SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes were, in large part, fueled by that threat. It will not help us do our jobs better. For others, you are correct, it will be a new tool for creativity. It is not, however, simply a neutral tool waiting to be learned and implemented to the benefit of everyone.
Two of my best friends refuse to use AI because they say that it’s just using information that is already out there. So I guess it’s a morals thing for them. But I agree with Casey that it’s just an amazing tool. I also do what Alex does with Chat GPT and use it as a basis to start ideas or generate lists knowing that they must be rewritten. Good episode! Thank you!
Ooo I like this one, it sparked a thought. Fire is out there, and Humans have been using it or thousands of years. So why do we, including all your friends used kettles? Is it because kettles are simpler, faster and easier than use than camp 😂s fires to get to sample task completed? I think yes . Humans natural Innovators. I think Ai has it's place, needs to be kept in check, will never replace human ingenuity and on the whole helps us do the boring stuff.
I possibly know less now then when I started the episode. Lol You guys are an absolute riot! GPT... write the sections... - emu stores - terrible movie suggestions - nearwal - US and British slang - the monstrosities - just get ahold of us ...and on and on... hahaha It ended too quick. Keep it up. 😂
Thank you for this talk. My friend, copywriter envies me because he thinks, he's going to lose his job because of AI. I'm actually wasn't driving, I was assembling the rough cut of my RUclips video about multicam in Davinci =)
Hi Alex, learning a lot from you about Davinci! How did you guys recorded and edited this remote podcast? Can you please take me through the process? I am trying to do the same thing with me and my brother. Thanks.
Just discovered the show, and binged all three episodes. I’ve learned so much from both of you, so it’s cool to see you on the same show. :) Also…in the thumbnail, how are you both characters from Up? I feel like Casey is a young Mr. Fredrickson and Alex is a grown Russel… 👀🤣
Hi Stuart, I know it may be simple to do but can you show how to do some good giant effects. Iv seen people showing how to do it with other programs but none with Davinci Resolve. I haven't started using Davinci Resolve properly apart from joining my gopro clips together with transitions but I'd like to do alot more. Thanks.
Love both of your channels!! Thank you for showing us how to use resolve! I’ve learned SO MUCH from each of you! What did you guys use to record this? Restream?
@@MrAlexTech thanks for the info. It’s a nice setup! I’m Mac only and use ecamm live, but this looked super clean and clear! And truly thank you for teaching the way you do. I jumped on Davinci back in September and I’ve learned SO MUCH from you!
I'd like to see them add the ability to browse the web for images from the standard file open dialog box. I honestly don't know why they haven't done that years ago. That feature would be useful in every graphics program.
In German Television there is a „show“ called Schlefaz, translated it is „badest films of all times“ 10:41 showing films which are so bad that it is absolutely funny to watch. 11:00
If *Noa-ral* doesn't work &...(Alex) Or *Noo-ral* doesn't work...(Casey) Try... *N-you-ral* or *Nyoo-ral* even *N'yew-ral* (like a Yew tree). . Love the podcasts guys. Entertaining and informative... accents aside 😉 Hey, I can't talk; I have an Aussie accent.. so.. ya know?. Eh? Nah, yeah. Bewdy mates. . Regarding fake videos of real people. I just watched (this morning my time) a news clip of one of our own, well known, entrepreneurs "Dick Smith" (yes, the *real* person) being interviewed by a TV channel. His image and those of other "celebs" are being used by advertisers on that look like the real person has done these (product) interviews, but they were never there! These are AI created "Deep-Fake" videos - that you can't tell from the real thing; even the voice is perfect. These advertisers were never even given permission to use this faked footage, using the image of the "real" people involved. don't seem to care about stopping this, either. They may be about to get sued by a very ...well off, shall we say... person, who is a victim of this. So there you have it... no morality involved.
fun stuff. Just bought the Ace Pro action camera from Insta360 and want to try the 4 sec AI cartoon feature it has. I will let you know if I have any fun luck.
As content creators on youtube, I’d love to hear your thoughts about creators having to disclose the use of Ai during creation. Should they have to? How much Ai was used? This seems to be a big topic lately.
Ref 18:50 mins into the vid. I'm an old boy (49) who's seen a lot of automation take ove people jobs. But ten years ago if some said to me some kid will become a millionaire recording himself playing computer games I would not have believed you, but lots have. Humans will always strive to create, sometimes to the detriment of the planet. But often to the benefit. No matter what AI does, I think as a species we are designed to create and Innovate and that something AI hasn't got.
i used the auto sub titles for cc for a movie. it worked well but was not perfect... though it saved me hours of work, i did have to go through ever part to be sure it was in sync and the spellings were correct. And there were a lot of errors let me tell you. Put in one forign word into your script and the auto subtitles will get is worng and differnt in every context used in. Actors trend to slur thier word and AI does not understand that. SO AI is imperfect and lacks the intuitive understanding of a person. THAT is why it is called ARTIFICIAL intelligence. [Remember this TAB meand Totally Artificial Beverage, who drank that stuff] in short you are barking up the right tree. AI is a tool to hasten the monotonous labor intensive processes but not all ... Also magic mask is amazing, but if you think about it, it is really a one trick pony that is a very good piece of programing... Good point if AI can make this look market abel, like very other marketing promo, you are right it is not unique and i would venture to say it is not art. Very intresting. you sumed it up well, AI is just automation .. < J
I think AI will be a lot like the movie Multiplicity. Which will get out of hand 🤪 🤫 as we try to make our lives better. Once AI tries to clone itself (like a cassette recorder of a cassette recording) and information will be lost 😅😂😅
tbh i take massive issue with the 'learn something else' comment. that's really shitty and smug to tell to someone who may have spent their entire life perfecting a skill to have AI replace it in a couple years.
9:50 I have to be honest and say I ABSOLUTELY do NOT agree on AI being a good thing for art, like paintings. Sure, it's easy for those who can't actually do art, but the tools as they currently are, are essentially theft tools. the companies behind the tools have made the models with data they did NOT get the permission of from authors (Yes, authors too are threatened by this!) and artists. It's not like an artist should just "paint a different thing" "It is going to have its place"... That is so..... That is CONDESCENDING and an INSULT to the painters, digital artist, concept artists, 2d and 3d artists and more. Artists have discovered their OWN work being used by AI tools WITHOUT these particular artist's consent. That is THEFT. Authors have discovered THEIR OWN WORK in AI tools, again WITHOUT their consent. That is THEFT. The artwork that can "easily be reproduced by AI and that might not be as popular anymore as AI work will be" is the artwork that was fed into the AI tool as unlawful acquired data, AKA STOLEN artwork. That AI art that you admire is based on works by REAL artists that should "paint a different thing" and REAL artwork "that is going to have it's place".... Casey, you make it sound like REAL artwork is going to be and should be second in place to AI work (in essence is worth less than AI art work), while AI is the result of actual REAL art made by REAL HUMAN artists. That is an INSULT to those artists. Especially since they explicitly did NOT give PERMISSION! DeviantArt had the audacity to auto opt-IN all the artwork made by their users for the use of AI tools WITHOUT even TELLING their users about it. It's the same now for Dropbox and other sites. Bots are now actively scraping sites (including all social media) for artwork and grabbing that artwork, again WITHOUT THE PERMISSION from the artists, to be used in the data set of the AI tools. Sure, for the users of AI art tools it's very easy, because it's insanely cheap. But the result is that actual human artists ARE going to be out of a job because those people who in the past would need art from them are now turning to AI tools. I have artist friends who were told, after publishing THEIR OWN HAND MADE ART that that same artwork now had been used by someone to feed it into an AI tool, WITHOUT their permission (!!!!!!) to generate new art and they even had the audacity of selling said artwork. And they even boasted about it to the artist. So, artist not going to be out of a job? Think again! Authors (scriptwriters, novelists, etc) not going to be out of a job? Think again! There is a reason so many authors stood up against Amazon because of the trash "books" that were sold on amazon, "written" by AI and published by an "author". There is a reason why the AMERICAN copyright organisation has deemed AI books not being something that should get copyright. Europe is making laws about this as well. There is a reason why HOLLYWOOD stood up against the use of AI. There was a strike from authors (scriptwriters and such) and actors alike AGAINST the use of AI in Hollywood productions. Maybe you missed/forgot that? It's astonishing to me how people, like yourself, can talk so condescendingly about the work of actual human beings in comparison to AI tools. Especially when those AI tools can make this artwork because the data sets use STOLEN work (and I AM talking about millions upon millions of STOLEN artwork!!!) to "easily reproduce" this artwork. Oh, "just learn to paint something else". NO, the AI tools should NOT USE the work of actual HUMAN artists (be it painters, authors, or any other creative form) WITHOUT their explicit permission and without these artists being paid for it. And mind you, it's not only "the small artists who do this as a hobby or who are just starting out". No, it's also the big artists whose works have been stolen. When you now see a painting with AN ACTUAL AUTOGRAPH on it (which used to be a proof of AUTHENTICITY!!!!) you now have to wonder if this painting is actually made by the artists, or if it's been made by AI. Because the FREAKING AI tools now also include the ACTUAL artist's autograph. And I do NOT mean an interpretation of it. NO, it's the actual autograph. And, again, the artists did NOT give permission for that. So... this devalues the ACTUAL work of an artist because galleries, auction houses and buyers can NOT actually trust the autograph anymore. So, again, the livelihood of the artists are threatened here. If the users of AI tools would be required to pay a NORMAL AND FAIR PRICE for every single artwork AND that money would go DIRECTLY towards the actual artists, THEN the AI tools are indeed mere tools. Not now. Now they threaten actual human artists. ./end of rant My apologies for the rant. I am not a painter artist myself, but I AM an author (not yet published, but I will be in the future) and I have several painter artists as friends. This is a subject that is rather close to the heart, so when I hear someone talk about it like this..... yeah, a rant WILL get out of me before I know it. Mind you, also for others reading this comment, this is not meant as a personal attack on Casey as a person. This is ONLY a response to this particular statement of Casey.
there will be video editors always but a lot of work will be gone. this trend is the same with photographers and videographers. yesterday i saw videos of two! established filmmakers going out fo comercial filiming business and they both said the same. customers have no budged or dont want to pay good money so they hire a guy with a camera and a gimbal, thats it. there are big business jobs but they are hard to get for most. the future is cheap ass shit content or high level productions. most middle of the road filmmakers will quit
