It went downhill from starting of this movie. I didn't like the soundtrack and the martial arts. Overall it was okay. If they plan to continue both the wachowski's need to work on the sequel and need a new choreographer for fight scenes. Old Agent smith was more menacing and the agents didnt felt a threat in this. The story could have been way better.

If you dudes didn't know Hugo was going to be in it but he was doing Broadway and at first they were going to wait for him but the studio was pressing for the movie to be done immediately so they had to give in they were also going to do it without Lana wachowski so she made the decision to come do it herself it's also why they were taking so many jabs at WB in the movie

I'm glad Morpheus said "The Docbots are giving you crap odds to survive," because that means we're finally acknowledging the deep lore that isn't in the movies themselves. A Docbot is the robot from the first movie that Neo first sees in Matrix 1 when he wakes up that unplugs and flushes him. They were designed for medical purposes but now they guard and monitor the livestock batteries.

They dropped the ball big time with this movie IMO. The action sequences just weren't up to par with the previous movies, and I didn't care for all the meta stuff they tried to do in this either.

It's weird because the action scenes lacked but the story was good, the idea of where to go from Revolutions was like "damn, that's good idea" and the characters were great. I feel dumb for wanting dumb stuff. But I'm glad the characters got a happy ending after the depressing ending of Revolutions.

The One was NEVER two people. Neo should have rediscovered his old strength when he rescued Trinity. Instead we got them holding hands to cause an explosion. Neo didn't shoot a single gun and just repelled everything with Ozzy Osbourne like pazazz. The movie went absolutely nowhere and disappointed in the end.
@Lee Brown not when he's lost all his abilities it doesn't. He didn't need to use guns since the first one because he could fly, freeze time and all sorts. Nobody said it shouldn't/can't be different. Just don't go breaking the continuity of the previous lore and shitting on it for the sake of being woke

I loved watching yall reactions to this movie. Alot of people complained about the action scenes which I agree they were lacking. However I always was more into the metaphysical, philosophical, reflection on society and I thought this movie still delivered on that. So I think people were just looking at the surface and missed the deeper meaning underlying which to quote the Analyst at the end "the sheeple love to be controlled." Everyone's thinking is still be controlled by judging this movie incorrectly and totally missed its point about being manipulated by their feelings.
Guess I'll be the one to say that they enjoyed this movie and loved how it all unfolded. Given that this installment was written from a point of loss, and grief I think it nailed those aspects in the story. I'm glad they were able to evolve the story and world to give Neo and Trinity a new ending.
The "Catrix" end credits scene nails it for me. This is a middle finger from Lana to the movie studio. As explained in the film, the studio were going to reboot the series with or without her - so Lana wanted to make a statement about the present culture of rebooting movie franchises. With this in mind while watching the film it still doesn't make it a good movie.
We (the viewer) should be looking for NEW stories and NEW ideas. We shouldn't be looking forward to rebooting of old franchises.

The movie was just a vanity/passion/grieving project for Lana Wachowskis that should’ve been put on ice until both Lilly & Lana Wachowski’s could have worked on the project.
Lana said in an interview something to the affect of: We’ve already made Hong Kong Kung Fu fight scenes, now we’ll have comedy/story-telling tell the fights….
….this tells me the wrong people were involved this time around.
it's funny that one of you talk about the fight scenes being different and the movie not being "too matrix" while Lana is actually talking about all that in relation to the fandom in this film, I really get why not enjoy that but I also think she was really smart with that, I liked a lot and it was SO COOL to watch it in imax
It's very obvious once pointed out but Neo almost always uses his force push and hardly anything else is used by him

Overall I liked the movie even though I had issues
Liked:
- The beginning of trying to figure out what’s going on.
- The fact that Neo is placed back in the matrix and he has been taking the blue pills daily to forget what’s going on.
- I liked that Neo and Trinity got a happy ending and are alive.
- Some of the action was good
- I liked some of the callbacks to the earliest movies though as they went on it was becoming an issue especially seeing Fishburnes Morpheus shown side by side with new Morph.
Disliked
- The new Morpheus was not interesting at all and didn’t feel like Morpheus. And the fact that Laurence Fisburne wasn’t even asked to come back I’d ridiculous.
- Agent Smith was not good and not menacing. It would have been so much better seeing Hugo weaving being revealed to be his boss. He said they worked out a schedule for him to be in the movie then Lana decided move on with a different actor.
- Didnt really have the same feel. that wasn’t really a big issue but it was noticeable.
- I thought it was random and dumb that at the end when your got out the cafe with all those people surrounding them, that trinity and neo just left everyone else there.. like WTF.
- The story could have been done a lot better.
I agree with your opinion of the movie. I feel like the character of Morpheus was just names like that to nostalgia bait us. I did like the agent Smith tho, but then again I love Jonathan Groff. Neil Patrick Harris' character grew on me, even tho I didn't like him at the beginning. Though I have to agree that none of them can measure up to Hugo Weaving, so I'm just accepting that his programming or something go corrupted or whatever and this is how he is now.
Theres something weird behind the scenes of the movie, supposedly Laurence Fishbourne wasnt even approached to be in this (and in the movie they dont use "oh morpheus died") but Hugo Weaving (agent smith) was approached but had scheduling conflicts... 😕
Thats because in the Matrix online game, they killed Morpheus so this was sticking to the continuity of the world they've made.

Lmao I'm so happy I didn't expect much from Regurgitation and didn't watch the trilogy again, I just watched some reactions. (Even though it's worth watching the first 2 again and again and again, timeless classics)
ill probably wait for it to go on sale or put it on a birthday list or something. i was cautiously hesitant when it was announced to begin with.
This movie is tough to figure out…
I liked the story, loved the continuity, and really liked how they handled the themes in it.
But the action was 100% underwhelming, like they didn’t even try…
So, I don’t know how to feel about it…
It’s not Star Wars sequels-levels of bad… far from it.
But it’s not as great as the originals either.
Doesn't help that we (the audience) have gone from seeing what an absolute badass Keanu Reeves is as John Wick, to returning to playing Neo (THE character that made him an action hero) and he spends 90% of fight scenes going like this 🖐and force pushing everyone in sight. And when he does get physical, it's lack luster.
I like this movie for everything else that they did...but if they're planning to make more (and they are apparently) LET KEANU FIGHT!!!

Yeah the fight sequences were totally different because they didn't have that one guy who did the fight choreography "woo pang" .. but I actually liked the movie though I really enjoyed it
They did stray away hard from the traditional kung fu movie style movies, like john woo flicks, drunken master, jet li style flicks etc the fighting keanu is doing here we be better off watching john wick for the fighting

The first movie will always be the best and can't be matched, but all the sequels are great too. I appreciate them decades before everyone else learns to. The complaints about this one weren't in 2 & 3, yet those were hated by almost everyone for nearly 20 years, which proves that people wouldve still complained no matter what. With time, yall will like this one too. These movies age like fine wine. You can't make a good judgment after one or a couple viewings.
So, interesting idea, never gonna HAPPEN, but hear me out. What if Neo and Trinity get too much of a taste for the power they have now that there's two of them and they end up being the new villains? Think of it. Neo has been saying since The Matrix Reloaded that he really doesn't give a damn what happens to us so long as Trinity is safe. Now Trinity is a Jesus just like HE'S a Jesus which means she's guaranteed safe no matter what. So what's stopping them from a heel turn NOW?

Let's called this movie what it is: a turd. I'm sorry but let's not beat around the bush and be critical, this movie didn't need to be made and you can clearly see the director didn't even wanna! She even joked about it in the movie!
I'm glad I've got to rewatch the 1st one in cinema, nothing can beat how iconic on so many level the 1st Matrix.
Best film I saw in 2021
3 times i saw this movie... i learned to like it more.. Can Matrix 1999 be topped or even properly followed? probably not, the whole idea of the trilogy is that infinite escalation leads to reset.. so we should not expect more of anything from this one or any other ones at all.. what we should expect is something different, and that is what we got.
Agents are replaced by bots, to me the scene where ppl literally turn into bombs and drop from window is way more menacing than any agent. Agents have the cool factor tho.
The entire part where Mr.Anderson is struggling to figure reality out is very human, the move is more human.
All im saying is, the movie is destined for failure it could never properly follow The Matrix, once u let it go, u may start to enjoy the thing for what it is

As someone who feels like The Matrix really should’ve ended after the first one I love that the movie gave the audience and studio who keep bugging for more the proverbial middle finger.

I agree on one hand, but it can’t be two the ones… He was called the One. Make the next Matrix trilogy with the One a female. Without being the Two, Trinity was still my favorite character over Neo, I don’t like the fact that they messed up the lore.
I loved the movie. But then again, I "get it."
It wasn't a bad movie, but for me personally not seeing Lawrence Fishburn as Morphius felt off and keeps bothering me not seeing him in this.

This isnt my favorite Matrix movie, but i am glad it was made. It closed up a decent amount of open ends from the OG trilogy despite lacking in many other ways
WB and director fo the movie made statement last week regarding how the film 'flopped' world wide. In light of this, they said there is 'no' follow up matrix movie. They are concluding the matrix films since it didnt go how it was expected. No more thank goodness.

I pretty much said the same thing. It was a good movie that didn't have to be made.
The Action & Fight Scenes... can't match up to Reloaded... or the First Movie... the Scale wasn't as big... and I don't think they had the Chinese Kung-fu Team helping with the fight choreography. There was some good parts... but it just didn't hit the spot... like when you're hungry and you go out to eat... the meal was alright... but your still hungry, so you grab some more food on the way home. lol... 🤷🏾♂️

I love LOOVE Keanu Reeves but this movie, this storyline wasn't it. Like you said, we could have done without. Him having the same look as in John Wick definitely didn't help for me, neither did the new characters/actors. I would give it 6/10 and only cuz Keanu and the lady who plays Trinity is in it.
Watched the movie for free. I want my 2 hours and 27 mins back. I'm starting to believe the theory that this movie was made intentionally bad. First 30 mins in I was like ok ok it's very different but I'm kinda digging it, then as it went on and I started to watch the fight scenes, the exiles dressed up like they're playing street roller hockey in the 80's, the Merovingian dressed like a bum (although his line about Zuckerberg was awesome), the ridiculousness of the 'bot swarm' which looked more like a zombie horror scene than the matrix, then the analyst saying 'oh look I can do bullet time Neo, we got that idea from you'. TF? Bullet time was a thing from the FIRST matrix, agents did bullet time whenever they wanted. Ridiculous movie 3/10.

Resurrections is to the OG Trilogy, like Scary Movie is to Scream...
Honestly this was not a Matrix movie for me. It was wonderful that Neo and Trinity got their happy ending but that was mainly because Lana Wachowski made this movie for her parents because she missed them so much after they died. She said Neo and Trinity represented her parents.
I didn't like the agents or morpheus either. I also didn't feel the music hit the spot. Or the look. The whole feel of the movie was just not Matrix to me and I found it wanting.
I just don't consider it part of the trilogy.
Maybe the movie by itself would be cool as a spin-off, because that's how it feels - but it's not part of the original trilogy. At least that's my opinion.
Worst action/fighting choreography of the franchise...Idk how they can fuck that up, but they did. Neo spamming his force push/block move was lame after awhile. And the big jump/flight scene off the top of the building with them was some of the worst wire work I've ever seen...Took me right out of the moment. Having said all that there were SOME concepts/ideas I did like in this, but overall it was disappointing..
It was not really necessary to re-watch the trilogy for this crap...

I genuinely was fine with story, and the new cast even... but the action though... I'm sorry but this movie needed a proper 2nd Unit, I know she wanted to direct wholly on her own from top to bottom but bringing some of the old stunt team only for a little bit of consultation clearly wasn't enough. She just doesn't have a really good eye for strong action sequences.

While many of us can clearly say that the first Matrix is still the superior movie of the series, personally for some strange reason, I like this one better. None of the faults broke the movie for me, and it was overall a pretty fun watch.
