Plz read before commenting about the Israel-Gaza bit:
A lot of people are misinterpreting this bit so I'll clarify. Go to the description of his Pine Gap video: ruclips.net/video/XHMa-Ba-2Mo/видео.html. You will find the exact same Michael West article that I cite (source 2). If you read it, the expert interviewed said that the aim of Pine Gap's surveillance would be to reduce civilian casualties, i.e. Boy Boy lied about what his *own source* said.
Is it still possible that the expert is wrong and Pine Gap is used for malicious intentions in Gaza? Absolutely. However, Boy Boy has not cited any evidence that supports that conclusion, instead he cites evidence to the contrary.
Saying "well look at what's happening in Gaza, if Pine Gap is being used, then clearly it's being used to attack civilians" relies on assumptions and a misunderstanding of Israel's role in the conflict. Of all the U.S. and Australia's faults, they clearly don't have the same callous disregard for human life that Israel have, so you can't just assume that they would help Israel with that. And plus, Israel don't just explicitly target civilians for the sake of it, they just don't really care if they get in their way. So if there's a small chance if, say, a hospital is a secret Hamas base, they will take that change because they don't really care if they are wrong. But if, say, Pine Gap gave them intelligence that gave them a high degree of confidence that a certain target was actually a Hamas base, they would obviously use that. i.e. Pine Gap could lower the chance that a given target is not Hamas.
Once again, I don't actually know if Pine Gap is being used maliciously or not, all I'm saying is that you'd need evidence and you can't just assume so. The only evidence Boy Boy cited contradicts him.

yeah no cause that he's saying is isreal isnt just targeting hamas. They dont care about civilians. Thats what a genocide is. They're bombing the hospitals so more civilians die, not cause there is a chance hamas is in there

"Of all the U.S. and Australia's faults, they clearly don't have the same callous disregard for human life that Israel have..."
I have nothing on Australia, but U.S. really?! Alright let's go:
      1. Nagasaki, Japan. See the first nuclear bomb used in Hiroshima, may have been used to end WW2 for good. But the second wasn't necessary, because the U.S. already knew Japan were going to surrender however you can't officially surrender in 3 days time (the Germans took 3 months after Hitler ended himself), and the U.S. knew that "Fat Boy" was dropped in Nagasaki just to try what a higher yield nuclear bomb would do to a big metropolis. I guess trying the power of nuclear bombs on the innocent isn't a callous disregard for human life.
      2. Cambodia and Laos. The U.S. carpet bombed both those countries for the crimes of bordering Vietnam. Both are still suffering from that to this with literally tons of unexploded ordinance scattered through out both countries. Fun fact, actually it's not fun at all it's pretty sad: Population wise Laos was hit the worse, with about the equivalent of 2 tons of TNT being dropped into Laos per person living there. That's just the US giving free explosives, not a callous disregard for human life I'm sure.
      3. Backing up dictator, after dictator if they had access to resource, but more importantly if they weren't communist. Here's just a few names you may know: Saddam Hussein, Muammar Gaddafi, Adolf Hitler (before WWII had started), Augusto Pinochet, and so many more.

@@MartaeAUFeel like RUclips may have hidden my last comment, thus I'm rewording it, if you see it twice I'm sorry.
      4. It is debatable, because they never arrived to a conclusion. But pretty much every other 3 letter agency (DOJ, DEA and FBI) believed they did it, the CIA just never admitted to clandestine operation on U.S. soil. Also I got it wrong it wasn't for funding the war on terror,
      5. That time a U.S. president, it was Obama, won a Noble Peace prize, and followed it by authorizing drone strikes that killed civilians, including children and even U.S. citizens.
      6. The time U.S. overthrew the democratic elected president of Bolivia. How dare Bolivia elect a socialist president.
      7. The time the U.S. funded the military dictatorship of Egypt, Trump even said Sisi was is favorite dictator.
      8. The time U.S. supported 30 authoritarian regimes, that time is the present day by the way.
If Pine Gap is being used to reduce casualties, like official sources state, than it's biggest failure in modern surveillance history, given Israel managed to stack up more casualties in 3 months of invading Gaza, than Russia did in 3 years of invading Ukraine. Either the U.S./Australia intel is abysmal, or maybe Pine Gap is being used for another purpose.
EDIT: The previous comment didn't actually disappear or get hidden by RUclips just wasn't loading properly. I've deleted it to minimize confusion.

The only reason Russia in the 90s was "peaceful" and wasn't expected to invade former Soviet states was because they were too weak at that time. In my opinion, the self-determination of nations is the single most important point against the "NATO expansion" argument, but it is often overlooked by people who view the Ukraine war as some distant conflict over imperial zones of influence. Why should I, a Polish person, ever care about some imperial power being upset about me joining the aliance I choose? Why should Ukrainians ever care that Russians believe they have some claims to a buffer zone between them and the west? It's not about empires who see the world as zones of influence, least of all about some australian guys. It is about us and how we choose to determine our policy. Central and eastern europeans can make friends with any country they please and if you are angry about it, go on an sanction NATO. But justifying this as a cassus belli would mean that once you are big enough you have some innate, natural right to dictate your neighbours what they can and can't do. This is, sadly, a reality, but arguing that this is right is evil.

Just telling the parts of the story that suits his world view, like when he said Ukrainians just supported nazis because they were evil, completely ignoring the fact that a genocide in Ukraine was committed not even ten years before, and the position of Ukraine in the Russian civil war not even 20 years before, is certainly something. Also in the Afghanistan episode he kinda just ignores the soviet backed coup that started the conflict itself, and acts as if the evil American CIA backed Mujahideen started it. The Chinese role in training and supplying the Mujahideen he also ignores because it doesn't support his western aggression towards the peaceful communists theory.

Frankly it bothers me how little pushback there is against the North Korea vid… like ok great you can get other haircuts (doesn’t change that people were publicly shamed on TV for having different ones in the past also) and not be executed, but we’re still talking about a regime which starves its own people rather than accepting outside help when there are famines, which murders people for watching foreign media, has horrid labour camps, and so on. Good job making it seem like just a silly quirky but ultimately harmless place.
Obviously this critique isn’t aimed at you, it’s a general frustration! Great vid btw! 😊

13:57 the deal that is mentioned was only ever proposed. West Germany wanted to make a deal with the Soviet Union where in turn for East Germany reuniting with west Germany, NATO wouldn't expand to the east. However this deal never happened as when the US president heard of the planned proposition he opposed it, instead suggesting that West Germany should pay money to the Soviet Union to reunite with east Germany. This was the deal that was actually signed. The proposition that NATO wouldn't expand east was only an idea that didn't come to be.

First of all, boyboy is probably not promoting this on purpose. Yes, he is heavily biased, but he owns a political youtube channel with an agenda. An agenda, formed by being an immigrant who had his home literally bombed by NATO. This, his Anti-West posture is adapted from parents and his own journey down the political spectrum.
I’d like to also state that you, as well, face bias. Clearly you’re pro-west, and you show that through your response.
Of which, is really not substantial. It paints a picture that boyboy is some intentionally lying bot that is wrong at every turn, when really it’s an over exaggeration of boyboy’s over-exaggeration. Don’t get me started over the fact that you deliberately seem to glaze over trains of thought-not really addressing the argument. For example, (and I can’t refute every claim because I don’t have endless leisure time) your entire section on NATO expansion doesn’t cover the fact that just because military action isn’t mentioned, everything would be fine. No, part of boyboy’s argument was that Russian provocation, popular opinion, and Putin’s regime would only be radicalized as a response to NATO expansionism.
You also seem to glaze the US way too much. Apparently, direct conquest is the only form of Imperialism to you? No, the West often approaches everything with an agenda. Practically, it’s the Western form of Imperialism. Even fighting Boko-Haram in Africa is carried with the afterthought that French Modern Colonialism would be maintained through the support. Interventions in Syria also had major implications and were also signs of US Imperialism.
Really, this video is not as structurally sound as I’d like it to be. Of course, it’s not done professionally, but the end result is the fact that its claim is far greater than what it actually proves.
boyboy is a politicized RUclipsr, yes. Propagandist? Yes. He twists the truth through charged statements. Crooked liar? No. His general charge, that NATO plays a major role in inciting the conflict in Ukraine, continues to stand. After all, everything stems back to their horrible meddling in Russian politics that led to the reaction.

    • @MartaeAU
      @MartaeAU  15 дней назад +4

While I am obviously open to valid criticism over some of the arguments I made, I wholly reject the idea that BoyBoy *isn't* intentionally lying to support his agenda. I cover at 4:14 that he lied about Biden's old position of NATO expansion, and then he cut mid-sentence to make him say something that fits his argument. 17:28 he lies about an article that he shows on screen. 41:18 he says the US "refused to negotiate" then shows a clip of Blinken which he cut off midsentence to make it sound like he said something he didn't. 46:44 he did a similar thing with Biden. I could really go on, I see no way that you could interpret stuff like this as anything other than intentional dishonesty. There are plenty of people I disagree with who I don't think are intentionally lying (even Hasan, I think is probably just a massive idiot, not someone with intentional malice).
At no point did I say that no mention of military action means everything will be fine. I even explained that the concerns the letter raised were valid, just that the letter does not argue that NATO expansion will cause a war, which is what Boy Boy said. I was pretty thorough with my argument, and I addressed all of Aleksa's points, including all the ones you mentioned (Russian provocation, popular opinion, and Putin’s regime) and how there isn't really any evidence that Russia wouldn't have invaded Georgia and Ukraine if NATO expansion didn't happen.
I did glaze the US, yes, and maybe my tone could have been more measured, but that was because I don't think the US did much wrong specifically with regards to Ukraine (exception being meddling in Russian election, of course). If I was making a video, for instance, debunking someone running defense for the Afghan war, my tone would come off as anti-American.

@@MartaeAUHi, Thanks for your civil response. I apologize for not getting back sooner. I am writing on a phone so this may be hard to follow, or missing parts.
For your claims that he is intentionally lying, I disagree partially. I believe there is extreme bias, yet much of the evidence you provide of him “lying” can be written off as ellipsis. The context in most of these samples isn’t so severe as to make all of his points redundant.
Case in point, even if there wasn’t military action as suggested by Biden, he still claimed a violent response from Russia. This, as I think we can agree on, is one of the primary reasons for the war and Putin’s agenda - anti-western sentiment. This is a dishonest portrayal of information because of the format, but can be written off as ellipsis, since he still is trying to push an agenda.
I’d like to make it clear (in forensics and debate) that oftentimes people will not directly sell themselves out when quoting from a card. If they can find a way to make the evidence sound more appealing, then it will be most likely used. The only downside is that your opposing side will often just point out the glaring gap in cross-examination or crossfire (Depending on which formats you want to prefer, these are just examples), and has a point of weakness in your argument. They have to prove that, with the extra information, that the general warrant provided is false. This isn’t accomplished here as it still solicits the same understanding. Hopefully this isn’t just yap, but in basic terms - omitting parts of the text in order to get a more appealing quote, is not inherently lying. It’s cheeky but as long as it’s not literal forgery and is in the same heart I regard it as being fine. I’ve seen it done on the national level, where the full context of evidence isn’t as explained (and shouldn’t be). It becomes awkward because the opposition draws from the same exact source 😭.
The Putin article also is an example of omitting certain parts of the text. Putin wanted to join NATO immediately, but was rejected is the general idea. The tone here is dishonest, I agree, but not really a lie per se.
I say MOST now because well, I can’t explain the corruption investigation on if I take your evidence as true. I think this one was actual intentional misinformation. Or, he didn’t read the article, got the wrong impression from it, or read some politicized version. Either way, I can’t justify this one.
The last one falls under the same category as the rest.

Thank you for your insight, which is often hard for westerners without experience in our area to understand. While we in "Eastern" Europe do have close ties on some levels with "ethnic" and ideological Russians and tolerate their "culture", we have long lost the illusions that Kremlin has changed for the better since occupying us. It has nothing to do with America, but just an organic converging with the "western", still democratic world and love for personal freedoms and development. For those who broke free from Russia's yoke during and after WW1, it was not a move west, but return to our natural place in Europe which was violently (despite how Soviet propagsnda portrayed it) cut around 1939-1940. We were not the weaker or poorer brothers in our first period of independance, but equal partners (my Baltic country was #7 in Europe by average economic and other indicators). It was our choice to do away with Moscow's rule not only in Glastnostj and 1990, but all trough the Soviet occupation. For Ukraine it was more complicated, because they got russified and opressed centuries befure us, but majority of all of us (as well as in Georgia, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan and others) does not agree being under Kremlin's sphere of influence for a long time now. Countries have interests, but people can choose alliances on their own, if democratic principles prevail. All of our "revolutions" are grassroots movements and it is the greatest insult possible, verging on genocide to suggest otherwise. Neo-realism is a very dumb fascist ideology.

      Not necessarily, no.
Russian intelligence and/or high command might simply have massively underestimated the ‘Wests’ willingness to endlessly throw material at Ukraine.
Or they simply saw the west-friendly Ukrainian government as too much of a danger, or they might simply have been stupid. That’s also where the digital paper trail sort off leans towards, and why we’ve been seeing an increase of Russian intelligence ‘incidents’ of all kinds, unlike at the very beginning of the invasion.
Also, Russia is still a sovereign nation, and a sovereign neighbor thinking about joining NATO shouldn’t really lead to immediate war, they’re still guilty for that.
NATO expansion simply aims to introduce a commonly understood rationale for the Russian behavior so far. The plan completely backfiring doesn’t really disprove the theory, as the reaction in it entirely lies out of Russian control and Putin is very well mental enough to think in these borderline Stalinist geopolitical terms and even acting on them.

Damn dude, as a person from the occupied part of Ukraine, more precisely from Donetsk, I can say that most of the youth and understanding people, in my case classmates aged 13-14 and their parents, simply took their things and left, running away from the war in 2014. My family and I did not have the opportunity or means to run anywhere, since I was in a good school where fairly rich children studied, but I am from a simple family that simply really wanted me to have a future, a future that Russia took away from me and many others. Watching videos like yours makes me cry with joy, that at least someone understands everything that was happening then. You can talk about radical right-wingers many times, but these people gave their lives and health for our country and I don't care how bad their position was, for me they will be heroes, if someone wants me to condemn such people, then make the Russians leave our country and stop doing all this horror. By the way, it's ironic that many people who believe Russian propaganda say that we were saved, then I have a question, how did my friends from Bucha deserve a bullet in the back of the head? They were from Donetsk, they fled from the war and it still caught up with them. One guy 2 years younger than me was killed, he survived the loss of his family and found a new family in 2013 in 2014 his family was able to go to relatives and then I don't really know what happened to him, but I followed his social media and the last post was about the fear of dying in the basement, after which nothing else came out, after a while I asked my friend from Kyiv to go and find out if he survived, but no...
In any case, once again, thank you very much for your hard work! It's a shame to see that such channels do not gain the popularity they deserve, and people who spread false narratives and propaganda get it. I found your channel literally 3-4 days ago and immediately subscribed, I hope that popularity will come to you.
P.S. I am pro-Ukrainian, but I can’t leave Donetsk because of my old granma, and my mom lives in Crimea, so I have nowhere to run, all I can do is try not to end up in the occupying army.

Their brand of flashy "activism" content has done a lot to damage any genuine conversations, but it sure does make lots of money. Hmm.
To believe that the US is solely responsible for all these conflicts is nothing short of American exceptionalism. It's borderline racist tbh, because it implies that other peoples are so incapable of steering their own destiny that the only way anything can ever happen for them is with the guiding hand of an outside force. It's the same erasing of culture and history that every oppressive colonialist power has perpetrated on people they deem lesser. People like them have been doing it since the war started, speaking about Ukraine in the same exact way Russia does.
The Ukraine video is bad enough, but I had the misfortune of watching one of their latest videos in which they had Hasan spout dribble about the American military. Hasan went as far as to push the idea that the modern American military following through with consensual security deals as well as bolstering the sovereignty of strategic allies is akin to colonialism. I cannot tell you how much this pissed me off as an actual victim of colonialism, a direct descendant of the Lenca native to Central America.
I often try to see the nuance in things, but learning about colonialism, the most likely to be true history of our neighbors and my people, was nothing short of heartbreaking. To see these "activists" erase and minimize it to make a point and even joke about it was so fucked up. I'm sick to death of these people profiting off an image they can just cast aside when it gets too real, but we have to live with the consequences of it. They can stop making anti-fact/anti-context propaganda at any time, I can't stop being who I am. Why do I have to live with the narrative they create for us? It's honestly so demoralizing that even our "allies" just don't get it.
Apologies for the rant and thank you for making this video, it was very well done.

The only place that was true was in the imaginations of the Spanish who certainly exaggerated how much control they had of the situation during the conquest. Personally I don't see any difference in the way they talk about our people today. They don't give a damn about us, and if they did they would perhaps talk to people who know more than them, who have lived through these things like the collapse of the USSR, or various events around the world that they love to reference to demonize the US. They could do that and make actually meaningful content in the process, but they won't.
