Rear doors were common in the day, yak-42, md-80 and I think 727's had it. Plus those engines were turbojets hence the noise.

@Mr.Fox23 None of the fallen or damaged Caravelles were due to inherent malfunctioning of the aircraft, much unlike the disgraceful max... accidents involving Caravelles were always linked to human error, technical fault or weather... I will never fly on a max, recertified after pooping itself for 20 months. I would happily fly on a Caravelle, were they to be still around.

The reason the engines are loud are because they took turbojets (typically installed on fighters) instead of turbofans.
At that time, turbojets were the most common.
So yes, you’re right to say that it’s a fighter jet engine.
