Yep the light novel order is the best way. Kizumonogatari was in production for a long time which explains why it was released so late, and hanamonogatari was also delayed, but it's actually even slotted in the middle of the second season in the disc release of S2.
@@electricant55 Which amuses me everytime somone decides their watch order by majority rule. I find it a little ironic that this kinda changes how you start Ougi Formula, considering how majority rule is talked about on that arc.
The only reason the broadcast order didn't follow the novels was due to production issues, like the movies taking forever to make. Now that we can, there's no reason to deviate from the author's intended order to experience the story for the first time.
Im so glad we are getting more Monogatari Series reactions recently. Its truly one of the very best series ever. Im new to the channel so i dont know your style yet but feel free to pause if you need to since this series is very information heavy (you dont need to read all the text flashes though). Also always light novel order. Kizu has to be watched after Bake. Edit: Also you can never think too deep about this series if something can be a metaphor or have multiple meanings it most likely has multiple meanings and probably more than you o anyone can think of on their first few watches. The author absolutely loves word play and ciphers. Edit 2: Bunny girl senpai basically took the premise of Monogatari and tried to do it again but less proficient. Also subtitles were great. Great reaction btw.
Really thankful someone that uploads almost everyday finally picked it up, some reactors watch it 1 ep per week and it's honestly gonna take so long to get to some of my favorite parts. I'll definitely be looking forward to this everyday now! You can choose to read the flashing text after the episodes coz some of them are straight up just the character's monologues, sometimes summaries of the events leading to the current scene, some are just context clues. Definitely something we don't skip. As for the Watch Order, definitely go for the Light Novel release one because there are episodes in which you'll have better context with if you've watched Kizumonogatari after Bakemonogatari S1, I originally watched it via Broadcast Order and I'm coming from that experience suggesting the Light Novel order for an easier viewing experience (both are fine whichever you choose in the end)
it feels pretty nice to have a consistent series like that for 2 years too though. When it's finished you suddenly just stop having that kind of weekly event.
huh the algorithm showed me the way to a new monogatari reactor 💪I hope you enjoy this masterpiece and please be careful with the reactions here on yt, monogatari is a very difficult one regarding copyright and often the way people edit for other shows does not work for this series. Edit: LN order is the way, don't bother with other orders in your first watch. Also use the mtbb subs if you can for the full experience (taking into account the limitations of the english language to translate everything as intended from japanese)
The algorithm has sounded the drum, telling the arrival of a new monogatari reactor. I have arrived to answer its call. May my comment sacrifice satisfy the algorithm.
definitely do the light novel order! the broadcast order mostly matches the novel order anyway, but there were some delays and production issues which led to some entries (Kizu and Hana) to be released after, even though they were intended to be released in the novel order initially. also, no you don't really need to read the flashing text. it's mostly just text from the novels which you can read if you want some extra info
the picture you showed on screen is the order i went with and stick too! also the flashing texts aren't always important they're usually for comedy or emphasis but if they are important they will be on the screen longer so dont worry
28:53 I'm really impressed that they had the extra text in the subtitles to explain the wordplay. There's A LOT of wordplay in this show, so while I've never watched with these specific subtitles, they seem trustworthy so far.
light novel order is the way. the only reason people still bring up other orders is because they are nostalgic to how they watched it for the first time as it aired. but those orders only happened due to mistakes and any merits from it are purely accidental, there is no reason to suggest it to someone on a first watch.
And yeah it's definitely similar to bunny girl senpai because the author kinda just ripped off the entire premise from monogatari. But the stories go in quite different directions later on I would say.
Lets gooo, im not sleeping today edit : Kizumonogatari movies are important before jumping into season 2, so im voting for the LN order You don't need to worry about the flashing text, most of them are not important. The flashing texts will be slightly slower on next seasons so you can read it more easily.
Yes. I finished Bakemonogatari and went to Nisemonogatari, but when I saw that in the LN Kizumonogatari (the story of the films) was released after Bakemonogatari, I finished Nisemonogatari and went to the films and then returned to the TV anime in normal release order. The films have a different visual feel as they are directed by the assistant to the main director of the TV anime, but the base text is still the same
And I always paused flash text. Curiosity hits harder. But, yes, it's more of a mythological contextualization or Araragi's thoughts about a certain character or situation.
If you're going to cut the OP from the yt video it would be nice to have access to it in some other format without paying, or at the very least some thoughts on it. OPs are a very important part of the series and most people really look forward to them. EDs a bit less so, but still would be nice to include as well. Oh, and like just about everyone else I'm going to back the novel order. Hanamonogatari in particular really needs to be where it was originally written in order for the second season as a whole to make sense.
Bunny girl senpai just a watered-down Monogatari About watch order, Kizumonogatari suppose to launch after Bake but got delayed too much that they adapt another season before it can finish, that's why majority who watch original will recommend LN order.
I saw you watching the final episodes of Sangatsu no Lion. Are you going to Bakemonogatari because it's from the same director as Sangatsu? With me it was the opposite. I haven't finished the Monogatari franchise yet, but it's already one of the best anime I've ever seen. And watch in release order
I actually had no idea it was the same director, I put it on a poll due to a recommendation and it ended up winning that poll. It's really cool that it's the same director though!
I appareicate you getting into this seires but it's not for everyone and I think it's a very hard series to react to because it's very dialog heavy. You don't need the flashes of text. They're there because it's based on a series of light novels. THe art animation and music are great and the story and characters are as well. Ganbatte!
Will advise the flashing text that appears in the series is stuff that can spoil arcs at point (episode 8 being a big spoiler for the text flash) would advise you don't read them out since they have spoiled the arcs in Bakemonogatari at the very least. The Previews should be just fine to watch as well since the dialogue is a riddle being told by two characters that don't appear in Bakemonogatari. Also Kizumonogatari is a must watch after Bakemonogatari, it released as late as it did due to production delays.
either watch order is fine in my opinion, but I don't recomend watching hanamonogatari mid second season, I feel like in the release order hanamonogatari feels much better + some other stuff why I always watch it after. I watch Koyomimonogatari always after season 1 of Owari, but light novel is fine for it. edit: (I watch broadcast order exept for kizu, I put kizu like in LN order)
if this is the only 2 variants - the LN order it is. staff knew what they were doing and kept in mind the original order by smoothing new experience, in some cases it became even better than the original...but explaining it would've been a spoiler, it would've taken too long, and there would've been people who don't agree.
This just isn't true. The only reason Hanamonogatari and Kizu were delayed is because of production issues. They weren't trying to smooth out any experience. I don't know where you even got that from. There's stuff in Hanamonogatari that is essential to understanding Koimonogatari, as well as stuff in Kizu that's essential to understanding Nisemonogatari. The exception here would be Off/Monster season, which is currently airing, and is very clearly and intentionally breaking the order.
OH MY GOD I didn't expect this. Good choice. I am personally behind release order with the only change that kizumonogatari is best to be watched after bakemonogatari in my opinion. But aside from Kizu(which is prequel compared to everything else) anime should be watched in order it was released. Some things might be easier to understand when watched in ln order but anime was created with that order and some things are intended to be mystery until explained in later seasons.
The issue with the watch order is that people will say LN order because of Kizumonogatari (as seen in the already posted comments) but not even think about Hanamonogatari, Hanamonogatari should be watched after the entire S2, not in the middle of it! Ideally you do neither of those orders but watch Kuzimonogatari after Bakemonogatari (like the LN) and Hanamonogatari after Second Season (Like the broadcast).
the issue there is Shaft's recap for the newest season and the most recent JP Blu-ray release of Second Season had Hanamonogatari at the point it would be in LN order.
@@hachikuji_mayoi the literal only reason people keep saying hana after koi is because they watched it like that when it aired and the ending of koi. react-brained people that want to go "huuuh??? woah WHAAT" instead of what thematically actually makes sense and is intended. watching to consume rather than to engage.
Just go broadcast order like everyone else watching for the first time. You'll get people saying "but some parts of the anime got delayed at the time" so you can watch it the correct way or whatever, but it really doesn't matter. Even the currently airing season of the anime doesn't follow the LN order.
bunny girl is just monogatari at home, so if you liked that youre gonna love this
