As a current E-coupe owner, I desperately hate this. The exterior is great, don't get me wrong. However, I have spent plenty of time in the 206 C-class (as loaners) and am frankly disgusted with the cheapness and low-quality of the interior. I would never consider this as a replacement for the E-coupe. I will be staying with last gen cars as there is nothing from this gen that I find remotely interesting. Not to mention that this thing has B-pillars - which no mercedes coupe should have. Disgrace. IDC if it gets the inline 6 . . . so does the C238 model - and that also has buttons. GTFO. Instead of taking the size of the E-coupe and making it feel like a C-coupe inside, they should have taken the quality of the E-coupe and put it in a sportier package. I get that it will drive better than both prior gen cars. This is unacceptable quality. I get that it now has access to features traditionally reserved for the E such as massage seats. They simply need to do better in terms of the cheap plastic (center console, transmission tunnel, doors, dashboard décor)
I agree. I have a 2021 E class cabriolet. There is no way this should be a CLE. The new E class interior is gorgeous, but this is a C class interior and I absolutely hate it. I was hanging on for the new CLE but with that interior, there’s no way I’m going for it. Looks like I’ve to shell out additional money and order a SL 43 instead as my Mercedes dealership loan me one for four days, and I loved it

Regardless of the improved technology in the new E and SL, I don't like the designs as much as our cars. It's a step forward in some areas and 2 steps back in others. I will probably replace mine with a 53 version of the E or a GT53 - just ride out this period of piano black plastic and capacitive touch. These new interiors lack sculpture to me.
I can feel your pain. I have been driving E coupes for at least 9 years, and the salad they did with this CLE was a horrible way to kill the E coupe. NOTHING LIKE the current interior of the E450.
@@likeasambud9817 In the US, the two dots didn't appear until the 2021 model year. I have the 2020 model, and it has the double lines, which look much better than the newer "dot" version.
I think the CLE looks great, & has fantastic tech,but it really does look like more of a C class rather than E class coupé. This is most obvious to people who know/own a Mercedes Benz 2 Coupé (above the C) because of the presence of B pillars. As many have said that was a feature on the cheaper C coupé, not the more exspensive E Coupé. It even has the C Coupé's wedge shaped rear window. But, if this is MB's go at hitting at the heart of the luxury coupe market then this will defintely provide that. It's about the same size as the BMW 4/Audi A5. However, it would be great to see them bring back a traditional high end coupé, because this will not tempt current owners of the old E class coupé into dealers any time soon.
This 2-door coupe is a disaster, the rear windows do not open - that is it. Nothing like the pillarless S-class coupe (and CL), or even the like E class coupe (or C class coupe), which are toys compared to the now discontinued S-class coupe. I honestly don't know why would anyone buy this (maybe status, like all those people buying A, CLA, current CLS - these cars just carry the MB logo, nothing more) - it is a downgrade in every respect as compared to its 2-door coupe predecessors. I have waited for over a year and a half to see how this coupe will turn out - its a disappointment and I will not buy it. @sulaiman4031 - AMG GT 2-door coupe looks like a new-version Dodge Viper, there is nothing unique about it and it targets a completely different group of people. The CLE was supposed to be a good mid-priced grand tourer, similar to what the CLK-class once was, but they failed. I don't even want to get started on the lack of hard top for the latest SL.

I also would like to add to point made about the AMG GT because it is not in the same lineage in MB history as the C,CLK,E,SEC, or S class coupés. It's a genuine sports car like a 911 not a grand tourer despite what the name is supposed to evoke in the minds of drivers. It is directly related to the previous & well loved SLS AMG and has connections to the final Dodge Viper as well.

@@LouB-cq2qo fair points however I would only imagine that MB's most compelling reasoning for creating the AMG GT Coupe, was to continue to provide that sporty halo car experience but also take into account safety, efficency, and enhanced desire for reliability & use of the car. While incredible, vehicles such as SLS and SLR could not be built today in their exact same mold 10-20 years ago. That is one of the downsides to progress that we must either accept or reject with our wallets.
It‘s the best Coupé of all time, really! It fits perfectly. And this so beautiful Interior, with this very beautiful ambient lightning ever for me, 100% the best.

I have a 2022 E53 (actual 2 door coupe) and can't imagine buying this model as a replacement. It looks almost identical to my 2018 C 300 coupe. They need to make a new higher model 2 door coupe (other than the SL).

When they discontinued the s class coupe I was worried! Between this, the SL and the new amg gt63 I’m no longer worried. there is one concern though… no more maybach coupe?
For the EU, it’s mainly the 4 cylinder diesels and plug in hybrids and a petrol engine available, the CLE200,CLE200d,CLE220d,CLE300e and CLE400e, CLE300 and CLE450 is not gonna be available in the EU due to emission regulations,the last two variants would only be available in the US, but 6 cylinder variants for the EU would be the CLE53 AMG and CLE63S E performance
That cheap looking thing is no replacement for the E class coupe. I guess I will be driving my 2020 E Class Coupe for a while longer, which is not a bad thing at all.
Save your money for the next model, when they have listened to their customers and removed the B pillar and made this thing look better than an existing E Coupe. Then and only then is it worth all that money. I’m a fan of MB but this is no E coupe replacement.
There is nothing of the new E-class in this car - just a two-door C-class. To call it ”CLE” is just a cheap try to upmarketing the product. Call it for what it is: a CLK.

I don’t get it. The C class and the E class have their coupe versions. Then there’s the CL class, which offers four-door coupes, like the CLA (compact coupe) and the CLS (grand coupe). By that logic, the CLE should’ve been a four-door executive coupe, and the CLC, if there’s ever one, a mid-sized four-door coupe. So what is this thing? Isn't this just a facelift E class coupe?
I will not use CL class for referring to CLA, CLB or CLC models, as the CL were the previous to of the line two doors, replaced by the S-Class Coupe moniker for the 2015 coupe.

Pre facelift 2018 e coupes are even nicer than facelift because of the double led lines in the headlamps as appose to the dots in the face lift
