    Honestly the AL east race is very VERY close right now, and the Yankees just let the ball drop in the most important stretch of the race. Jays are looking ok right now hope we can keep this up but the Rays and Orioles are also looking excellent so who knows! At least we’ll get loads of tension!

    i don't think people realize just how much the Jays have been through the past 2 and a half seasons , replacing Montoyo was the right move , Schnieder seems to have them pointed in the right direction now but as they say the real season begins in september

    Just think, if the Yankees manage to reproduce their record over the last 36 games, (12-24) then they'll be 85-71 with six games remaining. In retrospect, it's pretty funny that people were saying they might win 116 games this year after their red hot start. Now it appears that just attaining 90 wins and winning the AL East might be a stretch.

      I agree. I don’t even see them making the playoffs if their play doesn’t improve substantially. Boston might not be alone this year at the bottom of the AL East.

      Agreed. It was a stretch to think that this team would emulate the 1998 Yankees. That was a special team with great leadership, and a lineup full of men who knew how to perform in the clutch. As the cover of Sports Illustrated stated so appropriately. "Speed, Power & Heat". The Yankees have it all....This team? not a chance.

      Losing Stanton is bigger though. He's the player a lot of pitchers fear next to Judge. Stanton and Judge were a good duo and without that the energy completely shifted.

      @@xxxYYZxxx when you are 200 hits ahead and one year younger than your Hall of Fame Dad when he got his 300th hit, it's pretty big news. He is 23 with 500 hits. Most current players were not even on an MLB roster at that tender age. Most MLB players do not get 500 hits in their career before they fizzle out

    The Yankees are like the Dallas Cowboys of baseball. They really haven't been decent since the late 90s. Every year is a struggle and yet the fans think they can't lose

      They been the playoffs almost every year for the last 20 years. And been to 4 World Series since the 90s ended. Don’t compare them to the cowboys who haven’t won anything since 1995.

      The Yankees 1996-2000 run was pretty similar to what the 1992-1995 Cowboys did, the only difference is the Yankees have won a stand alone championship (2009) while the Cowboys still haven't even reached another Super Bowl. Pretty good comp tho. Both are overhyped every year and virtually never live up to expectations.

    The NYY 10 game lead seemed unbreakable. Then the Jays had it to 9 but slipped back. NOW the Jays have it to 8 games AND the Rays are 9 back. One game at a time boys. It seems since the trade deadline and AS break we have a NEW NYY team that has not gelled into a constant winner.

    Amazing how it went from being a foregone conclusion that the Yankees would win the World Series to this epic collapse. Back a couple months ago I posted that 3 great months (April-June) does NOT win you a World Series, and even if you kept that pace up the entire regular season it means virtually nothing come October. Check recent history, rarely does the best team during the regular season win the World Series any more. Postseason baseball is utterly unpredictable, last season being just one example.

      Yep! It’s all about who’s hot in October. 2001 Mariners went 116-46 tying the best regular season record in MLB history. They didn’t make it to the World Series

    Yankees can't beat good teams. This is the team that they are. They played way over their heads with a weak schedule the first couple months, it wasn't sustainable. This roster is worse than the 21 Yankees who miraculously won over 90 games. Another failed year from what used to be a great, winning franchise decades ago. First round exit in October is going to be sweet to watch.

    I feel like the two Yanks fans that got out of Cabrera's way deserve a tip of the cap. It's harder to do then you think. It's not that they want the ball , it's just that you're putting yourself in danger by not catching the ball. The ball can bounce in any direction.     The biggest mistake was not getting Castle the best pitcher at the trade market and the biggest mistake was letting go Jordan and now he is doing great for St. louis , now the team is in a mess, time to get rid of Cashmen and Boone.

    Every yankee game I watch, they seem to get worse each game. They continue to get behind early in every game as well. I can't remember the last game that they had an early lead. They have just lost the magic of the first half. They may not finish 2nd or third in the AL east at this rate.
