Not necessarily downtown. The nightlife/shopping is really in the hotel zone. Xplor is actually closer to Playa dell Carmen. I didn’t get to check it out while I was there.
Most of the vendors at Market 28 are legit. Most of them have been at the same location for years. It really depends of the day of the week and whether or not they are busy.

I wasn’t aware of Mercado 23. Besides, my Airbnb was right next to Mercado 28 so it was easy for me to put it in a video.
Any good shopping mall / night life or restaurants ? Also u check out Xplor?
