Your video keeps stating that we serve(ed) to defend the "democracy". Our country is a Republic. If you say the Pledge of Allegiance each day, you will know this fact. We elect a Congress through a democracy voting, but the country is a Republic. Nice video though. I wish you would dub it with a voice over to read the quotes.
This is an inconsequential distinction. The republic is merely the mechanism for exercising the democratic principles. It simply means we are a functionally representative democracy. Yes. We do function as a republic, but only because we do so to maintain democracy ... which, I admit, is more of an aspiration than a realization. I understand your point, but I do not think it is the whole story.
We are a Democratic Republic. Or If you want the most technical term, our country is a constitutionally limited representative democratic republic. Our form of government, the constitution limits the power of government. We elect representatives, so it's not a pure democracy
