YSRCP hits back: ‘We have been asking the same thing ever since the TDP government made these baseless allegations - where and when was adulterated ghee used?’
The TDP and the YSR Congress Party chose to read the Supreme Court’s remarks on the Tirupati laddu row differently, with each doubling down on their stand.
Hearing a clutch of petitions, the bench asked why Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu went public with the matter without waiting for the report of the investigation ordered by his government. Naidu has alleged that during the YSRCP regime, the ghee in Tirupati laddus contained animal fat, and also produced a purported lab report to back his claim.
“You get the report in July. September 18, you go public. You say you ordered an investigation. It is very clear from the report that this is not the ghee which had been used. Unless you are sure, how did you go to the public with that?” asked Justice K V Viswanathan.
