Its curious that Dunmer push Skooma so hard onto the people of Cyrodiil and Skyrim. Skooma; made by Khajiit, who the Dunmer treat like farm tools, sold illegally to Imperials and Nords; people they hate with a burning passion. One would think this was some kind of campaign to weaken their long time enemies, while profiting from it.
Dunmer actually invented Skooma. Originally Khajiit just grew moon sugar to use it as seasoning due to the tendency for loving sweets, which in fairness Moon Sugar is essentially a drug to non-khajiit races, but it was the Dunmer who utilized it in the creation of Skooma.

I come back to Oblivion every few years and fall in love with it all over again. I'm so glad this time it coincided with a great youtube channel posting great in depth videos about just the most random topics in Cyrodiil. Thanks and I hope you don't stop making these for awhile.
The voice actors changing mid-sentence is so jarring, but I guess it wouldn't be oblivion without it. Very bold of Bethesda to only hire 5 different voice actors for the entire game, but It kinda paid off weirdly.

Loving the new Theives Guild playlist that you're developing rn, the previous videos have been great, but this one is clearly the best video you've made for this playlist. So well done. Keep it up!
This was the weirdest quest for me in the Theives Guild. Lex is willing to believe a complete stranger than his secret informant. Yeah sure Lex likes us after some jokes or bribing him but I can't believe such a vigilant chaser of Gray Fox would let go of his informant just like that.
He already mentioned why he got rid of his informant as he arrested her, that due to her being set up by the gray fox, she's now useless as an informant as the theives guild knows about her being an informant, so arresting her under the pretense of having stolen the bust is a good method of getting rid of her and making sure she can't get in the way. You can hear him explain this at 14:17.
@@zackbauer4562 yeah I understood that part but my problem is how in contrast the player got out of it scot-free. She told him we were hired to do the theft, which is a charge she is being put under. Also she tells him we are with the thieves guild. At least we should have been under some kind of interrogation. It's easy for anyone to assume that we, the thieves guild member, are trying to frame a imperial guard informant so we can get rid of her. So what we are saying directly conflicts with her claims, yet Lex decideds to go with arresting his informant instead of us, the thieves guild member. He could have gotten rid of her in some other way.
Well, the way imperial law works is that you are "guilty until proven innocent" and that afaik, there are no juries or trials. Lex had no one to convict or blame prior to that moment. Lex also knows the guild knows she's a rat, so sue is useless to all parties involved now.
@@KoongYe On the other hand, we tell Lex that she stole the statue, so it's one thieves guild member against another. And she has the statue in her house. He is probably aware that we are of the guild, or at least have connection to them, but he can't prove anything. So taking in a useless informant who has the stolen goods in their possession is more than enough for that. Even as informant she is still a member of the guild, so it's one thief less on the roads.
I wish Bethesda delved more deeply into each and every quest of Oblivion. Thank you for this constructive and thorough background. :) I hope you continue to create more videos. These keep getting better & better, thank you so much! ¬

I know you tend towards older games, but would you consider doing one of the FromSoft games? The lore is a lot less defined than your usual, but I think your form of narration would make for an absolutely phenomenal playthrough of them
It's a shame that the Mythic Dawn Sleeper Agents don't play a more critical role in the gameplay. Instead of attacking the player and that's it, why not make it a requirement to take down the agents to close Oblivion gates permanently?
That's smart, but the problem is that's really tedious; many don't even close every single gate because there's like, 60 of them. Hunting down 60 Mythic Dawn agents would be awful. For a single gate, that would be an awesome quest though!

I will be honest that both Indarys and his son struck me as well meaning fools. Obviously an addiction problem doesn't help. Knowing Helseth's character and also the mentions by the DB that they are blackmailing Indarys painted him to me as a bit of a small dog with a big bark. Which makes him an obvious choice for a pawn by pretty much everyone. I also really do not put it past the human nobility to send someone to murder his wife- nor would I put a past any of the factions he is involved with whether by choice or by force. I never really considered this option. It's quite a fascinating possibility and your case is well made!
That Hironymous Lex indeed has an over bloated ego and such a good mind to betray his best ally is ridiculous. The conundrum of safely planting the bust on that snake of a woman without incriminating yourself is resolved by a simple tug-of-war, whereby Hironymous Lex overlooks the fact that you have implicated yourself, and shrugs happily
Man, what a rabbit hole lol, ive played Oblivion many times, still play it to this day on occasion. I have a playthrough i started a couple years ago and ill come back to it for a few hours every couple months. If we get a remake i will lose my shit, especially after waiting 8 years for Starfield and it not being the BGS experience i was hoping for, ar least not the vanilla version.
Even after all these years, you better than anyone else I've seen show just how much depth we have lost to Bethesda's storytelling ability. Skyrim has some good quests, but the depth and choice just isn't in the same league. It's made things more "approachable" and I suppose it's success is certainly an argument in it's favor in a business sense, but in a gaming sense, Oblivion feels like a much more living world that you find a way to succeed and survive in. With Skyrim, it quickly feels like you control the world. It's not for me to say one is inherently better than the other, just that I wish it didn't have to be one or the other. Starfield does not give me great hope for a better balanced approach unfortunately.
You know that actually points out a very huge plot hole. This guy who has dedicated is entire life to finding this very thing who will follow any lead he possibly can will not follow this lead unless he trusts you. Okay well you know what fair enough I could probably just walk up tell him and then leave oh I have to go with him anyway... Okay so why does he have to like me for him to check it out? Because if I'm going anyway and you know he'll arrest me if I'm lying then he doesn't have to like me to look at it.
Fun video and story i myself never really let te Son die the guy is a fool but unlike his father dose not seem to an asshole so as he get older i feel he coiuld make good leader
Different elf lineages live for different lengths of time. Dark elves go for about 400 years, I think. High elves can go for as much as 1000. Not sure what the other lineages go for.
Orcs are a race of elves, and they live closer to human lifespans, tho some HAVE reached 200, but then again, most human mages in the Elder Scrolls universe can achieve this too.
I think that this particular town could've had a more interesting game-play, and I think mods could fix that, provided AIs offered the necessary voices. I've already said this in Dash's Discord, but allow me to elaborate here. I think that it should've been an option to provide more depth to Farwil, but in order to get it, you need to have selected certain options in previous quests before it's opened to you. In addition to taking Garrus Darelliun's side in the quest Corruption and Conscience (keeping the notes Ulric made to give to Farwil), the player would have to have both closed the Oblivion gate in front of Cheydinhal (with Farwil alive) and kill both of the Mythic Dawn agents, confiscating their Mythic Dawn Commentaries as proof of their affiliation. Hell, why not do all this with Farwil as a follower, so he can see this for himself? Once that's done, have some meaningful dialogue with Farwil, pointing out that the reason why all this happened is because of the neglect of his father, and that something needs to change. Farwil, for the first time, takes his position seriously to the point that he enters Riverview during one of their parties to confront his father, have Farwil kill his father, and then take down the Orcs who now know their Skooma line has been compromised. Help keep Farwil alive, and complete the quest. After that, visit Farwil one more time, this time as Count, who has Garrus with him to guide him through things he isn't sure about. Join Farwil at the chapel, and you can watch him have one more conversation with his mother, which puts her soul to rest, the player receiving a reward as thanks and more fame because of it. If there was any way to flesh out Farwil, this is how I would do it.
I'm Champion of Cyrodiil, Arch-Mage of the Mages Guild, head of the Fighters Guild, Listener for the Dark Brotherhood, the Gray Fox, the Arena Grand Champion, the Holy Crusader, and Sheogorath.

@@gavinl1565 Try it in-game. I don't know if Bethesda got them backwards or UESP, but it's bust-activated.
Any intention in using Steve Bluescemi?
I wonder if king helseth ever had an heir to the throne
27:53 why did you dislike your own video? 😂
Gotta love oblvions voices
You know that actually points out a very huge plot hole. This guy who has dedicated is entire life to finding this very thing who will follow any lead he possibly can will not follow this lead unless he trusts you. Okay well you know what fair enough I could probably just walk up tell him and then leave oh I have to go with him anyway... Okay so why does he have to like me for him to check it out? Because if I'm going anyway and you know he'll arrest me if I'm lying then he doesn't have to like me to look at it.
Oblivion is the best Game !!
Town is over all these maps
Lol I love the idiot son, huzzah! Thanks for the best content on RUclips
We all have a soft spot for Farwil... especially leaving his crumpled corpse in Oblivion. Huzzah!
0:50 calling an Imperial a dog 🐶 in his own area is kind of going too far 😂
I guess it would work in context as the waterfront is more impoverished and going to have more none imperial immigrants.
So who killed her?
Surprised you didn’t even acknowledge that Myvryna and Tanasa share a surname. Unless it was mentioned in another of your videos.
The wiki states its seemingly coincidence so, I thought it wasn't worth it. Perhaps sn opportunity missed!
@@DarkLOREDash If it really was just meant as a coincidence, it was 100% a major missed opportunity. Great content as always!
Yes!
BY THE GODS!! 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fun video and story
i myself never really let te Son die
the guy is a fool but unlike his father dose not seem to an asshole so as he get older i feel he coiuld make good leader
🙌🏼
Wait the count of Cheydnihal os a dunmer. Why did his wife Wray young while he aged? Dunmer live for like 100s or thousands of years right?

27:39 why there is dislike on the video
Holy shit.
I thought this Count was just an ass... now I like the Grey Fox even more now.
Janus Hassildor is the best count
