"I'm pretty sure the water in the Water Temple isn't lake-water. I'm pretty sure it's the tears of everyone who let this temple's difficulty get to them." - Random RUclipsr
Even in the base game, the jump from Theory of Everything to Clubstep is way more than some of the stuff on this list (at the time top two hardest base game levels).
I’ll give a list of the hardest soulsborne levels: Ringed City Blighttown 5-2 from Demon’s Souls 1-3 from Demon’s Souls 3-2 from Demon’s Souls Lost Izalith Tomb of the Giants Duke’s Archives New Londo Ruins Hunter’s Nightmare Fishing Hamlet Grand Archives Upper Cathedral Ward Old Yharnam The Gutter Forbidden Woods Fountainhead Palace Hirata Estate (og and Owl) Senpou Temple Gun Fort My list of the hardest souls areas. This is my opinion, so if you found some of these areas easier then that’s your opinion
Fun tip for Super Mario World's Tubular: you can use a Blue Yoshi and a Cape to get through without using any of the P-Baloons! It's my own preferred method.
As someone who has beaten Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for NES, let me tell you that if you think the Dam Level is hard, then you want no part of the Technodrome. I honestly believe the Technodrome never makes these lists simply because not enough people have actually reached it.
Not to mention the one in three chance that you'll encounter the Technodrome at the end of the cave. There's no sign to tell you that you need to go back and try one of the other two caves, it's a dead end.
None of these are the most difficult level of all time, these were chosen because they are easily recognizable.
Hardest levels would probably be lmited to arcade cabinets and maybe a few NES titles (I always thought ikari warriors was tough but i dunno about hardest ever). Clifs of Dover Rocksmith master setting, super mario air (any level really), and wizardry 4 (first room or death cube) could make the list, depending on how you define a game and how you define hard.
🤣🤣🤣 This is so true! I actually never even passed a demon level, but I still know the pain of spending two hours and hundreds attempts on just one level in geometry dash
Two points: 1. the Water temple in OoT is my all time favorite Zelda dungeon because I honestly love getting lost and stuck in complex levels. Conquering them is very satisfying. 2. The Water Dam level in TMNT never was a problem with me. The later levels were hundreds times more difficult.
They always put the same levels in these videos. I was expecting the Water Level and Turbo Tunnel to be in this list although I don't think they belong in this list at all. Very overrated levels in terms of difficulty. Like you said, the later levels in TMNT are more difficult. The same can be said about the later levels in Battletoads.
I would have included Bayonetta’s “Angel Slayer” in this list. You have over 50 fights, ranging every difficulty, with no items or certain accessories. It ends with a fight against three Jeannes, and then against Bayonetta herself. All for a secret character: Zero.
I was watching the video thinking "turbo tunnel must be #1"... and I wasn't disapointed. It is probably not the hardest lvl in battletoads, but it is the level that people got stuck and the most memorable one. Battletoads was a very popular game on the nes, and I cant imagine a level that made ppl not progress in one game as turbo tunnel did.

Water Temple was NEVER hard for me, even as a kid. You just have to memorize which water levels, know your routes, and most importantly, concentrate. When you figure them out, you'll complete it in no time. Now, the part that actually IS hard is of course, fighting Dark Link.
This list: Ahh, just look back at how many countless hours we spent on turbo tunnel... Geometry Dash Players: You have no idea the pain we feel. *Screams in agony after more than 100k attempts*
I have two memories of Turbo Tunnels: One when I was a kid and didn't own a controller for Sega, but I figured out (I have absolutely no idea how) the little pins where you plug the controller can actually work as controller itself. Sometimes it electrifies you a little bit and is very wonky to control, but it works. That was my first Turbo Tunnel completion ever. The second one where I played with my friend, who couldn't do it at all, so I had to do it with two controllers at the same time. You can trust me, both of these were hundred percent true. People with original Segas can prove that the first method is working, not that anyone would ever try it because it doesn't make any sense. Turbo Tunnel wasn't hard, just consecutive UP and DOWN and some jumps. Great vid, mojo.

I feel like the water temple from OOT really isn’t as hard as people say it is. The city in the sky from Twilight Princess was much harder in my opinion.
I definitely agree and think the water temple’s difficulty is severely overrated. Annoying yes, hard not really. But I don’t think city in the sky is super difficult either. Sometimes it is a bit tedious waiting for the peahats to fly around, but not too crazy hard. (Definitely doesn’t make it bad tho, TP is my fav in the series)
Water Temple isn't hard it just doesn't communicate what you should be doing very well. Instead of raising or lowering the water level randomly, you should wait and explore every nook and cranny before you do so. Combine that with the suggestion that you should explore everywhere and open every treasure chest that you can before you open your first locked door and you make the dungeon super trivial. Seriously, it's surprising how easy it is to get lost in that dungeon if you just randomly open doors and raise/lower the water level whenever. You make things harder for yourself simply because it's easy to forget that you have to explore every floor twice (Once on dry land, and once under water.
I have very clear memories or a secret level in Donkey Kong 2 on SNES that gave me nightmare and took forever to complete. Something with those spiky walls everywhere. I'm sure someone else remembers that. Great music, absolute nightmare level lol.
Turbo Tunnel, Turtles Dam, Water Temple and Ninja Gadien Final stage don't hold a candle to Welcome to the Machine. As someone who is very good at all of these games, Welcome to the Machine is terrifying every time.
I can vouch for you there, 3 BEWARE THE PISSED OFF MAFIA, VC Hilary is a damn cheater always pushing you around, Zero.....STOP LIVING WITH YOUR MOM NERD GROW UP AND GET A HOBBY
For me dark souls 3 was the easiest. It was the first dark souls game i ever played and i only died 9 times before beating it. Then i went to dark souls 2 and had a bit more trouble and died around 50 times before beating the game. I thought i would be pretty good at dark souls 1 because i beat 2 and 3, but to me dark souls 1 is the hardest dark souls game, ive been stuck at ornstien and smough and i cant beat them and i have 117 deaths to them alone.
I found Dark Souls 3 to be the worst of the trilogy, specially that overrated Ringed City dlc, mainly because of those stages where a random overpowered enemy snipes you from afar or gets you swarmed with enemies you can't attack, which, is a fake illusion of "difficulty". Sure, you can eventually get rid of those snipers, but it doesn't change the fact that it's terrible level design.
When I bought driver, I didn’t have a memory card for some reason so I had to do the tutorial every time I wanted to play it for like a week until we went to go buy one.
Yeah probably. I also wrote a comment about GD but at the end of the day it doesn't really matter if I dislike or leave a comment. But yeah I agree it takes players literally hundreds of thousands attempts to beat levels like Tartarus or The Golden
Escaping blighttown has always been so annoying once you get in the place there's little chance your getting out anytime soon unless you've memorised the place
Got C-3 on my first try. If you remember Mario's position in the screen and play it patient by jumping from one spring to another (without skipping them), it's easy.
@@hunterryc around that time when the game was somewhat new I was like 7 or 8 so my patience was at a different bar I’ll say played a factor but yes the pinball mechanics was very frustrating but aside from that was the platforming in that game is the biggest enemy, I died to falling, ledges and most map traps before I died to an enemy, and the Casino level is where the platform is hardest
I remember I played Driver on PC and completed the tutorial without much trouble but got stuck just a few missions later (it was some level where you had to trash a few restaurants with your car in a strict time limit, if I'm not mistaken) and never progressed further. I generally suck at video games and a lot of fairly easy games/levels give me trouble.
Early games were just really short (like 45 minutes to maybe 4 hours max), so they made them harder to pad playtime. In an age of gaming where we have games that are 50-100 hours long, it's preferable not to die every 5 minutes. That would be excruciating.
I used to hate the Water Temple, but once I found that hidden room inside the middle building, it's been a breeze ever since. Also, use the Hammer and Dins Fire to fight Dark Link - he can't copy those.
9:46 "who knew fingers could move this fast?" Lets see... guitar players, violin players, any stringed instrument or woodwind players. Just to name a few
I've played a little bit of "Guitar Hero" at Best Buy when I was little. Man, this game was hard. I liked the girl's guitar. It's cool! 10:05 I've also played "Super Mario Bros." at home. I didn't know there were lost levels in it. That's interesting. This game came out the same year I was born. 6:03
You should have added the Jungle from Terraria (not sure if it counts as a level). The insane amount of traps and enemies that can poison you are hard enough. But when you combine this with Lizhard Temple/Golem, as well as the Plantera boss fights, you get a recipe for numerous rage quits!
Don’t get me wrong, I love that game and series to death... but Give me God of War is artificial difficulty. I.e raise enemy health and lower player health. Which is exactly why GoW mode is artificial
Yep you're right. I honestly thought God of War 2's Titan mode was hard but fair. It limits your orbs, disables the tutorial prombts, and disables the switch to easy option on the Game Over screen. It knows you're going to die alot.
Honestly the water temple wasn't really that hard. once I knew how to beat Shadow Link using dins fire or the megaton hammer it really wasn't that tough. The only annoying part was putting the iron boots on and off to sink or swim in the N64 version. Everytime I changed the water level, I went to every place I reached before even opening a single door. As a result, I never felt like I was doing pointless backtracking. Still, it was nice that in the 3DS remake, you can switch the boots with the touch of a single button as well as focusing our attention on the basement in the central tower
@@Manganization well in the master quest version on the 3DS, while most of the other dungeons are made harder, the water temple is made much easier: Most of the branching hallways are sealed off leading to a more straightforward path, there's only one Small Key you had to find, the Longshot is obtained earlier, all you needed is to get pass Dark Link to reach the Boss Key, and finally once you get the Boss Key, you can head straight to the boss or unlock all the extra rooms for Golden Skulltulas hunting
Eggmanland in Sonic Unleashed Xbox 360 I’m surprised isn’t an honorable mention. Especially the hot dog mission where you have to clear it without dying once or it’s back to the beginning with you
I realized that the people who say that haven't actually played the game. Spend 2 minutes to figure out how to actually do the challenges correctly and don't full speed slam into the wall. It genuinely is not that hard. Enough said.
How is this not number 1? I watched the whole vid and was just expecting this would be number 1. Or - Wrong Side of the Tracks! - Follow the Train CJ........ lol.
I knew when i clicked on this video that turbo tunnels was going to be number 1. that shit is soooooo hard. whats worse, is after you spend countless hours trying to get through it, and you finally do!! you make it to the ice level with 1 life left lol

Omg “My Dark Disquiet” by Poets of the Fall is in that Control clip 🥺
They deserve more love but I’m happy they’re in that game and Alan Wake!
I have very clear memories or a secret level in Donkey Kong 2 on SNES that gave me nightmare and took forever to complete. Something with those spiky walls everywhere. I'm sure someone else remembers that. Great music, absolute nightmare level lol.
animal antics, yes where timing is crucial but for squawks it's all about proper wind control and adaptability, very tough yes and stressful
I'm amazed there's no mention of Vice city helicopter mission. That made me nearly quit that game😂😂
That's because it was easy.
I love water temple. Its one of my favourite dungeons of all. Time
Almost threw my Vita through the window playing Hotline Miami. What a great game
Lmao I love this comment
Tartarus, The Golden, Zodiac, Kenos, Crimson Planet, THE ENTIRE GEOMETRY DASH COMMUNITY: Are we a joke to you
It’s a watchmojo video what do you expect
Turbo Tunnel, Turtles Dam, Water Temple and Ninja Gadien Final stage don't hold a candle to Welcome to the Machine. As someone who is very good at all of these games, Welcome to the Machine is terrifying every time.
I love how mario holds some of the hardest levels ever
Where is "The Perfect Run" of Super Mario Galaxy 2. It's clearely the most hardest Mario level in all Mario games ever
The Driver from GTA VC?
Any of Zero’s missions from SA?
Expresso-2-go from 3?
Do y’all just not care about GTA games not named Grand Theft Auto V?
Gta is not difficult in any way...
I can vouch for you there, 3 BEWARE THE PISSED OFF MAFIA, VC Hilary is a damn cheater always pushing you around, Zero.....STOP LIVING WITH YOUR MOM NERD GROW UP AND GET A HOBBY
Oh your gawd! Driver from GTA VC would piss me off so fucken much. That one should have been here.
Thanks for the spoken honorable mentions. Also, what about the Mafia: The racing level?
12:31 im glad i got mentioned 😊🤣
Poseidon temple: god of war... love the whole series but this “level” is just excruciating.
Dark souls 3 is the only game that has EVER made me cry out of anger
For me dark souls 3 was the easiest. It was the first dark souls game i ever played and i only died 9 times before beating it. Then i went to dark souls 2 and had a bit more trouble and died around 50 times before beating the game. I thought i would be pretty good at dark souls 1 because i beat 2 and 3, but to me dark souls 1 is the hardest dark souls game, ive been stuck at ornstien and smough and i cant beat them and i have 117 deaths to them alone.
That was Bloodborne and the twin-sharkmen in the fishing hamlet for me
I found Dark Souls 3 to be the worst of the trilogy, specially that overrated Ringed City dlc, mainly because of those stages where a random overpowered enemy snipes you from afar or gets you swarmed with enemies you can't attack, which, is a fake illusion of "difficulty".
Sure, you can eventually get rid of those snipers, but it doesn't change the fact that it's terrible level design.
@@strangething7379 i wasnt able to get past those 2 werewolves near cleric beast lmao.
me seeing basically every 3D Mario final level EXCEPT for The Perfect Run...
Heart of the Reich on Veteran should have made it in. Those grenades were ridiculous.
I’ve beaten the turbo tunnel a few times but honestly the last part of the turbo tunnel is easily the hardest part of any game ive played.
When I bought driver, I didn’t have a memory card for some reason so I had to do the tutorial every time I wanted to play it for like a week until we went to go buy one.
Damn, this made me depressed.
Same.
Lemme guess that all of the dislikes are coming from geometry dash players, like me
Yeah probably. I also wrote a comment about GD but at the end of the day it doesn't really matter if I dislike or leave a comment. But yeah I agree it takes players literally hundreds of thousands attempts to beat levels like Tartarus or The Golden
I thought you’d mention The Perfect Run!
Escaping blighttown has always been so annoying once you get in the place there's little chance your getting out anytime soon unless you've memorised the place
I had no idea that Poets of the Fall had music in Control! Now I wanna play that game! They were at ProgPower USA last year, too!
Some of these levels you have to be ultra instinct to get past them🤣
The hardest level for me is The Doom from Shadow the Hedgehog.
How is Slippery Climb on here, but not Stormy Ascent?
Yeah like Slippery Climb wasn't that hard for a good crash player, but Stormy Ascent...wow. took me almost 30 lives
@@mchoen186 stormy ascent made my eye twitched for a full week after beating it.
Wdym it's on there? Stormy Ascent is Slippery climb.
Snake Spy. Stormy Ascent is the harder version, they’re different stages.
@@VGMBreaking you dumb? They are 2 different levels
Got C-3 on my first try. If you remember Mario's position in the screen and play it patient by jumping from one spring to another (without skipping them), it's easy.
Damn that clip of Control looked sweet. I might have to pick it up.
If he knew how hard geometry dash is, this video would just be the geometry dash top 20 hardest levels
The OOT water temple definitely made me rage as a kid. There was this 1 stupid key I could never find!
The Casino level of Sonic Heroes gave me my first rage quit
Out of curiosity, what made it hard to complete? Was it the pinball mechanics?
Dude, have these guys never played Contra! Even with cheat codes for extra lives i still never beat it.
This list just goes to show you how watered down the difficulty of games has gotten over the years for casuals
9:46 "who knew fingers could move this fast?"
Lets see... guitar players, violin players, any stringed instrument or woodwind players. Just to name a few
Freedom08, that one extreme demon
God of war "give me god of war" mode could have its own entire video
Don’t get me wrong, I love that game and series to death... but Give me God of War is artificial difficulty. I.e raise enemy health and lower player health. Which is exactly why GoW mode is artificial
Dre Jackson good point never thought of it that way
Yep you're right. I honestly thought God of War 2's Titan mode was hard but fair. It limits your orbs, disables the tutorial prombts, and disables the switch to easy option on the Game Over screen. It knows you're going to die alot.
But, that is a difficulty mode not a level or area
Pls do TOP 20 MOST SATISFYING LEVELS
Honestly the water temple wasn't really that hard. once I knew how to beat Shadow Link using dins fire or the megaton hammer it really wasn't that tough. The only annoying part was putting the iron boots on and off to sink or swim in the N64 version.
Everytime I changed the water level, I went to every place I reached before even opening a single door. As a result, I never felt like I was doing pointless backtracking.
Still, it was nice that in the 3DS remake, you can switch the boots with the touch of a single button as well as focusing our attention on the basement in the central tower
Water Temple took me 4 hours to get through on my first playthrough back then. I got lost a lot of times.
Especially the hot dog mission where you have to clear it without dying once or it’s back to the beginning with you
The fact the the Lion King's "I can't wait to be king" isn't on the list at all is criminal.
The Driver (1999) tutorial is legendary in video game history. Enough said.
I realized that the people who say that haven't actually played the game. Spend 2 minutes to figure out how to actually do the challenges correctly and don't full speed slam into the wall. It genuinely is not that hard. Enough said.
@@lethauntic It was hard to me.
GTA: Vice City - Demolition Man
That only took 2 tries. I just had to bind my keys correctly.
I was searching for someone to have mentioned it in comments 😂😂👍
How is this not number 1? I watched the whole vid and was just expecting this would be number 1. Or - Wrong Side of the Tracks! - Follow the Train CJ........ lol.
Its hard, just not dark souls hard
naaaah that was eaaayy xou just had to start in the top floor and work your way down
I knew when i clicked on this video that turbo tunnels was going to be number 1. that shit is soooooo hard. whats worse, is after you spend countless hours trying to get through it, and you finally do!! you make it to the ice level with 1 life left lol
Not even gonna mention Eggmanland from Sonic Unleashed? Other people may not have found it annoying, but it took me FOREVER to complete.
so water dam not gonna be called THAT DAM LEVEL anymore huh
