Vivek Athreya is my current favourite filmmaker in Telugu after Rajamouli. His Ante Sundaraniki is a new age classic and the best part of his movies are his screenplays and the characters. We instantly connect and fall in love with the characters and his movies are so engaging that we don't take our eyes off the screen, even for a minute. I hope he maintains his unique voice in his upcoming movies. Expecting one more movie with Nani.
I have a special soft corner for people from AP/ Telengana who have lived in Tamil Nadu for a while. Like in my undergrad days, my telugu friends, hostel mates who take great pride in their film industry, and took the effort to make me an affluent telugu speaker myself, were also constantly changing their social outlook when they understand the politics of TN, which is in contrast (questioning) to the culture (worship) of their native lands. Their social exposure changes, they understand dravidian politics better, and Vivek Athreya's undergrad life in Tamil Nadu seems to reflect all for the better. His familiarity with Thiruvalluvar, and literature in general (Sri Sri) and so on, seemed to be a lot more progressive than his current counterparts. Thank you Vivek for speaking about the Saathankulam incident as well.
Just because dravidian politics brainwashed people in TN against hinduism doesn't mean people there are somehow more pragmatic, religion is a personal preference nobody has damn right to lecture about people's preferences. The dravidian politicians are as corrupt as any other so what are you questioning these days ? Stalin is one of the most useless politicians currently and wants to make his son the next CM
This comment made my day. I share the same feelings about telugu people who live here and have the empathy to reinvestigate their personal beliefs and practices unlike many. It's also such a niche thing to observe and have an opinion on lol
Backstory would have been more impactful if Nani was born and brought up in Sokulapalem and his family or him was one of the victims of the violence or other atrocities happening. That could have added genuineness to his anger and a proper reason for his revenge etc and so on.....
Very painful watch. Yes it is unfair to compare this movie to Ante Sundar (which I have watched almost everyday for a year just pretending sundar's family was mine!). Its almost like Vivek said I'll show you a dubba masala movie. The notebook that Surya carries has telugu words and tamil words on the same page. Really?!! Slipper thrown at a dead sister, pregnant sister attack,, come on.. Vivek. all the 80's mass masala components. Why are you punishing your die-hard fans?

Questioning is there even in telugu states. Likewise hero and leader worshipping is there in TN as well!

No actually that's not the point a external being anger which is a problem has to inject courage in others and should be a purposeful one
No wonder director like Vinayak, puri etc etc etc are still getting movies!
