All the other virtuoso saxists are less deep musically. Charlie Parker is THE saxophonist.

Hank Jones, Teddy Kotick -there´s one of the most underrated basists in jazz , great intonation, good notes.. And of course Max Roach. One of the Bird´s best records.

Charlie Parker's version of "Just Friends" (here) is outstanding as is with just about all of the Music he explored/climbed into I should say! the Med Flory led group, "Supersax" which was all about the "Bird" also has a kick-tail tasty recording of
"Just Friends" well worth checking out....

Ensemble arrangements of Bird's solos are a technical tour de force, but not creative interactive improvisation, and therefore not jazz. Likewise, sometimes clever but often pedestrian lyrics set to someone else's jazz solo, also are not jazz. That stuff comes up on the radio, I turn it off.

Kim was perhaps a cheerful, busybody treasure of a beautiful lass.
Charlie Parker, her emotion-filled dad, firmly and effectively describes the fact of her vivaciousness with unrelenting but paternal candor.
Charlie Parker utilizes onomatopoeia-like cadences that are relevantly effective as rudimentary tools to narrate the actuality of his story with the alacrity that is the wont of an inquisitive and exploring infant.

i could play this at about 70 bpm slower than birds tempo in 7th grade. reached my peak way too early with sax, im 15, and im about to quit. I love sax and bird has inspired me, but i have to move on now and birds music lives on. Let this inspire more players, may bebop never die.
