The scene with Audrey letting Daniel go, beside it being the first time in the field, she's also European/French, the first instinct is not to shoot down an unarmed subject from a wall.
It was fun to see you guys try to guess who the 5th horseman was and guess everyone except who it actually was 😂😂 the movie did a great job with confusing their audience
Some folks may even call it a misdirect, funny how often that word is used throughout the film and yet the audience at home and in theatres for what I would imagine were also misdirected by Dylan Rhodes aka Mark Ruffalo the greatest misdirect in the film, well played horsemen!
@@UtopiaBlue68 that and the fact that they tell you in the beginning, through Jessie Eisenburg’s character, “ the closer you look the less you see”. So while the audience is looking at the most obvious choices for the 5th horseman the real one is right in their face the whole time lol
Fun Fact: Isla Fisher was actually struggling to escape in that Piranha Fish Tank scene. People thought it was part of the script at first. She almost drowned, because she got entangled in the chains and was unable to reach the kill switch to empty out the tank.
You mean to tell me that they didn't have a safety precaution to empty the tank quickly in case of an emergency??? Either there is something fishy with this story (no pun intended) or that is some major gross negligence on the the part of the director.
@@netflixandchinchilla - It was major gross negligence. As stated, there was an emergency switch, which she couldn't reach & those outside didn't realise it wasn't an act. This is why you should have both an emergency hand gesture & an "X amount of time & we drain the tank" setup.
in the post credits scene, dylan tells alma she was the one factor he didnt account for. so regardless of if she was assigned or if she requested the case (still unclear about that, thaddeus might have been speculating the identity of the fifth horseman when he made that call (i also have a theory about the call that ties into the second movie)), having her as a partner threw off his plans. on the bridge, dylan gives the wrong directions to the other fbi agents before alma corrects him. in the finale, the fbi agents once again go the wrong way, but alma convinces dylan to go in the correct direction towards the horsemen. his frustration at her was genuine, not because he thought she was a mole, but because she was the only thing getting in the way of his decades long revenge plot.
I feel like Isla was better than the actress that they got in the second one but yeah I kind of like the second one just as much as I like the first one I wish and don't get me wrong I love the actress that they have in the movie for everything else she's ever played in cuz she's always so adorable .
I think that it is a little restrictive to assume that being in the FBI was only a part of Mark’s characters’ revenge plan since his dad died. When I watched it I assumed that he was a character who grew up with a strong sense of justice which would allow him to have an FBI agent as his dream career and also eventually a means to an ends once he was in a position of power and had the plan worked out. A synergy between his self image as a righteous avenger and his revenge plot if you will, sort of like a less extreme version of Light Yagami if you’ve watched Death Note! Really great video, ty, glad you enjoyed it! Can’t wait for 2!! :)
My favorite part of this movie will always be how they pulled off the 7 Diamonds trick as an actual magic trick through the screen. It blew my mind the first time I saw this movie.
This is actually a real trick. Normally the magician only asks you to pick a number. Then he ensures that all four of that number are next to each other after the shuffle. When he flips through the deck, the number appears four times in a row, causing it to stand out. It doesn't actually work if you also ask them to pick a suit, unless you have multiples of the same card.
The sequel has my favorite magician scene ever, it's amazing. So many magicians reacted to it on RUclips and analyzed how much of it is realistic, and yes some of it is These two movies are such comfort movies for me 😍💙
David Copperfield has a video breaking down magic scenes in movies and when he did this one he mentions that he and another magician were actually the consultants on these films and that pretty much all of the card handling stuff is legitimate, though not strung together in that manner. Lots of palming and sleight of hand. And a ton of magic is just social engineering. Playing to expectations.
Fun Fact: In the tank scene Islah said she really did almost drown. Although there was a release mechanism on her wrists the one on her ankles did not and it got stuck underneath the slat. They had safety procedures but forgot to come up with a safe word/gesture. The crew thought she was giving a convincing performance. I can't remember if they used that cut or not. I also just noticed @6:01 they totally kept a cut where Jesse got hit in the face with her feet. 🤣
The entire theater gasped and cheered at the twist when I first saw this. This was a fantastic twist and a great movie. Should be talked about more. Sending one is as good but it’s not awful.
This is simply one of the better "background movies" I've ever seen. Just a film I can put on in the background while I am doing something else. It has a lot of campiness and cheesy qualities to it but I think that's what makes it fun at least for the magic stuff. Can't say the same about the 2nd movie...😅
@@ot7biasedmashups I mean hey to each their own, other than the one over the top card trick they do while being padded down by security the movie is kind of forgettable
i love this movie, so much fun. I hope yall watch the second one! also, I believe he was so angry with the french woman because he said she was the only thing he didn't plan for, so he really was thrown off by her presence and the suggestion that it wasn't coincidence threw him even more off
I love this movie! One of my comfort movies. I already know that I'm going to love this reaction. 😊 This is one of my all-time favorite comfort movies. This movie definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat and keeps you guessing as to what's going on. And the cast in this movie is fantastic! Absolute fun ... After having seen it several times, i spent the entire time laughing at you both naming almost everyone in the cast over and over EXCEPT Mark.. LOL You need to do the second one as well, it's also a brain scrambler.. :)
This was an incredibly entertaining movie with a fantastic twist at the end that no one saw coming. One of those guilty pleasure movies you can watch over and over again.
I've seen this movie sooo many times, it's just so entertaining to watch. Often put it on when I can't sleep. Love a good entertaining heist movie with some Robin Hood flair :D Isla is awesome and Mélanie is pretty cool , she has been in some cool projects
You know that bridge with the locks on it, Its called Pont des Arts also known as Love Lock Bridge, Couples would go there promise their undying love, lock a lock on the fence and throw the key into the water, In 2015 a part of it collapsed because all the locks on it weighed down so much breaking a part of it. They had to remove all the locks to keep the bridge standing. They then replaced the fence with glass so no one could lock any more on it. But Some people around Paris try to keep the tradition alive and put fences along brick walls and allow anyone to put Love Locks on them. I think it's sweet, but just as long as they aren't on Bridges or landmarks. XD
Engineering and math... that's what magic is. Especially the big show tricks. Magicians doing that sort of stuff are great at blueprints, mechanical engineering, architecture even. David Copperfield was the consultant on both of these movies. One of the best magicians of all time. The movie does a phenomenal job keeping you guessing and revealing little parts of the puzzle bit by bit. I love that the tricks are designed not only as tricks, but literally showing how they do things. Foreshadowing what's to come. And the end reveal is so satisfying and good. Great cast. The second one is a lot of fun as well. Some really cool stuff is done in it. Though they absolutely missed a golden opportunity on a silver platter with the title. It should have been called "Now You Don't."
When I watched this movie for the first time, I thought that all the magic tricks looked familiar. They had a certain style I remembered seeing on stage, only when they revealed in the endcredits that David Copperfield was the magic consultant the penny dropped. I was at a David Copperfield show in the 90s and this movie had his fingerprints all over it. Tbh, as much as I love Siegfried and Roy (and that Siegfried was born i my hometown) David Copperfield had the better shows. I love this movie and its sequel.
OMG HI Tara and Andrew I’m a huge fan by the way I love your movie reactions so much, you worked so hard for us we really appreciate it a lot, I haven’t seen that movie before it’s seems new to me, the actors did a phenomenal job, I can’t not wait to see more movie reactions soon.
I had forgotten that Leterier directed both thus and the Incredible Hulk. I remember that Ruffalo was one of their three finalists for the role. The thing that throws you is that Leterier made his bones as a director of photography. He also did some of his work on television shows.
You guys should watch the sequel, it's a lot of fun as well. I've always been interested in things like magic and hypnosis and such, so this movie and its sequel are right up my alley. To answer the question that the movie also sort of answered, yes, hypnosis is able to linger even after the hypnotism happened. Many hypnotists are able to plant things subliminally, so whenever you hear a certain word or phrase or see a certain action like a snap or whatever it triggers a compulsion to do or say whatever it is the hypnotist planted. As the movie also shows it does sometimes take reinforcement of the plant otherwise it will fade. Most importantly, despite what is shown in media, hypnotists cannot force any hypnotized person to do or say anything that the hypnotized person isn't comfortable with or anything like that, assuming of course you are susceptible to hypnosis because not everyone is.
YUP I've been hypnotized by a psych professor in class, and also have listened to online hypnosis tracks, and one of the consistent things is that you are still in control ultimately. People will still refuse to do things they don't want to, but they might be more comfortable doing things that seem silly or inconsequential because it's somebody else's decision.
When you see hypnotist shows, during the show, they'll usually select the people who are more willing and compliant as they go, which makes it seem like it can be more powerful than it is for most people or in most situations.
@@DarthRayj I've not been hypnotized myself, but I've been to a couple hypnotist shows and you're right, a lot of times they'll get a bunch of people on stage and then start eliminating them as the show goes on, keeping those who seem more willing and compliant. Also correct, a hypnotized person is more willing to do something if it's seems like a silly or inconsequential thing someone else suggested, but still cannot be forced to do to anything they're uncomfortable with.
So I love the Mark Ruffalo reveal in this movie and how delicious and devious the set up for the reveal actually is so much like real magic tricks. From the foreshadowing of a long awaited revenge plot with the Lionel Shrike tree and the story of how he encased a card in glass and grew a tree around it so that he could eventually perform that trick. To the amazing reveal of his character's motivations in the same scene that his mysterious partner is performing a card trick. Ah its so good!
You should catch the show The Mentalist. It's really good. Also, the show, Lie to Me with Tim Roth. Both are about body language and how they are used to manipulate and deceive, or used by professionals to uncover deception.
@emilywilhite5807 The Mentalist is great. It's about this guy [The Mentalist] who works with the police on cases using his specialist skills, but he has selfish reasons for doing so as he's trying to uncover the identity of who murdered his wife.
Me and my mother are obsessed with these two films, we can't wait for more of them 😅❤ Like my mother will ask me "Are they making more or not?" I always answer "they're supposed to but you never know with film projects!" 😂
Some folks get as much enjoyment out of hearing how the trick was performed, and others feel let down once they find out. I think I'm in the first camp of people, but at the same time I don't go looking for the answers. I still love being amazed at the impossibility of magic. I think my fav are the skilled sleight of hand masters, over props and gimmicks. You can literally stare at their hands watching for the trick and still miss how it was done. I love that!
For me, seeing the illusion, and then seeing how it was done, just makes that the illusion was so convincing in the first place even cooler. I know it's a trick the whole time, so seeing how it worked makes it that much more amazing... someone had to figure out how to do that thing. Someone had to practice hand moves thousands and thousands of times. etc.
I love these kind of magic movies. I would absolutely love a meta movie where the unknown member is us, the viewers, if there was a way to pull it off. It would be insaneeee 😂
There are those magic tricks that are done over the radio or on videos asking everyone to think of cities, countries, colours and animals etc that start with particular letters that only lead to one likely answer. I would think someone smart enough could create something like that to put into a movie's finale if they had the motivation and time to do it.
i was also thinking like one of those movies where you choose the outcome via choices where the choices we make influence the outcome of the magic trick or plot of the movie@@AFC9798
Fab reaction, look forward to you reacting to the sequel. Definitely one of the slickest heist movies, and yup- loved the twist. The magic in the second is freaky and fabulous.🥰
I've seen this movie several time, and that lady's "starfish jump" on the quarterback pile gets me every time. I have to rewatch it multiple times. Thanks for the great reaction you two!
Love this movie and the ending wasn't given away like in most movies. You definitely need to watch 2 if only to complete the series, not as good as 1 - but still worth watching.
From the beginning I suspected Mark to be the eye guy. However later in the movie I reconsidered my opinion just because it would have been too obvious if he was the main guy. Then it turns out it really was him.
I’m glad that I wasn’t the only one who missed the clue that told us the story. “ A Rose by any other name”. It went by me so fast that it didn’t even register. Dylan might have been the face of the Eye but the plot that I’m seeing is that Thaddeus pissed off the membership of the Eye and Dylan got to use his punishment to also get his revenge. This movie kept me guessing to the end.
There's two possible reasons why she didn't shoot. 1. She's from France so like it's absolutely not normal to just shoot somebody. Even if you're an armed police officer and got hurt by somebody it's still an issue if you shot them. 2. They can't write a European woman who's not a damsel in distress.
I am so happy that you reacted to this! It's one of my favorite movies, the casting for this movie was perfect! I love how the movie keeps you guessing right until the very end. Daniel Atlas is my favorite character in this series!
They basically tell you the twist at the very beginning of the movie when they say "The closer you look, the less you'll see." The person looking the closest (the FBI agent) made sure that everybody saw less.
The piranha tank trick reminds me of a trick that Criss Angel once did in the streets. He lit himself on fire, walked around for a bit then collapsed. As the firefighters put him out nothing was left but his clothes.......and then the closest firefighter to the camera removes his head gear and it Criss Angel himself. Considering that the camera was live the whole time, that was a sick trick. lol.
You guys kept debating Mark Ruffolo’s character going through all that training to become an FBI agent but didn’t connect it with the tree trick. They state that some tricks require time and discipline to pull off and that’s exactly what he applied to his trick.
You definitely need to watch the second film because it brings the entire story full circle. I found a two movie set of these films for a steal last year, and after reading the back cover, and since I hadn't seen them, I decided to buy them. I love these films now! Awesome reaction Guys!❤
On the twist, the way I like to see it is... he's an FBI agent. That's what he is, and it's his job. He just also happens to be a great magician and a part of The Eye. So, that's why he's acting like an FBI agent the whole way through. That's normal. The plan was extra.
I really love Woody Harrelson. There's a "superhero" movie he's in called "Defendor". It's not well received, but I love Woody in it so much. He's such a great actor.
The sixth sense is arguably the best twist in cinema history and the reason for that is they explained the rules before the twist. "They dont know they are dead" and "they only see what they want to see" when you know that the twist makes more sense. Even though doesn't hit the same as that does when you think about it it's the same. They told you again and again about misdirection. That while you looking over here the real trick is happening over there so while you're looking at the obvious answers you dont even think to look at the real one. It might not be biggest twist, it might not be the best twist but it is a brilliant twist.
Loved watching yall trying to guess who's the 5th horseman. It tòok him years to plan all of this. He needed to join the FBI in order to help with the misdirection. But I am so happy that you watched NYSM2. And I was just as shocked as you were. I absolutely loved that twist. I hate the obvious type of movies. This movie was refreshing.
bruh i would like to think im smart sometimes because i can guess the twist in movies or who the killer is a lot… but i could NEVER think of this plan, predict people’s next moves and potential thoughts… no way. it’s SO elaborate and thought so far ahead lol i saw this when it came out in theaters with my family back in 2013, and i remember the entire audience clapping afterwards because we were ALL surprised at the ending. SOLID movie, and i am ALSO a sucker for a good twist AND magic 🙌🏼🙌🏼

I really liked Lie to Me. Maybe I need to check out The Mentalist.
@emilywilhite5807 The Mentalist is great. It's about this guy [The Mentalist] who works with the police on cases using his specialist skills, but he has selfish reasons for doing so as he's trying to uncover the identity of who murdered his wife.
I love that you guys got deep into the ethics of bank robbery before even questioning how the trick could possibly have worked lol
Me and my mother are obsessed with these two films, we can't wait for more of them 😅❤ Like my mother will ask me "Are they making more or not?" I always answer "they're supposed to but you never know with film projects!" 😂
It’s about darn time I’ve been waiting for this reaction. I love watching reactions that not many RUclipsrs do. Love you guys keep up the good work 😊💗
this movie is always so entertaining and you two are always a great duo. thanks for the reaction, Tara and Andrew! 😃
Someone had to practice hand moves thousands and thousands of times. etc.
Watching you guys flip through the actors, trying to guess who the 5th horseman is, was the best part of this. Amazing reaction video
I was laughing at your guesses the whole time.🤣
I watched this on the big screen when it first came out. Got to say, it was one of the best experiences watching a movie, so fun, and so good.
I loved the amount of names and twists You both threw out And it was beautiful the revelation ☮️❤️
I've seen this movie several time, and that lady's "starfish jump" on the quarterback pile gets me every time. I have to rewatch it multiple times. Thanks for the great reaction you two!
This was a good time to go to the movies back then. 😂 Damn i miss these days.
The subtle for shadowing when they were on the plane. She showed him the King of 🔹. And said is this your card. He smirked and said Yeah!
When 1/2 of the Purge Mommas tells/asks you to rewind the video to see a starfish jump on a dog pile you do that
RIP 5Pointz
I always loved seeing the murals when the 7 train went around that turn.
Can’t Wait for the reaction to the 2nd one!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾
I am a sucker for heist movies and this movie included magic which makes it twice as fun
love how yall named every character except the onw that it was lol it was pretty unexpected
I loved seeing these two just trying to figure out what the twists were going to be for the entire film 😅
So strange every time you say Michael Caine it sounds like “my cocaine” 😂😂
Such a awesome movie The first time i didnt see Mark Ruffalo being the leader at the end
Lmao living on the edge with $500?!
I literally have $1 to my name
They basically tell you the twist at the very beginning of the movie when they say "The closer you look, the less you'll see."
The person looking the closest (the FBI agent) made sure that everybody saw less.
Considering that the camera was live the whole time, that was a sick trick. lol.
I love that yall are clapping at the magic tricks during the opening scenes 😂
Amazing reaction!! 👏👌 Your guessing throughout was fun to watch knowing the end. Fabulous all the way 😁👌 See ya next time. You are a great duo.
Im glad i never got spoiled. Cuz this is one of the only films with a plot twist that actually left me speechless.
You guys kept debating Mark Ruffolo’s character going through all that training to become an FBI agent but didn’t connect it with the tree trick. They state that some tricks require time and discipline to pull off and that’s exactly what he applied to his trick.
ISLA LOOKS GREAT IN THE BATHING SUIT!
You definitely need to watch the second film because it brings the entire story full circle. I found a two movie set of these films for a steal last year, and after reading the back cover, and since I hadn't seen them, I decided to buy them. I love these films now! Awesome reaction Guys!❤
Two things in New Orleans act as foreshadowing: him being called the quarterback and him saying "I'm chasing myself."
Im glad more people are getting around to these now that 3 is actually being made...
I forgot about this movie, the twist is fantastic for a "magic" film. Really fun mystery the entire time.
I cannot believe this one is 10 years old. I watched this fun caper so many times wheh I used to have cable.
Any plan can go sideways and like his dad, he spent many years planning it all from blueprints to finding the right team
I swear I could be waking up first thing and Tara always brings that energy and gets me hyped to watch your videos! Ring that bell citizens! 🎉
Working the entire movie trying to predict everything must suck the joy out of every single movie instead of just enjoying.
Flash was on the right track just a little off which is more than I can say for myself who was utterly clueless until the end 😂
This movie was refreshing.
bruh i would like to think im smart sometimes because i can guess the twist in movies or who the killer is a lot… but i could NEVER think of this plan, predict people’s next moves and potential thoughts… no way. it’s SO elaborate and thought so far ahead lol
i saw this when it came out in theaters with my family back in 2013, and i remember the entire audience clapping afterwards because we were ALL surprised at the ending. SOLID movie, and i am ALSO a sucker for a good twist AND magic 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Waiting for the 3rd one.. The second movie will explore the Morgan freeman & mark's father little bit
I can’t believe they’re gonna make a 3rd one of this
the magic of this movie is that the whole movie is the magic trick
The movie about alleged human magicians being actual wizards 😂
So ridiculous it's good.
I am not a Jesse Eisenberg fan. But he really was perfect for this role
Actually from the second movie, the girl(Henley) for the four horsemen was replace. It was a new actress but she is kinda good
You guys should see the second movie! It explains so much more about the ey and Morgan freeman’s involvement in the storyline.
I think m seeing Andrew here for the first time!! Hi dude!! 😂
Even though ik the connections it's still so fun n exciting to see when similar faces r on both channels❤️
Hi!
Love the fact, that for all the guessing, Mark Ruffalo was the ONLY person you didnt guess...lol
To the films credit that was the last person I think either of us were expecting
I LOVE HOW THE ENERGY SHIFTED WHEN U FOUND OUT WHO THE FIFTH WAS🤣🤣🤣🤣
The magic fighting style is called sleight of fist.
