They killed Akela because it's what happens in the book. Basically, the actual Rudyard Kipling book is dark af: Kaa tries to kill him, Akela is murdered, Louis tries to feed him to snakes, Mowgli murders Shere Khan with a herd of buffalo. This remake is more like the book, less like the cartoon.
The cartoon version just dumbed it down a lot for kids. Kaa was a good guy, but he/she (in Russian translation we've got all the genders messed up, Bagheera is she for instance) did try to kill the little one. Don't remember about Louis, but they definitely had a chief monkey. And the origin story was pretty much the same as it's shown here. So I like this remake much more, it's closer to the original, and the Disney cartoon is not the original at all.
When Walt Disney was making the cartoon he told his writers to avoid using the book as a template as it was too dark for a Disney property and this is still way more PG than the Kipling book was watch the Mowgli movie if you want to see an almost direct adaptation or at least as close to the darker tone that the book set.
You missed something HUGE: Shere Khan’s motivation was to protect the jungle, but he was sidetracked by his bloodlust. And he was proven correct when Mowgli started a huge fire in the jungle, scaring his wolf brothers.
At this point i ignore the EEWs of films that I like (as good movies like Toy Story get longer videos than some of the older videos done on bad ones as they basically reuse jokes to extend the video length) and selectively choose Honest Trailers as they're hit or miss when it comes to good movies (some share the happiness that we got with the films, while others dump on the films) but will always watch a EGA video regardless if the film in question is bad or good. If the film is terrible like Fifty Shades of Grey or Twilight, I'll constantly rewatch the EEW and HT videos about them. xD
Actually, I didn't mind the honest trailer of this rebooted movie. But, I wouldn't mind seeing CinemaSins and Screen Junkies attacking the 1994 live-action remake.
The baby elephant rescue scene is amazing. I love how the Elephants are meant to be the soul of the jungle and Mowgli has to use his "tricks" to save the baby. Showing that Mowgli does belong in the jungle as he is. Plus that slow version of the Bear necessities is just beautiful.
One thing I really love about this film is the remade music. Bill Murray did an excellent jazzy Bare Necessities, Walken's take on "Wanna Be Like You" was hilarious ( and impressive, working "gigantopithecus" into a rhyme scheme) and Scarlett Johansson turned "Trust in Me" into something out of a Bond film intro.
So this movie was awesome and they did a amazing job att making a even better movie than the original, in my opinion. But Lion King next? That feels weird, Lion King is like Lotr of Disney movies, how can you bring that to live action? I have high hopes, but at the same time Im very sceptical :/
My only concern with this movie is I'm not sure how to classify it. Aside from Mowgli, everything is CGI. So, does that make it an "animated" movie? We're going to have a lot more movies like this in the future (including Jon Favreau's "The Lion King"), so I'd like to know what to call them.
Everything IS CGI. Heck, it was shoot in just one room. And earned oscar over Dr Strange for that reason... and deserved it. It's just a movie. CGI movie if you really want to tag them more detailed, but just a movie seems fine. I call them disney reboots lol.
The Jungle Book is my favorite book of all time, and while I liked the original animated film, the ending to that film was just awful. This ending was a great ending, as well as just improving on the animated film in almost every category. It's not as amazing as the book, but it doesn't have to be. It's fantastic on its own.
You talked about Bill Murray, Idris Elba, Chris Walken, and Ben Kingsley, but not much love for Scarlet Johannsen's Kaa? I thought she was awesome! Creepy, seductive and snake-like. I wish Kaa had more screentime.
That’s where both versions got it wrong: in the book Kaa is Mowglis best friend & the one who saves him from the monkeys (by eating them). & the floating-in-the-river-thing was Mowgli & Kaa. But Scarlett is oc always a win.
@@lrhty1825 Yes, but it slaughtered the original book. This is a little bit more accurate, but not nearly as grim and brutal as the original. We don`t have Shir Khan getting skinned by Mogli, who then dances on his corps, we don`t have wild dogs getting stung to death by bee swarms, an event which Mogli set up and he also doesn`t murder the survivors afterwards. Mogli doesn`t destroy the human village and he doesn´t steal gold artiacty from blind old cobras. Yeah, in the original book, Mogli was quite the badass, actually.

At any rate, the faithfulness of the film to the original source material wasn't the subject of discussion. I was merely pointing out that that the film was hardly a low profile release or a flop by any definition of the word. So the OP's assertion that the film was underrated didn't make a whole lot of sense.

I'm quite glad they adapted the movie rather than the books; Mogli doesn't sound like a badass, he sounds like a sadistic madman, and would make the audience root against him.
@@lrhty1825 By underrated I mean it wasn't talked about as much as it deserved, and a lot of the talks about it were bashing it for being unoriginal or 'ruining' this or that. Nowadays you mostly only see it as an example in a list of recent remakes as someone describes how 'terrible and unnecessary' they are.
i wouldn't think so, but rewatching the original after i saw this one, i realized how simple the animated version is. of course there is everybody's favorite fun moments, and the songs are great, but yeah, its definitely a "kids movie"
for me also the trust in me instrumental soundtrack during the kaa scenes was a huge win when I first saw this in cinemas. I love your videos! So good to see some positivity on the web these days!
Among the things I love about this movie is how much closer to Kipling's books it is compared to the original. You can really feel the dangers of the jungle, lurking around at every corner; Kipling didn't really write his stories for little kids, they were full of gloom and scary moments, while still describing with huge respect the magnificence of nature. You can feel all of that in that movie ! And as always, thanks a lot CinemaWins for spreading that much positivity and enthusiasm on the internet; it's not an easy task :)
The casting in this movie does such a good job of really selling the amazing CGI in this movie. A fully fleshed out plot for a great but very simple animated movie was truly well done.
Gotta say that this has been my favorite live-action remake of the Disney movies so far. Except for Akela's death, makes me tear up every time but I still understand it.
im super late, but honestly, i think it was great that when they did the interactions/fights with bagheera and Shere Khan, they really nailed the fact that in real life, tigers are huge. and since bagheera is a Jaguar, he really wouldnt stand much of a chance against a tiger. so in the scenes where Shere Khan just kinda annihilates bagheera with just one paw swipe, thats probably what would happen in a more realistic setting

I liked how they did the songs, they kept the really iconic ones, and subtely threaded them inside the movie. Like you said Baloo is carefree so its normal for a carefree person to sing as things go along. Louie singed because he just felt like it, and since he's a giant Ape, who the heck is gonna stop him? Kaa( wich was masterfully voiced by Scarlett Johansson) tune integrates into her Mesmerizing attempt very well.

Shere Khan scared the FXXX outta me when I watched this movie and I love it. All done superbly well by not only the animation whenever the tiger is on screen, but also by the stellar voice acting done by Idris Elba, showcasing the terror the tiger is supposed to gives off.
I'd love to see your take on other Disney remakes. Not all of them were viewed well and I'd love to see the positives you can find in them. I'd especially love to see you do a video on Cinderella (2015), it's my personal favorite remake.

The CGI is just astounding. But makes me afraid about the lion king because there is no human to make it feel lifelike so it may just be cgi so curious but afraid.

Having Mowgli go to the man-village on a completely and utterly doe-eyed whim in the original was always something that upset me, even as a kid. I'm so glad the movie chose to keep him with his foster family.
I really liked this version of TJB as well, right up there with the original, & the one with John Cleese. Also, when I heard Christopher Walken was gonna B Louie, I pictured him singing 'B Like U', & it was almost exactly the same as on screen! I almost busted a gut!

i wasn't fan of this version of baloo in the beginning but it grew on me as the movie went on, maybe the lines were better but he seemed a lot funnier later in the movie
And when you watch behind-the-scenes footage, you really getting to impressive how perfectly Jon Favreau directed the movie. The movie filmed in studio in front of the green screen and the result is more than impressive.

I'm sensing that the composer's favorite character was Kaa overall. Not only is the original flute theme for Kaa heard in the background in the new movie when Kaa makes her appearance, but a dramatic instrumental version of Kaa's song is played when she tells of Mowgli's origin. That's some heavy reference, there.
My only problem with this movie is the animals say that the “red flower” is human creation yet it happens all the time in nature due to maybe lightning or dry grass in hot sunlight but they should definitely know that fire isn’t just human creation.
I especially loved the scene with Kaa while the camera was panning around, you just see the tiniest bits and pieces of Kaa's body in the background among the vines. Crappy as hell
8:18 - Actually Louie isn't larger than life. The filmmakers chose not to make him an orangutang in this film because they realized that those actually don't live in India. Instead he is a gigantopethicus. An enormous species of ape that has gone extinct.
This movie was great, if you ask me, and I'd barely put it in leagues with the original. It's so different in structure and tone, but manages to still throw some nostalgia our way
Honestly, what absolutely sold the movie for me was Scarlett's Kaa. Yup. So much yup. The voice was perfect, you could literally count every scale on the Burmese Python's body, she moved realistic... And holy crap the way she unhinged her jaw while the teeth slowly unsheeted from their gums. Disney absolutely did their research this time, it was as real as it gets to how a snake bites (obviously they do this much quicker in real life, but that's not the point). And boy the atmosphere. It wasn't just a snake in a movie. It was THE SNAKE in a movie. Any movie. Slow, calculating sinister, cold, yet creepily calming and even seducing. The female fatal of the animal kingdom. That in itself was perfection, but the fact they could somewhat not only do that, but play homage to the original cartoon while also incorporating the wise teacher aspect of the book Kaa, giving Maui information that ultimately helps in his journey. Almost everything in this movie feels perfect for me. Except maybe Akela's death... The CGI looked a bit wonky, dare to say funny when he flew off the cliff. I would have been happier if they just cut off the scene for a second when Sheer Khaan bites on his throat, then continue on the aspect he is talking to the rest of the pack, with showing the body laying in the background with the neck and head hidden (for PG reasons). But other than that... I think it was a fantastic movie! So well done Disney.
This film is absolutely amazing! It does what any remake should do, improve upon the original in every way possible. Not only that, but the CGI looks amazingly realistic (no wonder why it won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects). And the voice actors (especially Idris Elba) really bring all the animals to life. Overall, this is a great film. It's one of my favourite Disney movies, and quite possibly my favourite movie of 2016.
Got to say I love both versions of this. Both just make my inner child jump with joy but I really love the live action. It just makes me feel like wow! The age I now live in can improve the already amazing things that I know and love from my childhood. Which is why I'm super pumped for Beauty and the Beast! And more so for the live action Lion King. Get it right Disney, I know you can do it.
The reason that this film is so different to the original is because it is attempting to capture the EXTREMELY darkness of the book. In the book Kaa was good, Akela was attempted killed, Mowgli lived in the village halfway through the story, the monkey attempted to feed Mowgli to snakes and Mowgli trampled Shere Kahn with a herd of bulls.
I'll be honest, I was skeptical about the Jungle Book Live action, even when I heard who was gonna voice whom. But actually it made those doubts vanish within the first 10 minutes!
Personally, I love the remake, even as its own thing. It had a plot, the villain was intense, and the CGI looked and felt real. Also, I didn't think it was possible to make Christopher Walken intimidating.
We need more CinemaWins. These types of videos remind me of why i enjoyed a movie or how much work and thought is put into each part of a script, setting or entire movie. Ultimately the director and plot produce a message but is sometimes overlooked by Cinemasins or honest trailers. Its great to see CinemaWins uncover and translate different messages and show us that remakes are made not to cover up the movie before but express its original ideas and making few changes can keep it interesting.
Interesting bit of information, the book that is shown closing at the end is the same book that was shown opening in the original animated movie. They had to go to the archives to film it.

I just... The scene with Kaa where you can see the glimpses of the giant snake kind of intermixed with all the trees, tree branches and vines. And then in the scene where king Louis actually gets up from his 'throne'/seat thing and you can see the fur/hair rip off and stick to the ground because of how heavy he is and how long he's been sitting there (as well as his loud scream/shout, which I took to be of both pain and anger because mowgli is escaping). A+ for detail disney. A+.
I'm glad you mentioned how wonderfully improved the story was, especially the ending where Mogli stays with the animals. That was something that got me about the original. He goes through so much, and then just dumps everything he knows for a pretty face. It was really annoying to me, and should have spawned a sequel that shows how the few cases of humans raised by animals usually go, i.e. BADLY!!!
I really liked this remake. The CGI was amazing and Mowgli did a fantastic job. The only thing that took me out of the movie was King Louis' song. Where Baloo and Mowgli are just singing to have a good time, I Want to Be Like You felt forced into the film just to have it there.

i love this movie. i really like how they adapted it to be more accurate, and also drawing on the original book while still being true to the original animated movie. like changing Kaa back to female like she is in the books and also finding a middle line between the helpful kind Kaa of the book and the trickster that tries to eat Mowgli from the movie; by having Kaa seem kind and help him learn about his past but then discover it was a trap to hypnotize him and eat him. and i actually really enjoy the fact that King Louie is a gigantopithicus. in the original animated movie he is a orangutan, but there are no orangutans native to India, nowhere close actually. so they obviously did their research to find out "how do we keep him orangutan but also be accurate?" and the answer is the gigantopithicus. its bones have been found in India and from what scientists have found they think its closest living relative is the orangutan. its brilliant. sure they have stretch the chance that a gigantopithicus is still alive at this time, but it just adds to mystic and the whole "king of the moneys" thing King Louie has. of course all the monkeys would bow to this gigantic primate that is very rare (and probably last of his kind) but on the other hand it then upsets me they didn't make Baloo a sloth bear. even in the animated movie the "word of god" said that he was a sloth bear, even though he used the basic early Disney bear model. but in this he looks like a brown bear, which don't exist in India. it just feels lazy compared to everything else

Fighting Faerie Kaa never tried to eat Mowgli in the books so that's still fucked up. And in the books Baloo was just as wise, if not more so than Bagheera. Baloo was a wise old bear and Mowgli's primary teacher
I know Akela's death is not win. But it's a win for Shere Khan. Seriously, he is an animal, going for his throat and killing would totally be his move right? Wrong. He freaking THROWS HIM OFF THE CLIFF. That is BRUTAL in my book. In my Jungle Book? Whatever that scene had me shocked at the cinema. And it made Shere Khan reach a whole new level of scary.
I also thought it was great (in a weird way) for the ambiance of the story and the character of Akela. By subverting the "famous last words" trope, the audience is caught completely offguard and his death feels much more cold, shocking, and tragic. Compare it, for example, to Hans Solo's "death" and Hans Solo just seems cheesy by comparison. Giving the audience time to get used to the death of a character has become, unfortunately, cliche. A cliche that was well avoided here I think. Also, death in the blink of an eye really matches the jungle environment and its harshness.
I never understood that. If you dislike movie being reviewed, or something, why hit dislike? Like and dislike are meaning you like or dislike video's content. how it's made, what was it said, blah blah. I speak generally, guy that disliked after 6 mins is just a troll.
Could you do Gone Girl at some point? It's one of my favorite books and movies and Cinema Sins was so picky about it and ripped it apart. It deserves some redemption from that.
What's worse, they shield themselves saying their videos are not meant to be taken seriously. But they seriously get angry when reviewing certain movies and present their opinions as fact.

I know I requested The Fountain and you, my kind sir, gave me hope that you will do it at some point. I do have a second request and it's a movie I love but has been forgotten. It's the Wachowski's live action interpretation of Speed Racer. So underappreciated and fun to watch
The bad thing about remakes is they don't take risks on new stories... Check out the success of many Netflix and Amazon movies and series based on original stories and new ideas that most Hollywood studios wouldn't produce.
-Way less music, -More focus on Mowgli -Less dumb kids stuff, more seriousness but not too much -Completely different ending (that tops the original on so many levels) .... Nah, they totally didn't take any risks. Also, whenever movies actually take risks, the critics freak out as if they were on fire.
That's not a "bad" thing. Although changes were made, as pointed out in this very movie, and ballsy ones at that, don't forget the actual point of a remake, to audiences. People cry that they're just a cash grab, but really, it's more than that. I was born in 1984 and I still haven't seen the original Jungle Book. I watched Robin Hood and it wasn't that entertaining, quality pretty low, and I didn't see that until I was like 12 and watching it with my 4 year old sister. So imagine parents trying to get kids in on those old morals and tales they grew up on. Today's technology and how early, and easily, kids get exposed to it would make that an actual trying matter. By the time they're actually old enough to catch on to and remember these morals, they're already accustomed to higher quality and would become bored with it. If a person doesn't look back at stuff like that with nostalgia, they'd think the same. That's the real point of remakes and why they won't stray too far away. It's updating a timeless story, or timeless message, to be easier to digest for the audience receiving it.
Only way I can go for a remake is if they take the concept and make it different, if they don't, it ends up shit like Ghostbusters,Total Recall and Robocop

Avery O'Neill Actually, Kaa was a good guy in the original books and King Louie wasn't in them at all. Just saying.
The cartoon version just dumbed it down a lot for kids. Kaa was a good guy, but he/she (in Russian translation we've got all the genders messed up, Bagheera is she for instance) did try to kill the little one. Don't remember about Louis, but they definitely had a chief monkey. And the origin story was pretty much the same as it's shown here. So I like this remake much more, it's closer to the original, and the Disney cartoon is not the original at all.
When Walt Disney was making the cartoon he told his writers to avoid using the book as a template as it was too dark for a Disney property and this is still way more PG than the Kipling book was watch the Mowgli movie if you want to see an almost direct adaptation or at least as close to the darker tone that the book set.
They didn't kill Akela. I have the original books. They tried, but Mowgli saved him.
I personally love Kaa as a villain more.
You missed something HUGE: Shere Khan’s motivation was to protect the jungle, but he was sidetracked by his bloodlust. And he was proven correct when Mowgli started a huge fire in the jungle, scaring his wolf brothers.

At this point i ignore the EEWs of films that I like (as good movies like Toy Story get longer videos than some of the older videos done on bad ones as they basically reuse jokes to extend the video length) and selectively choose Honest Trailers as they're hit or miss when it comes to good movies (some share the happiness that we got with the films, while others dump on the films) but will always watch a EGA video regardless if the film in question is bad or good.
If the film is terrible like Fifty Shades of Grey or Twilight, I'll constantly rewatch the EEW and HT videos about them. xD
Actually, I didn't mind the honest trailer of this rebooted movie. But, I wouldn't mind seeing CinemaSins and Screen Junkies attacking the 1994 live-action remake.

The baby elephant rescue scene is amazing. I love how the Elephants are meant to be the soul of the jungle and Mowgli has to use his "tricks" to save the baby. Showing that Mowgli does belong in the jungle as he is. Plus that slow version of the Bear necessities is just beautiful.
One thing I really love about this film is the remade music. Bill Murray did an excellent jazzy Bare Necessities, Walken's take on "Wanna Be Like You" was hilarious ( and impressive, working "gigantopithecus" into a rhyme scheme) and Scarlett Johansson turned "Trust in Me" into something out of a Bond film intro.
So this movie was awesome and they did a amazing job att making a even better movie than the original, in my opinion. But Lion King next? That feels weird, Lion King is like Lotr of Disney movies, how can you bring that to live action? I have high hopes, but at the same time Im very sceptical :/

My only concern with this movie is I'm not sure how to classify it. Aside from Mowgli, everything is CGI. So, does that make it an "animated" movie? We're going to have a lot more movies like this in the future (including Jon Favreau's "The Lion King"), so I'd like to know what to call them.

The Jungle Book is my favorite book of all time, and while I liked the original animated film, the ending to that film was just awful. This ending was a great ending, as well as just improving on the animated film in almost every category. It's not as amazing as the book, but it doesn't have to be. It's fantastic on its own.

That’s where both versions got it wrong: in the book Kaa is Mowglis best friend & the one who saves him from the monkeys (by eating them). & the floating-in-the-river-thing was Mowgli & Kaa. But Scarlett is oc always a win.
Underrated movie! It's so beautiful, and a much more mature and (imo) improved version of the lighthearted original.
Underrated? It was both a critical and commercial smash hit and is even getting a sequel at some point.

We don`t have Shir Khan getting skinned by Mogli, who then dances on his corps, we don`t have wild dogs getting stung to death by bee swarms, an event which Mogli set up and he also doesn`t murder the survivors afterwards. Mogli doesn`t destroy the human village and he doesn´t steal gold artiacty from blind old cobras.
Yeah, in the original book, Mogli was quite the badass, actually.

At any rate, the faithfulness of the film to the original source material wasn't the subject of discussion. I was merely pointing out that that the film was hardly a low profile release or a flop by any definition of the word. Nowadays you mostly only see it as an example in a list of recent remakes as someone describes how 'terrible and unnecessary' they are.

Among the things I love about this movie is how much closer to Kipling's books it is compared to the original. You can really feel the dangers of the jungle, lurking around at every corner; Kipling didn't really write his stories for little kids, they were full of gloom and scary moments, while still describing with huge respect the magnificence of nature. You can feel all of that in that movie !

The casting in this movie does such a good job of really selling the amazing CGI in this movie. A fully fleshed out plot for a great but very simple animated movie was truly well done.
Gotta say that this has been my favorite live-action remake of the Disney movies so far. Except for Akela's death, makes me tear up every time but I still understand it.
im super late, but honestly, i think it was great that when they did the interactions/fights with bagheera and Shere Khan, they really nailed the fact that in real life, tigers are huge. and since bagheera is a Jaguar, he really wouldnt stand much of a chance against a tiger. so in the scenes where Shere Khan just kinda annihilates bagheera with just one paw swipe, thats probably what would happen in a more realistic setting
I approached this movie with extreme skepticism, but was delightfully surprised! I'm not a fan of most remakes, but this movie falls into the very rare exceptions. Thank you for the review as it is dead on.

Shere Khan scared the FXXX outta me when I watched this movie and I love it. All done superbly well by not only the animation whenever the tiger is on screen, but also by the stellar voice acting done by Idris Elba, showcasing the terror the tiger is supposed to gives off.
I'd love to see your take on other Disney remakes. Not all of them were viewed well and I'd love to see the positives you can find in them. I'd especially love to see you do a video on Cinderella (2015), it's my personal favorite remake.

I really liked this movie. It's a good movie on it's own but what really takes it to new heights for me is Shere Khan. He was just so cool.

The CGI is just astounding. But makes me afraid about the lion king because there is no human to make it feel lifelike so it may just be cgi so curious but afraid.
Well, they did it with Happy Feet and Rango. So I don't see why they can't do the same with The Lion King.

Having Mowgli go to the man-village on a completely and utterly doe-eyed whim in the original was always something that upset me, even as a kid. I'm so glad the movie chose to keep him with his foster family.
I really liked this version of TJB as well, right up there with the original, & the one with John Cleese. Also, when I heard Christopher Walken was gonna B Louie, I pictured him singing 'B Like U', & it was almost exactly the same as on screen! I almost busted a gut!

i wasn't fan of this version of baloo in the beginning but it grew on me as the movie went on, maybe the lines were better but he seemed a lot funnier later in the movie

I'm sensing that the composer's favorite character was Kaa overall.
Not only is the original flute theme for Kaa heard in the background in the new movie when Kaa makes her appearance, but a dramatic instrumental version of Kaa's song is played when she tells of Mowgli's origin.

My only problem with this movie is the animals say that the “red flower” is human creation yet it happens all the time in nature due to maybe lightning or dry grass in hot sunlight but they should definitely know that fire isn’t just human creation.
I love the end credits, but they totally should have put Fall Out Boy's version of "I wanna be like you" in the credits somewhere
I especially loved the scene with Kaa while the camera was panning around, you just see the tiniest bits and pieces of Kaa's body in the background among the vines. Crappy as hell
8:18 - Actually Louie isn't larger than life. The filmmakers chose not to make him an orangutang in this film because they realized that those actually don't live in India. Instead he is a gigantopethicus. An enormous species of ape that has gone extinct.

This movie was great, if you ask me, and I'd barely put it in leagues with the original. It's so different in structure and tone, but manages to still throw some nostalgia our way
Honestly, what absolutely sold the movie for me was Scarlett's Kaa. Yup. So much yup. The voice was perfect, you could literally count every scale on the Burmese Python's body, she moved realistic...
And holy crap the way she unhinged her jaw while the teeth slowly unsheeted from their gums. Disney absolutely did their research this time, it was as real as it gets to how a snake bites (obviously they do this much quicker in real life, but that's not the point).
And boy the atmosphere. It wasn't just a snake in a movie. It was THE SNAKE in a movie. Any movie. Slow, calculating sinister, cold, yet creepily calming and even seducing. The female fatal of the animal kingdom.
That in itself was perfection, but the fact they could somewhat not only do that, but play homage to the original cartoon while also incorporating the wise teacher aspect of the book Kaa, giving Maui information that ultimately helps in his journey.
Almost everything in this movie feels perfect for me. Except maybe Akela's death... The CGI looked a bit wonky, dare to say funny when he flew off the cliff. I would have been happier if they just cut off the scene for a second when Sheer Khaan bites on his throat, then continue on the aspect he is talking to the rest of the pack, with showing the body laying in the background with the neck and head hidden (for PG reasons).
But other than that... I think it was a fantastic movie! So well done Disney.
This film is absolutely amazing! It does what any remake should do, improve upon the original in every way possible. Not only that, but the CGI looks amazingly realistic (no wonder why it won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects). And the voice actors (especially Idris Elba) really bring all the animals to life. Overall, this is a great film. It's one of my favourite Disney movies, and quite possibly my favourite movie of 2016.
Got to say I love both versions of this. Both just make my inner child jump with joy but I really love the live action. It just makes me feel like wow! The age I now live in can improve the already amazing things that I know and love from my childhood. Which is why I'm super pumped for Beauty and the Beast! And more so for the live action Lion King. Get it right Disney, I know you can do it.
The reason that this film is so different to the original is because it is attempting to capture the EXTREMELY darkness of the book.
In the book Kaa was good, Akela was attempted killed, Mowgli lived in the village halfway through the story, the monkey attempted to feed Mowgli to snakes and Mowgli trampled Shere Kahn with a herd of bulls.
Trust me, you're gonna get to atleast 5M subs if your channel continues like this
I'll be honest, I was skeptical about the Jungle Book Live action, even when I heard who was gonna voice whom. But actually it made those doubts vanish within the first 10 minutes!
I actually loved the original so much when I was little that I named my cat Bagheera, and he oddly enough acts very similarly to the animated Panther!
This was honestly one of the better remakes I've seen from Disney. Actually, both this and Maleficent remain my favorite remakes.
Personally, I love the remake, even as its own thing. It had a plot, the villain was intense, and the CGI looked and felt real.
Also, I didn't think it was possible to make Christopher Walken intimidating.
We need more CinemaWins. These types of videos remind me of why i enjoyed a movie or how much work and thought is put into each part of a script, setting or entire movie. Ultimately the director and plot produce a message but is sometimes overlooked by Cinemasins or honest trailers. Its great to see CinemaWins uncover and translate different messages and show us that remakes are made not to cover up the movie before but express its original ideas and making few changes can keep it interesting.
Interesting bit of information, the book that is shown closing at the end is the same book that was shown opening in the original animated movie. They had to go to the archives to film it.

Yeah, the effects are definitely top notch. And the entire movie too.
I just... The scene with Kaa where you can see the glimpses of the giant snake kind of intermixed with all the trees, tree branches and vines. And then in the scene where king Louis actually gets up from his 'throne'/seat thing and you can see the fur/hair rip off and stick to the ground because of how heavy he is and how long he's been sitting there (as well as his loud scream/shout, which I took to be of both pain and anger because mowgli is escaping). A+ for detail disney. A+.

I'm glad you mentioned how wonderfully improved the story was, especially the ending where Mogli stays with the animals. That was something that got me about the original. He goes through so much, and then just dumps everything he knows for a pretty face. It was really annoying to me, and should have spawned a sequel that shows how the few cases of humans raised by animals usually go, i.e. BADLY!!!
Not going to lie, I loved the White Fang reference. That movie was so good.
I really liked this remake. The CGI was amazing and Mowgli did a fantastic job. The only thing that took me out of the movie was King Louis' song. Where Baloo and Mowgli are just singing to have a good time, I Want to Be Like You felt forced into the film just to have it there.

You, my good sir, speak the truth about remakes/reboots (especially the Disney ones). "Nothing", "Not One Way", and all the "Zero ways".
i love this movie. i really like how they adapted it to be more accurate, and also drawing on the original book while still being true to the original animated movie. like changing Kaa back to female like she is in the books and also finding a middle line between the helpful kind Kaa of the book and the trickster that tries to eat Mowgli from the movie; by having Kaa seem kind and help him learn about his past but then discover it was a trap to hypnotize him and eat him.
and i actually really enjoy the fact that King Louie is a gigantopithicus. in the original animated movie he is a orangutan, but there are no orangutans native to India, nowhere close actually. so they obviously did their research to find out "how do we keep him orangutan but also be accurate?" and the answer is the gigantopithicus. its bones have been found in India and from what scientists have found they think its closest living relative is the orangutan. its brilliant. sure they have stretch the chance that a gigantopithicus is still alive at this time, but it just adds to mystic and the whole "king of the moneys" thing King Louie has. of course all the monkeys would bow to this gigantic primate that is very rare (and probably last of his kind)
but on the other hand it then upsets me they didn't make Baloo a sloth bear. even in the animated movie the "word of god" said that he was a sloth bear, even though he used the basic early Disney bear model. but in this he looks like a brown bear, which don't exist in India. it just feels lazy compared to everything else
So Kaa is female in the books?! Amazing. As a kid, I only knew the Disney cartoon and the Goodtimes version. Both portrayed Kaa as male.

Fighting Faerie Kaa never tried to eat Mowgli in the books so that's still fucked up. And in the books Baloo was just as wise, if not more so than Bagheera. Baloo was a wise old bear and Mowgli's primary teacher
Uhm, not to be a know-it-all, but Kaa was male in the book, and Baloo is a sloth bear in this movie, Bagheera says so himself.
I'd be interested in a new adaptation of brother bear. It's probably my favourite Disney movie and it has lots of potential for a real-life adaptation

I love how Sins was complaining about the CGI, but Wins was complimenting it
I know Akela's death is not win. But it's a win for Shere Khan. Seriously, he is an animal, going for his throat and killing would totally be his move right? Wrong. He freaking THROWS HIM OFF THE CLIFF. That is BRUTAL in my book. In my Jungle Book? Whatever that scene had me shocked at the cinema. And it made Shere Khan reach a whole new level of scary.
I also thought it was great (in a weird way) for the ambiance of the story and the character of Akela. By subverting the "famous last words" trope, the audience is caught completely offguard and his death feels much more cold, shocking, and tragic. Compare it, for example, to Hans Solo's "death" and Hans Solo just seems cheesy by comparison. Giving the audience time to get used to the death of a character has become, unfortunately, cliche. A cliche that was well avoided here I think.
Also, death in the blink of an eye really matches the jungle environment and its harshness.
I remember when me and my entire 5th grade class went to a movie theatre to watch this for a field trip one of the best field trips ever!

Could you do Gone Girl at some point? It's one of my favorite books and movies and Cinema Sins was so picky about it and ripped it apart. It deserves some redemption from that.
Cinema Sins does that with everything. They are so nitpicky that they seem utterly incapable of enjoying anything
What's worse, they shield themselves saying their videos are not meant to be taken seriously.
But they seriously get angry when reviewing certain movies and present their opinions as fact.
They're unreasonable for comedic affect. I'm not trying to argue or seem rude or anything, I'm just saying none of what cinema sins does is actually serious, just hit or miss humor. :p
Yeah I get that it appeals to plenty of people just not me. Besides I would love to see what great things CinemaWins can point out as he always does!

I know I requested The Fountain and you, my kind sir, gave me hope that you will do it at some point. I do have a second request and it's a movie I love but has been forgotten. It's the Wachowski's live action interpretation of Speed Racer. So underappreciated and fun to watch

The bad thing about remakes is they don't take risks on new stories... Check out the success of many Netflix and Amazon movies and series based on original stories and new ideas that most Hollywood studios wouldn't produce.
It's because Hollywood is more interested in money than creativity.
-Way less music,
-More focus on Mowgli
-Less dumb kids stuff, more seriousness but not too much
-Completely different ending (that tops the original on so many levels)
.... Nah, they totally didn't take any risks.
Also, whenever movies actually take risks, the critics freak out as if they were on fire.

That's not a "bad" thing. Although changes were made, as pointed out in this very movie, and ballsy ones at that, don't forget the actual point of a remake, to audiences. People cry that they're just a cash grab, but really, it's more than that. I was born in 1984 and I still haven't seen the original Jungle Book. I watched Robin Hood and it wasn't that entertaining, quality pretty low, and I didn't see that until I was like 12 and watching it with my 4 year old sister. So imagine parents trying to get kids in on those old morals and tales they grew up on. Today's technology and how early, and easily, kids get exposed to it would make that an actual trying matter. By the time they're actually old enough to catch on to and remember these morals, they're already accustomed to higher quality and would become bored with it. If a person doesn't look back at stuff like that with nostalgia, they'd think the same. That's the real point of remakes and why they won't stray too far away. It's updating a timeless story, or timeless message, to be easier to digest for the audience receiving it.
Only way I can go for a remake is if they take the concept and make it different, if they don't, it ends up shit like Ghostbusters,Total Recall and Robocop
