I just purchased a screen and frame and a rear cover from Amazon. After watching this video I wonder if that was such a good idea. My phone will likely call Timbuktu or some such place after I'm finished with it lol :)

Thank you, covered all the little details. To remove the battery, I heated the screen for a couple of minutes with a hair dryer, which softened the glue underneath, made it easier to lift.
Great tip, this is the way to do it, otherwise there is too high a risk of puncturing the outer layer.

Since having my screen replaced with an aftermarket one my signal doesn't seem to be as good as it was? Do you have an idea why, it just seems odd to me.

Likely one of two things. Damaged battery, if you bent it getting it out. Or a static shock from you has fried the main board. Sadly these videos don't tell you about the equipment they use, like antistatic mat, gloves, wristband, etc. You could ask a repair shop to try a battery swap, just to test it.
Yea you should have taken to a repair shop, not diy and screwed his phone up

Don't use metal tweezers when removing the battery connect ffs! You'll cause a short and a spark/flame. Happened to me many times. Sometimes it damaged the board. Use the plastic tools for removing metal connectors.
what a ball ache of a process... bet my local shop will charge about £100 to repair it plus.... still probably cheaper than buying a new phone but... mmmmm.... rule to self... don't take your phone protector off your phone ever (even to make that crappy magnetic car phone holder work better - coz you'll forget to put your cover on again and then you'll drop the bastard on the floor).
