    The audacity of Ella. She knew exactly what she did to that girl, and has the nerve of being sad that no one wants anything to do with her? Both Ella and OPs son are garbage people. I'd pick my daughter over a son that dates someone who bullied a girl to near suicide any day. "Hey mom I'm marrying my sisters abuser" would be our last conversation.

    • @beautifulmidnight
      @beautifulmidnight Год назад +124

      Exactly. I was in OP’s daughter’s situation. Twenty years later and I still struggle with body issues and residual eating disorder feelings. (I still have to fight the urge to starve myself as a punishment.)
      I love my brother more than almost anyone in the world, but if he came home and was like “Hey, I started dating Amanda, that girl you knew in junior high,” I’d give him a chance to come to his senses, and then that’s it. Goodbye.
      And I’d cut off anyone who picked her side.

    • @Tustin2121
      @Tustin2121 Год назад +48

      Imma play devil’s advocate here: Ella probably doesn’t know exactly what she did to the daughter. She was probably her bitchy self throughout high school and if she never saw first hand what her words and actions did, she never would have connected it to her own actions. It’s not like the daughter is gonna want to see Ella when the daughter is in the hospital at her lowest, so Ella likely never knew. It’s that old trope where, for the victim, it’s the worst days of their lives, but for the aggressor, it was Tuesday.
      Here’s hoping that the crying to sleep was her realizing what she did and not just “woe is me”, but I’m not holding my breath.

      @@chouhone - I mean, even if they did get punished, that was, what, a few days at most of suspension? Probably for what the girls thought were BS reasons at the time? Obviously didn’t sink in the full weight of what she did. And yes, the son is the biggest AH here for not even considering what this is doing to his own sister. Because he DEFINITELY has the context here.

    The last story (From the 13:24 marker to the end of the video) has an update:
    OP broke up with her BF via text message, saying what he did really crossed a line with her and that she never wants to hear from him again. She blocked him from all her contacts and was thinking of even changing her number too.
    Her friend she was staying with helped retrieve most of her important stuff from the old place with her own boyfriend's help except for a TV and an XBox OP bought with her own money (she didn't feel like she had the energy to go through with getting those back, so she initially let it go).
    The Ex-BF's mom later contacted her to ask about what was going on, because Ex-BF called his mom telling her OP had a mental breakdown and ran away, and he was worried about her.
    OP told his mom what really happened, and the mom got PISSED!
    She apologized to OP immensely and said that that's not how she raised her son to be, and she even offered to help OP in any way that she could.
    After that, the mom then told Ex-BF's older sister about what happened, and even she became very pissed at her brother for what he did. The older sister also apologized for her brother's asshole behaviour, offering to help OP in any way that she could too, despite their not being entirely all that close.
    OP appreciated the gesture, but didn't want to trouble the sister all too much with the drama, but the sister insisted on helping because there was no way she was going to let her brother get away with what he did to OP.
    This whole ordeal left OP very drained and exhausted. She felt like she ignored all the red flags in that relationship because she was afraid of being alone. She's been trying not to completely blame herself for what happened, but also feels like this is what she gets for subjecting herself to this situation.
    She concludes the update hoping that nothing else from this drama ever comes up again, thanking her readers for their support and advice, promising to probably give another update once everything has all cooled down.

    There's no amount of apologizing you could do to make up for the fact that you believed psycho mom over your own wife. Honestly, I don't think she should forgive her daughter so easily either, she was 16 not 6 and was old enough to at least hear her own mother out. If the daughter is so mad that OP won't forgive them right away, then it sounds like both the ex and daughter are apologizing because they want to feel better about themselves and the horrible thing they did than to make OP feel better.
    Edit: I found the original Reddit thread and the daughter responded. She pretty much played the victim and took no responsibility for what she did. Pretty much said grandma love bombed me and bought me gift so I took her side over my mom's. And to make matters worse, it sounds like grandma paid a crackhead friend of the husband to lie about being in an affair with OP and everyone believed him. The fact that the ex didn't need anything more than the word of an addict just leaves me speechless. OP should move away and cut all her toxic ex family out of her life.

      Agreed. Taking the cell phone or internet away may work, but that's only a bandaid short term solution. You're only showing the kid you don't want him on whatever he's into and getting these ideas from. Making them more appealing because you're forbidding them. You're only dealing with the surface and not addressing the real problem.
      Time gor malicious parental compliance. Make the kid "pay rent (obviously just put it in a savings account or something temporarily) and each month increase the amount, or increase the frequency of when it's due. When he complains, which he almost no doubt will inevitably do, that's when you remind him of his own absurd notions about the sanctity of landlords and how they apparently can do no wrong. Make sure to ask for your landlord tip, too. Demonstrate the reality of the ideals he's been soaking up. Act completely innocent about it.
      "bUt I'm A laNdlorD, It's mY rIghT tO acT thIs waY."

      With a follow up reminder that as a landlord, you can do anything you want, and it's perfectly fine to do so. Be sure to thank him for teaching you and being so smart and helpful about all this.
      In all reality, he's probably just being a dumb edgy teenager who thinks he's the smartest person in the room now, because he's browsed some reddit forums or something, and that he knows more than his dumb "rentoid" father. I'm surprised she didn't cut and run the moment he started saying all of that about mental health, especially the "pEoPLe WiTh tRaUmA nEeD tO gEt oVeR iT," line. That's the mantra of people who have never experienced trauma in their lives and who lack understanding or empathy for others. I say lack of understanding because people with ASD have difficulty putting themselves in someone else's shoes, and I don't have a problem with people like that. They can't help it. I once dated someone that I now think is on the autistic spectrum, because, while he was pretty sweet for the most part, he really didn't seem to understand how it felt to have trauma. He had lived a pretty sheltered life, and also had no idea how dangerous the world can be. As such, he would constantly dismiss my concerns about my personal safety. But I digress.
    Anyway, it sounds like this idiot (OP's ex) is in the latter category: he lacks empathy. The first pranks were pretty mild and definitely something that can easily be laughed off, but definitely not the jump scare "pranks," let alone the fake suicide. My stomach has never been big at all, but not flat either since that's not my body type. Between the ages 11-15 I was SA'd, slapped on the butt, groped and bullied. This led me to get an ED. Now I am 30 and still suffer from thought of self-harm, occasional deep depressions and OCD. I nuke a bottle of Dishsoap and shampoo a week to wash myself with, not because of the bullying far back then, but because it is now a "natural" response of mine to stress and worries. Luckily I have a husband who likes me chonky and tells me all the time that I am beautiful to him. But of course the self-consciousness never goes away.
