That engine put together and installed along with the alternating color scheme you picked it absolutely flawless with the white... holy shit, I am still just taking it all in at the moment and super stoked to see you super stoked lol 🔥🤘🙌 🔥
Cerakote makes a heat rejection coating that is black and would work well to tie your intercooler into the rest of the theme rather than being polished and help the efficiency of the intercooler. The car looks great you are doing one hell of a job!
When putting in the apex seals loose, there is a little trick if you're not gluing the end pieces together. I put the apex seals in the rotor without the springs to make sure they're lined up with the bottom corner seal. Then I slide the small spring down and then push in the long spring. The long spring pushes the little spring into position. This is the way Rotary Aviation does it. I don't like gluing them because if you glue them wrong, they may take to long to separate and you'll have weak compression on your 1st start-up. Edit: On the big flywheel nut. Breaker bar with 3-1/2' pipe. Put 100lbs on weight on the end to hit your 350lbs torque.
Listening to you talk about the keyway under the oil pump gear reminded me I tore down an FRS engine for a recall a couple weeks ago and whoever was in it previously just slammed the crank bolt on without lining up said keyway. Customer was lucky they had oil pressure at al
I'm so glad she's coming together so well. Glad you went with the bronze on the turbo. It looks gangster. She's gonna be a little killer. Way to go, brother. 💯
Awesome stuff man. She seems to be coming together quick. Love the pacing of the videos, you seem to be hitting that sweet spot. Refreshing to see a Sema build that isn't all about the last-minute rush to make it to Sema on time.
Trying to cover a decent amount of work per video, vs just tossing a couple things in and calling it good. 😅 I’ve never understood why people try to start quality SEMA worth cars a week before the show 💀
Having been a subaru person myself for a while and i as well recently picked up an rx7 this build is super fun to watch. I've seen a few other people like to run the engine hoist from the side when installing these motors. not sure what the benefits are but figured i would mention it.
@@Smeedia loving it so far mine is just an Na 89 Fc rx7 but was parked in a barn for 17 years as the previous owner wanted an Rx8 Slowly sourcing parts to do a full turbo motor build. Love the detail in your vids planning to dive into doing the motor work myself too.
If we run into issues I’ll pull to and dowel it. With how much I’ve already dumped into it, it was a hair out of budget 😅 I’ll prob keep it turned down in the 500-550whp range for now
Man, it has been a while since i've seen you build the rotary. Had no idea what kind of witchcraft was being put together up until you got to the flywheel/clutch. Cant wait to see 650 whp, im interested to see how well it does!
650whp will be really stretching it on those tiny turblown studs generally need dowels or 1/2in studs around that power range or above, but I’ve been enjoying your content you put a lot of effort and passion into your builds!
I’ll prob hit it for the dyno but keep it dialed back, I really don’t see a huge need for anything really over 500 on this thing 😅 appreciate it 🥳 wanting this car to be as close to perfect as I can get it 🫡
Oh man how I miss my old FD! I have been watching this build like a hawk and you're doing an amazing job and all the detail you're putting into it is top notch! I was happy to see you posted a video and I watched after I blew up the neighborhood! Have you decided on seats yet or waiting to figure out the car's long term use?
If the manual and guide isn’t confusing plus using this video as a guide it seems this might not be as complicated as I always thought it would be. Although Tanner makes things seem so easy. He also seemed to have learned a tremendous amount from his first time around. Not his first 13b rodeo! 👌🏽
Amazing video as always!! I am eager to see it run and drive!! I think black would be better if you choose to color the tubes. That is a fast motor install!! I hope my 12a goes that smoothly when the time comes 😅
Man I know you have seen my comments before and I know a lot of your followers care about eg swap been here since the beginning of it and had a “built” 16’ Wrx that is the build of your life keep with that fuck this content shit I know I care about that car more then almost most just keep perfecting bro I wanna keep watching
I literally yelled out “noooo” when you didn’t use an alignment tool just because I’m scared the next video will say “ make sure you use an alignment tool”😢😂

Hello yes question! Could you please make a video on how to e-tune? For example… I’m currently tuning my 11 sti with my Cobb AP and I got that whole recording down, but my tuner keeps saying I’m not doing it right and I can’t find a video on how to do it correctly. The instructions he sent are as follows… “When you reach a safe place, do one full throttle pull starting from 2000 rpms in 3rd gear and stop at 6800 rpms and make the shift into 4th but do not keep pulling. “ so what I’ve been doing was just going into 3rd and pressing the pedal to the floor till the engine red lines then I shift. Please help!
Hey did u get rid of the old fan relay wiring? Im currently doing a single turbo build w haltech 1500, and im cleaning up my harness , should i remove the fan wiring , i wont need it right?

The bronze looks wayyy better than I thought it would 🙌🔥
The coating on the rotor housing looks wonderful! It's giving me a bit of M45A1 vibes!
I’m so glad I took the time to coat it all. Came out way better than I was anticipating 😍
The rotary is a blessing and a curse. Your dedication to make things work is astonishing

The black and bronze looks fantastic dude

that powder color looks soooo good.

This is looking so good, love that colour scheme for the engine, mint🤌
I was skeptical of the bronze at first, but so happy I stuck with it 😍
Good video Tanner. Seeing that freshly powder coated turbo hit the ground broke my heart. Looks like it didn't fair too bad though, little ding in it.

I’m going to try that Alex seal trick next time, I haven’t tried glueing them together before. 😅 normally I just fight with em to get them in 😅
@Smeedia I struggle the same way with my very 1st rebuild back in 95. Didn't use vaseline and the corner piece kept popping out.

Seeing the turbo drop in next to the 13b and seeing how close in size it is was hilarious, awesome content as always!!
