    Introduction and Types of Depression
According to the World Health Organisation depression, the “blue plague” is a common emotional illness, the
most common emotional illness, with more than 264 million people affected worldwide. I have noticed over the years that there are different kinds of depression
    such as:
Endogenous, which is largely due to changes in the electrochemical activity of the brain which may have an inherited cause.
Seasonal affective disorder, a kind of depression which can recur each Winter when there is a lack of sunlight, hence the term, “The Winter blues.”
Bi-polar disorder, which can involve mood swings that go from elation to depression. It probably has a biological and genetic root.
Post-natal depression, experienced by 10 to 15% of mothers in the year after giving birth.
Reactive depression, is a mood disorder triggered by a specific event of a stressful nature. This could be anything that changes or threatens to alter a person’s everyday routine or expectations.
