    I don’t know… these LLMs of late seem to be becoming less reliable and less accurate. I’m guessing a lot of places they are scraping data from are starting to resist or demand a significant share of the profits. Also, will Apple start to charge a monthly subscription (priced in US dollars, of course, and even more expensive in the developing world) for using their AI service? It sounds like something they might do.

Running on my ryzen 7800x under windows wsl cost me 4% battery (~2.4 wh). I highly doubt phones has the processing power, battery nor thermal capacity to run good models on a reasonable time.
      Any smaller LLMs will not have the enough weight nor precision to answer well (~ good enough?). More likely option is to run hybrid; llm only when connected to cloud, look-up-table-like when on local.

    Can someine explain what difference it would make to add AI to an iPhone when it already has a Chatgpt app.

    • @joelface
      @joelface 6 дней назад +3

      The difference would be that the AI in an iPhone would be used for all of the different apps on the phone. It would be able to open apps, input directions to apps, etc. Sort of in the way that Siri currently does, but in this case, able to listen to much more complex commands spoken in plain, normal language instead of having to try to word things in a very specific way that it can understand. It might be able to take on multi-step processes, where, for example, maybe it opens google maps, puts in the directions, checks what the traffic will be like, and then tells you what the traffic will be like all without visually opening the app or making you aware of it needing to do that. Just random thoughts.. but there is a LOT of potential with advancing the built in AI in a phone.
