Great to see this interview. Richard looks great. He continues to be a sweetheart, with good nature and good humor in all things. I agree with those who want him to be back on TV or in a movie....we miss him so much!
To those who think "He got fat", remember, not his fault. He had to have a lot of surgery for his health, and needed steroids to recover. That caused the weight gain. He's been dropping back down since the surgery, but probably will never look as thin again.
I knew he had several back surgeries due to his stunt work on MacGyver I think but I didn't realize he had to take steroids. Kind of reminds me of the Foreigner singer Lou Gramm who was pretty thin like Anderson but had brain surgery that required steroids and he gained tons of weight. Both him and RDA have lost lot of weight since their surgeries though. Hopefully we see RDA return to tv soon.
Yeah that makes sense. A few back surgeries which means no real working out (only rehab workouts which are a joke as far as building muscle), and add in steroids which increase appetite that promotes weight gain.

TheRevan1231 I'm somewhat always surprised that everybody kinda wants to stay a foot soldier in SG1 ofc it would be great if it could but during season 8 and after you did see his age becoming more apparent. So the promotion to General wasn't a bad one and the new cast members at the time was a nice change of pace. After Season 7 the show did peak, still very good episodes in 8/9/10 but it did run it's course and still this is my favorite show and there wont be anything like it for a long time. Hopefully he might pop up in Dark matter in the near future.
The promotion on the show was his idea. He wanted to retire to spend more time watching his daughter grow up. So promoting him in the show was a way to see less and less of his character so he could reach his end goal, retirement.
Multi talented Actor and Director. TIMELESS TV Series. Thank you for your legacy . Will be remember for many generations , how many people can achieve those professional goals? Excellent job.
I feel like if RDA were to give me some of his time to listen to his stories, I could sit there all day and soak it in. Such a seemingly normal guy, yet extraordinary actor. Loved SG1. Not only the best Stargate storyline, but some of the best SyFy TV ever.
He's a great actor. Loved him in general hospital, macgyver, and Stargate SG-1. Saw him once for a short while in Buhl, Minnesota at a street dance, when I was 16
Wow, watching this kinda made me feel "old"(and i'm 31). I grew up watching SG-1 and Atlantis, Col/Gen O'Neill felt like a fun, crazy Uncle. Brilliant Interview, David Farrier!
He has a cool and relaxed way about him. Hope he is truly happy with his life. He deserves it. He has made a lot of people happy and made them laugh and smile.
MacGuyger was such an amazing show and a big part of my childhood. Made me want to learn how things work, it was a special time and a very special show.
Met him a years ago at a paid event at a Con. An an absolute sweetheart of gentleman who went out of his way to give a young disabled lass his undivided attention when he realised that some of the very selfish fans were continuously crowding around him, and not giving fair access to anyone else. It was so nice of him, and made her night. It was particularly awesome as she had been quite rudely snubbed earlier by Jason Momoa who was more interested in talking to a group of pretty young things.
He's VERY much interactive with animals! He's one of the major supporters of SEA SHEPHERD...Ocean conservation. Loved him as MacGyver and in Stargate. MacGyver has come back with the same basics as the original show. Glad you're doing good.
Class act !!!!love Richard Dean Anderson ....Macgyver was great so much so his name is an ism in the Dictionary now and of course the best in Stargate !!!
An amazing father, actor and all-around human being, very private and that's understood. Yes, we have all aged in the last 20 years, and Richard is no exception. A great many in and around Knoxville, TN look forward to seeing Richard at the Fanboy Expo | Knoxville, TN | July 12-14, 2019.
He has an eternal sweetness, graciousness, intelligence and dignity . . . Ir was interesting and nice to see him in this interview . . . just to see how he is doing over the years. I think he would be someone who would be very kind and a very good and loyal friend.
I liked Stargate SG-1 more than the MacGyver Thing. Don't get me wrong Richard Dean Anderson is a great actor and can carry his characters in a way you believe he is that character.
RDA is a very good man. still looks the same as the first day i saw him....of course that was when he was a tv DR.?? and later as McGyver. very good house hold name. still love the McGyver and SG1 series. excellent tv show franchises. lol, he has not aged a bit, aside from the grey hair...unless he is using the ''Silver Fox'' hair treatment . i like him like a brother . may he continuously have happiness . awsome vlog !!
I really wish to know this sir in person cause his series made part of my childwod... His series were amazing and I never lose the episodes in Portugal! :D Amazing person!
I'm a fan of Mac Gyver. I wouldn't miss an episode. I was 14 but I prefer watching the show than going out with my siblings or with my Mama or even with my friends during Saturdays. Mac Gyver was aired every Saturday at 7pm in our country.
I agree with Caroline. People need to learn to be careful what they post. MacGyver was one of my favorite television shows throughout the 80's and 90's. Now let's take down ISIS with a paper clips, duct tape, and a cupcake. LOL!!!!

A candle for don Davis. For general hammond.
The promotion on the show was his idea. He wanted to retire to spend more time watching his daughter grow up. So promoting him in the show was a way to see less and less of his character so he could reach his end goal, retirement.
He's so humble about it, even blushes when they get into his humour and Stargate. Glad things went so well for him.
MacDonaldsGyver.
Ben Jamin FatGyver
Larry Lee Moniz MacWider
So much class. A grown-up, I guess.
Do You Even lift?
Goddamit XD
Loved him as Jack O'Neill, one of my favourite tv show characters ever
Holy crap. Richard has not aged well.
+norm welthagen RDA have served the people so much, giving so much enjoyment, let him relax and enjoy life ffs!!
Belnick6666 Somebody needs to relax
+norm welthagen Well, he is 66, cut the guy a little slack. I'm sure most of us will not have aged well once we reach our 60s!
norm welthagen
i think he does
He has an illness that causes him to be overweight so back off!
He has one of those faces where he still looks great fit, old or overweight.
Saw him once for a short while in Buhl, Minnesota at a street dance, when I was 16
Such a great actor, he'll forever be one of my top 10 favourite actors. Would love a chance to meet him in person.
Wow, watching this kinda made me feel "old"(and i'm 31). I grew up watching SG-1 and Atlantis, Col/Gen O'Neill felt like a fun, crazy Uncle.
Brilliant Interview, David Farrier!
My favorite actor of ALL time. Love the one-liners and personality. Can't get any better entertainment.
RDA is one of my favorite actors. We may have different political views but that's what America is about. Good interview.
Great interview! Really interesting. Thank you for sharing with all of us! :)
It was particularly awesome as she had been quite rudely snubbed earlier by Jason Momoa who was more interested in talking to a group of pretty young things.
if i met this man i would have to thank him for every minet that he has put into his acting career.great talent
I love him. I will be saving money and hopefully he does some public appearances so I can meet him. He improved my life. Thank you 😊
An amazing father, actor and all-around human being, very private and that's understood. Yes, we have all aged in the last 20 years, and Richard is no exception. A great many in and around Knoxville, TN look forward to seeing Richard at the Fanboy Expo | Knoxville, TN | July 12-14, 2019.
It hurts see him get older ,because i love him so much .
I'm such a huge Richard Dean Anderson fan and loved him as MacGyver and even more so as Jack O'Neill. Such a funny man a great actor!
What a wonderful guy. This is what he brings to his characters. Thanks Jack
Don't get me wrong Richard Dean Anderson is a great actor and can carry his characters in a way you believe he is that character.
oh man, almost 27 year since i watched McGyver in my country, respect to Richard Dean Anderson who played McGyver so well.

awsome vlog !!
I really wish to know this sir in person cause his series made part of my childwod...
His series were amazing and I never lose the episodes in Portugal! :D
Amazing person!
Great interview David. Keep up the awesome work.
I'm a fan of Mac Gyver. I wouldn't miss an episode.
I was 14 but I prefer watching the show than going out with my siblings or with my Mama or even with my friends during Saturdays. Mac Gyver was aired every Saturday at 7pm in our country.
I met him at the Armageddon Expo - Best hero meet ever. Oppa!
I agree with Caroline. People need to learn to be careful what they post. MacGyver was one of my favorite television shows throughout the 80's and 90's. Now let's take down ISIS with a paper clips, duct tape, and a cupcake. LOL!!!!
