About FNF
Friday Night Funkin' is a rhythm game in which the player must pass multiple "weeks", each usually containing three songs.[note 1] Each week, the player typically faces a different opponent.
During gameplay, the opponent will sing a pattern of notes which the player must mirror by pressing the arrow keys or WASD. At the bottom of the screen is a bar indicating how well the player is doing. The left side of the bar is red, representing the opponent. The right side is green, representing the player. Successfully hitting notes will increase the size of the player's bar, while missing notes causes the opponent's bar to expand. The player fails if the opponent's bar fills up the entire bar.
For each week, the player has the option to select one of three difficulties: Easy, Medium, and Hard. As difficulty increases, the speed of incoming arrows increases and the patterns of arrows become more complicated. The player's high score for each week on each difficulty is tracked and shown in the top corner of the week selection screen.

Another sad thing is that Tails was not in the first game. He first appeared in the second game, so Sonic did not have Tails to help him either.

Yeah, this is in Sonic 1, so before he met Tails in Sonic 2, before he met Amy in Sonic CD...before he met any of the other Sonic cast really. Sonic's friends in Sonic 1 are the small animals that are kidnapped by Robotnik to be made into badniks. Without Sonic to save them, they are stuck like that and no one knows the fate of this unfortunate hedgehog. Drowning internally until some random small animal or mobian comes across him and (without running away in fear from this zombie) carrying something to free him with .
this makes this so much more thoughtful than the original exe. might be weak to say that, but it makes the game feel like sonic 1

I feel so bad for Sink. Having to drown only to come back to life, resulting in an endless loop of pain and suffering until someone can save him. It just terrifies me thinking about being in Sink's shoes and having to feel what he suffers.

I feel like being a sonic fan a better explanation for labrinth could be simpler: labyrinth zone is the fourth zone in sonic 1 and it is infamous for being so hard because of the overwhelming traps and how the water makes sonic slower and obviously drown not to mention how in the 2nd act of the last zone scrap brain eggman sends you back down to a new vercion of labrinth for act 3
Don't forget the air pocket wait time is like 5 seconds, so you would die and air would come out as you died

Fun Fact: Being underwater for the rest of your life is actually more brutal and unhealthy than you'd think.
Notice how when you get out of a pool, your fingers and/or feet are wrinkled? Well, that's actually because your skin is covered in dead Cureton Cells, and they wrinkle because they are being absorbed by fuck tons of water.
Another thing is that you'd barely get any exercise due to how weightless you'd be underwater. And as you know Sonic is known for being very fast, being underwater gives you a much tougher time moving your limbs. That would effect his speed horribly.
Also I think he's starving at the same time due to him being down there for weeks? Years?
not to mention he would quite literally be braindead even if he was saved, because your brain requires oxygen and he isn't getting any; there's a lot of cases of people coming out with brain damage from drowning

Another explanation as to why Sink doesn’t just spin dash out of the chain, in the song, you can hear a sound effect that sounds like a bone shattering, which may be his ankle. (I think the sound effect comes from Casino Night Zone.)
Those sound effects were definitely sampled from casino night zones theme (not the prototype tracks tho)
The sound effect is another spike ball crashing down into the floor
Spin dashing was invented by tails and since sonic hasn’t met him yet that’s not an option

i always thought sinking sonic was based on a glitch where you can die over and over in labyrinth zone without losing your life count, it honestly would seem like it makes more sense that just will to life keeping him alive because you would think he would just want to die after realising his destiny of eternally drowning if he did not decide to just die

I have a theory on how Sonic some how 'survives'. In Sonic 1 their are only six chaos emeralds and Sonic might have collected some of them before coming to the labyrinth zone which could be the reason why he keeps coming back. If you played Sonic 1 and collected all of the chaos emeralds the end screen will show the chaos emeralds cycling in the air before disappearing,
Sonic would look on confused about what happened, showing that he doesn't know how to use the power of the emeralds. In short Sonic's will power combined with the chaos emeralds could be the reason why he keeps coming back.
That's kinda my head-canon! Assuming this Sonic is competent, (Beyond getting trapped in the Labyrinth Zone, that is), he likely has at least 5 Chaos Emeralds by now, and if all 7 can bring someone to life, then a few less should be able to keep you from dying in the first place.
Thats a good theory, tho it would be pretty hard to get all the emeralds before labyrinth zone, since you have exactly 6 chances to get all 6 emeralds before labyrinth zone and if you mess up once it would be done. tho if 6 can keep him alive and as we find out in sonic 2, theres 1 more. so maybe he only needs like 5 or 4 of them to stay alive.

My biggest fear is legit this mod: being in endless pain while nobody can help you.
I guess the lore of this mod (and this is my take) is that when sonic was trying to stop Robotnik he accidentally tripped and fell into the water and got his leg stuck on one of those annoying spike balls in Labyrinth zone as you can hear in the background and Sonic was hit by a few of Robotnik’s Fish Badniks hence why he’s have his eyes and mouth bleeding sonic desperately tries to keep himself alive under the water but something happened when he drowned that brought him back to life in a state of nothing else but pain, suffering, loneliness sort of like a zombie forever in Labyrinth zone

What's with mod creators and given characters the worst fates imaginable? First time I remember they started doing that was the April fools home with Selever and his sister.
Dude after watching the mod, and seeing Sonic suffering like that. It made me realize how afraid I am of deep water. Because I have been in the exact same situation Sonic is in before. Trust me, its was horrendously painful. I could barely breath, and no matter what I tried, I could not get out of the water. The scary part was, I was alone and nobody was around to help me. No but Honestly, I really was in the same situation, with the green water and everything. After watching this, I have officially been diagnosed with "Aquaphobia" Search it up. I think that after seeing Sonic. My feelings of deep bodies of water and drowning have grown immensely powerful. I couldn't even sleep 2 nights ago.

So I basically somehow managed to grab the edge of the pool, but the algae was preventing me from climbing up, so every chance I got, I quickly breathed in some air and went back under. Luckily the lord decided it wasn't my time to die and I managed to mario leap out of the pool

I’d classify an .exe as a file on a pc or a pc rom that has been edited to show most characters in the sonic franchise meeting a horrible fate
This hits so much harder for people like me who have experienced drowning before
I myself had a near death experience with water and this mod reasonates with me so much for that exact reason. I obviously didnt drown for years and dont know what the long term effects of being in salty water for so long would be but it still hits hard.

you failed to mention that since this takes place in Sonic 1 that means both Tails and Knuckles have not met him yet therefore nobody is coming for him as he has no real friends, also his name is not Sink, its just Sonic, the song is called Sink as Sonic is endlessly sinking, never truely dying, always feeling his lungs burning and bursting from both drowning and the pressure

Some people might argue that sonic couldve spin dashed, but it still wouldn’t be possible because he learned the spin dash from tails.
That’s why the spind dash was first shown in the second game.
Edit: the only reason I say this is because in a RUclips video explaining how he got it, it said he got it from tails (if I can find the vid I will link it)

Just want to add a little extra tidbit of info too so If I’m correct sonic in sonic 1 is also around the age of like 12-13 which means a literal young teen or kid is going through all this, which to me is even worse than the normal death stuff. Just the fact that a kid is experiencing any of this just I hate it(however I still love the whole concept of the mod regardless)

There were power ups such as speed and shield but there was invisibility which he could have used to escape but I guess he did not have one at that time

We just gonna ignore the post on twitter from the creator of sink explaining how it originated from a glitch in sonic one, for context the creator played through labyrinth zone got a game over due to drowning, then reset their sega genesis and was presented with sonic's drowning animation playing over and over again on an endless loop with the labyrinth zone theme playing in a lower pitch
That's from the creator of Sink.bin, who did not make the Below the Depths mod and Sink.bin is considered a separate character from the mod's Sink.
Poor sink.. I feel his pain because I always had a panic attack under water when I have trouble swimming up onto the surface
Fun Fact:Alot of people who would count as EXE's aren't evil at all. Examples: Exetior's Tails,Knuckles,Amy,Cream,Sally (Probably robotnik too) And Sark's Amy rose (or rosy) While exetior's crew have killed they still remain in their canon mindsets where they aren't out to kill or harm anyone. Cream even explains to amy that she has to give her a mercy killing and that she promises to make it quick and that she still loves her.
The reason sonic is in a zombiefied state is because he has lives just like in sonic 1 and he’s just died so many times in labyrinth zone but this time this is sonics last live if he dies it’s game over.
Fun fact:he dindt had the spindash,but he had the roll attack since you can see in green hill that there are tunnels and he will be rolling if you go in there. Cool mod and im a big sonic fan

This guy is right about most people watching not knowing about the first game. FNF's community is mostly of kids (unfortunately), so they would not know.
I'm pretty late but to put this short I'd say ironically enough eggman would be the one to save sonic. Being that eggman and sonic kinda have a joker/batman relationship where they need each other, maybe after sonics second death (after a day or something however long it canonically took sonic to get through the events of sonic 1), eggman would get bored or even worried and set out to find sonic.
Or maybe even at the end of the stage he waits too long and backtracks through the stage to finally find the horror that is sonic drowning to death, he frees him has an awkward chat and just skips the fight for that act and moves on. Could be different if it was the robotnik from the comics but either way there's a lot of potential to this creepypasta and I hope to see more on depth stuff about it. Maybe even a lil crossover with the og exe finding him and being like o shi lmao

This actually makes sense, without sonic, eggman is basically nothing. And everyone would assume eggman killed sonic, which is something eggman probably would not wanna be accused of.
From a logical point of view even if nobody ever saves him he would at least have a happy ending if you count his suffering coming to an end.
This is because his body would slowly decay to oversaturation and come to the pressures of the water. Even if the emeralds kept bringing him back he would eventually be reduced to nothing but bones.
So technically he does have a good ending if you count his suffering not being eternal.
Sadly with the lore if you really think about it, even if Sink (sonic) got out, there wouldn't've be much to do, meaning Dr Robotnik took over south island, was able to do his plan without sonic interfering, hence, being able to make his whole eggman world
Another thing that proves this is Labrynth Zone is the beginning of the song, it sounds like the Labrynth Zone theme

Or In the sonic and knuckles game where sonic runs by one of the traps,he gets stuck on a chain and you have to SPINDASH TO GET OUT,sonic can’t spindash at that moment so it’s sad,but now you know sonic can definitely spindash to get out.

Sonic could have cut his leg/foot off with something. like that metal ball has spikes on it. He can just dig it into his leg until it comes off, rise up to the water, and then go get some medical attention for his leg. Though he is in a "zombified state", he probably won't even last long enough to survive back up on the surface, unless his will to live is still going strong by then. He can also use his surroundings, once again, to try and break free. He could even break the chain off with something around him. He can't go up, but he essentially can't die underwater, so he just needs to try and wriggle around till he finds something sharp enough to cut the chain.
You are….completely correct,first thing I would’ve done is found something to break the chain,even though your hits wouldn’t be as effective in water,I’d still try tho,and the cutting his foot off part is genius,way to think my guy!!

And programmer Yuji Naka and artist Naoto Ohshima never thought of the spindash idea.
It originally appeared in 1992, when Sonic 2 was released, and we had a spindash.

this was an underwater mine which "he drowned and sunk to the bottom" so probably the story behind this is the drowning death in sonic games causing sonic to drown and come back to life (probably like tails lol also drowning causes to clip through walls so prolly that)

To add on to the Spindash thing: If it was the REMAKE of Sonic 1 On the Phone/Tablets then Sink WOULD be able to Spindash out of the Chain Ball.
@@hisisters1882 Sonic Origins says Otherwise. BTW, Sonic Origins made the Anniversary Mode Canon instead of the Original. Meaning the Spindash is Canon to Sonic 1.

There’s someone saying the original creator said tails and Amy heard word of “a blue hedgehog who stood up to robotnik” and are investigating it so I really hope this is true because it would be nice to see tails and Amy saving sonic from the aquatic hell and the fact that there could be a good ending. Maybe they will add a noise meter to the mod and if you are loud enough tails and Amy might appear I don’t know if it’s factual but I’ll just pray that it is
