The 17617 / 17618 Tapovan Express is an express train belonging to Indian Railways - South Central Railway zone that runs between Hazur Sahib Nanded & Mumbai in India. In the earlier days Tapovan Express was running between Mumbai & Manmad later it extended up to Nanded.
It operates as train number 17618 from Huzur Sahib Nanded to Mumbai CSMT and as train number 17617 in the reverse direction, serving the state of Maharashtra.
Tapovan (Sanskrit) comes from the two root words tapasya - meaning specifically austerity, and more generally spiritual practice, and vana, meaning forest, or wilderness
Tapovan Express has 2 AC Chair Car, 10 Second Class seating, 3 General Unreserved & 2 SLR (Seating cum Luggage Rake) coaches.
As is customary with most train services in India, coach composition may be amended at the discretion of Indian Railways depending on demand.
The 17618/17617 Tapovan Express runs from Hazur Sahib Nanded via Parbhani Junction, Jalna, Aurangabad, Manmad Junction, Niphad, Nashik Road, Igatpuri, Kalyan Junction, Thane to Mumbai CSMT.
It gets WCAM-3 or WCAM-2 of Kalyan shed from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai till Manmad Junction and Gooty/Moula Ali WDP-4D from Manmad Junction till Hazur Sahib Nanded. But now the route if fully electrified and soon the traction will change to WCAM-2 or WCAM-3 End to End.

yes bro you are very lucky, I was also traveling by Tapovan express on 27/10/23from Nashik Road To H.S NANDED but that day I was traveling by train Gooty wdp4d 40118. Or now that I have seen this video of yours, I am feeling very bad that if I had made a reservation on 28/10/23 then maybe I would have been able to enjoy the chugging of alco locomotive like you, but no one else would have liked it if I had been like you. I am lucky that I also get the pleasure of alco locomotive or the main train does not travel much or I only travel on this route from Nashik to Nanded or Nanded to Nashik, no one cares if I travel with this kind of journey, entertain me, brother, I will also support you, God. bless you😊
