**crosses arms on chest** "Carpool Critics Forever!"
I think the "Test results" Scene, Bond quite clearly knows that he SHOULDN'T have passed as he seemed well aware of his failings during the tests. His entire demeanor changes the moment she says that he passed, he goes from being almost casual to suddenly far more serious, his fidgeting motions stop, his body straightens and then there is even a brief contemplative casting about of his eyes before standing.
Even further when taken with the following question about why he came back.
Honestly Bond came back out of a sense of Loyalty to M, but knows he's not fit to pass the examinations and likely hopes she will say "You failed". The fact that she lies and essentially "passes" him unilaterally herself is just the ultimate indicator of how dire the situation is, that she NEEDS Bond, and his specific skills, even in the state that he is in.
🔥
Casino Royale is the best Bond to me (with the best Bond romance and action scenes), but Skyfall is a close second no doubt
Having already seen dune I can’t wait to see your guy’s video on that next month. Will be fun to see you try and pack the experience this movie is into clear thoughts for a podcast.
IIRC the writers strike was happening around production of Quantum of Solace and they didn’t want to stop production so Craig helped write it.
this was a good bond movie. can't wait for the new one!
I'm really crossing my fingers on the next one. Judging by the media buzz it'll either be amazing or a franchise killer.
Had to stop the show and go watch the movie and now I’m back
I have to agree, Cansino Royal was more a traditional Bond movie when it comes to the action/story, but I too liked how Skyfall brought back the traditional characters as the old ones ultimately bringing it full circle. Btw, I've seen every bond movie ever made, even the one still in the can.. duh, duh, duh. ;O)-
Spectre is my favourite but I love skyfall amazing review guys
"Hey everybody in podcast land-" I did it for you
If you are all ever interested in 'Older' movies...the Rod Steiger / Christopher Plumber film Waterloo...awesome movie that used 16,000 Soviet troops, that had to learn 150yr old tactics, as extras. Dune tie in...produced by Dino De Laurentiis
Where did my carpool critics go?
They updated the name for better SEO.
6.75 for casino royale that is sacrilege
I don't know if this is the proper method of asking for a review but I would be really into seeing what you guys think of the star wars visions series.
'Ray' Fiennes????? you mean Ralph Fiennes lol
The actor's name is pronounced like 'rafe' or 'rayf'. You can watch or read Ralph's interviews regarding his own name, if you don't believe it.
Riley's comment @14:53 has been done! @CorridorCrew made a little short about the evolution of the Bonds
ruclips.net/video/2ooNGLwgdsc/видео.html
Might I push again for Villeneuve's film Incendies? Possibly his best although one of his earlier films
Riley is such a contrarian
Did they change the name from carpool critics?
It sure looks like it.
why does Riley still go watch movies ??
16:20 Barbara Broccoli’s last name is pronounced “bruh-COH-lee”
ya and joe dirt's last name is pronounced deer-tay lol
Just finished watching all the new james bond films for the first time, only because of rami malik in new one
You need to do the Mission Impossible movies.
I'm still not liking the new name... I know you're not carpooling anymore, but that is the origin story of the podcast and it still works. And it is a better name for people randomly browsing podcasts. I'm far more likely to click on Carpool Critics than They're Just Movies. Carpool Critics is just more clickable to me. And I also get a bit of a feeling that the new title is just a way to try to tone down the peaks of David's rants. He rants and then the title reiterates that they're just movies. It's like having 'sorry' locked and ready because you know you're going to do something that warrants it and do it anyways... not a fan of that.
Lmao it does get weird hearing from white people mostly, they keep apologizing, ranting and avoiding conversation
Anyone know this channel excited until calling linus
When you guys gonna review horror movies.... Like an exorcism movie or a poltergeist movie, I have one I would like to recommend
Probably waiting for spooktober
they are just movies
new name, just realized, but I kinda got used to the old one...
Ok wait
6.75 for casino royale
And didn’t like bardem
Why is this creep here?
Best Bond movie of all time
again not a great name ....I prefer the old one
how about movie or cinema or ltt ...critics
I don't known
Don't make James Bond a woman, make a proper role for a woman.
Don't be stupid.
Just get your kids used to it.
I think 007/Bond should always should be a man. there are certain roles where gender bending it or making it a woman makes more sense or works, but 007/bond is a male character and should remain so. I think also making it a woman would be a disservice to putting women in leading roles or this type of role because it would feel shoehorned or ham-fisted or "Woke" so that it feels like it was only done to be with the times instead of the actress actually deserving it or making it work in the story.
I would love for them to expand on the double-0 myth and there we can perhaps get badass women agents
second comment ???
first actually
Bad name change, horrible set.
The new set is awesome!!
I would like to think carpool critics could be made into a timelapse of David turning into hugh jackman
Who are these "Carpool Critics" you talk of?
Sounds like a cool name, I should check them out
@@toaster_bloke9999 you META mess of things
Woohoo! I've been waiting for the Arrival episode! I figured it might come with the Dune release. Can't wait!
Nope this film overly crowbarred unnecessarily melodramaticism into Bond and it ruined this era of Bond. Having Adele provide a similarly pompous, overwrought theme song is, if anything, appropriate. Casino Royale is where it ends IMHO.
I like this more gritty Bond. It shows that he can bleed, but it doesn't go all the way to the point where he breaks down and cries because he shot a nameless bad guy whose parents will now have to bury their son, or whose children now lost a father. And thankfully he's still permitted to be a womanizer, as he should be.
This was the 50th anniversary of bond movie and it really felt like it, bringing back the old car and theme, classic characters like money penny and doing some changing of the guard stuff. I think the nostalgia celebratory facet of the 50th made the story worse
You're going to be hard pressed to find an action movie without an army of henchmen willing to die and kill for their master, and a hero who cuts them down with little-to-no remorse. Spectacle is typically the main draw of those movies, with story playing a secondary role and heavy, emotional subjects almost always ignored or brushed aside with a 5 second conversation before the killing resumes as if it never took place. The new Bond movies come a lot closer to dealing with humanizing emotions and grittiness than the old ones, but at the end of the day, they're still Bond movies, and Bond wouldn't be Bond if he succumbed irrevocably to the psychological trauma of his job, or if the enemies begged and cried for their lives, speaking the names of their parents, children, friends or lovers before he took their lives. I would love to see an action movie diving deeper into stuff like this, but I find that Bond movies have a particular style that excludes heavier themes like these. If you really look into it, Bond is not a "nice" guy. He's always drinking, he treats women like things to fuck, then throws them away, and he kills people because someone tells him to or because they get in the way of the target. He's a trained assassin, not a caretaker.
Also the Bond car reveal was definitely expected, but it was great regardless. It didn't cost them anything to use that specific car over any other, and I personally loved it.
The comment about Riley's kid with Ad Astra is hilarious to me. I really liked it, but it took me to my third viewing in the theatre to not fall asleep. There were extenuating circumstances but still, it's a great movie to fall asleep to lol
Ad astra is beautiful
ad astra sucked. it felt like it wanted to be the martian/interstellar but it sucked
@@sams-pg7hj It definitely wasn't great, but there were some pretty cool aspects imo, especially aesthetically. I mostly just enjoy the vibe of the movie
I was also really put off by the end where they got accelerated by the explosion in space which is impossible, since explosions need matter to have their waves or forces travel, that wouldn't work in space
I remember this came out just after Assassins Creed Revelations, and commenting during the Istanbul roof-top chase at the start ... "Hey, I've been up there!!" - LOL
It's not the same car as the one in Casino Royale - that one is left hand drive and this one is right hand drive ;) (although in universe they are probably meant to be the same)
The James Bond barrel situation is definitely the barrel of the enemy that’s about to shoot bond and James gets the shot off first and kills them which is why the blood falls on the screen side, or at least in the newer DC movies. Haven’t watched the older ones to verify this theory.
is it me or did you skip quantum of solace?
why did they change the name of the channel?
Best Bond movie is Casino Royale.
Awesome... Arrival is my all-time favorite movie, and right on my birthday 🤩
The hosts of the old podcast "Carpool Critics" are so much better than these news guys. Bring back the van jingle. More jingles. Only jingles. JINGLE MOTHER FUCKERS, JINGLE.
the new 007 agent has permanent camouflage
Yo when you guys going to review Mad Max Fury Road 2015?
This fever dream of a movie is epic, saw it last month on my projector....
I honestly want them to just review older movies not new stuff it just seems "easy" clickbait for them
Nice to see them tie in Sean Connery and the Scottish origin of Bond himself with Skyfall being his family home in Scotland itself...
They tried to get Connery to play the Albert Finney role but he wouldnt do it. The idea was that the ‘Bond’ title was passed down the generations. Wouldve been super cool
@@theotherLewbowski I don't think that would make sense
The moniker of bond was originally meant to be passed through the generations. Ur right it would have been a bit iffy but still cool if the couldve scripted it right. I think it was meant to be a ‘passing of the torch’ type thing.
Wait, the channel changed names? Huh.
When i first saw this movie i thought they kept referring to m as mom
Please do VHS/94 when it premieres on Oct 6th
u guys are just copying carpool critics at this point 😝
It was too home alone at the end... Ruined the film for me
This has one of my favorite bond themes.
Are you guys thinking of covering The Last Duel?
not in particular but never say never
Tell Riley to go watch Dr. No. Then he might get bond. It has to be Connery Bond tho
It feels odd to have someone criticizing a callback to the older Bond movies when they haven't watched them lol.
I wonder if "enhanced" means he was stoned or drunk.
enhanced means stoned I'm pretty sure. He's spoken about weed / shrooms on the show before
you guys should do an Austin Powers episode, with remarks to bond references. When Riley commented on the disposable bad guys I remembered the scene with Henchman family reacting to him being ran over by a steamroller
from a purely action spy movie perspective the last 3 mission impossible are better than the last few Bond. They aren't that story driven or deep but there are like 4 action scenes in fallout out of which anyone of them would have been the best thing in Spectre.
Arrival is that special sci-fi where the hero is not a soldier, a medical doctor, or a scientist, she's an effing linguist. That's badass
Every Bond movie makes me think of that “That point in a Christopher Nolan movie where you stop trying to keep up with the plot” RUclips video
What happend to car pool critics?
Is David a french guy from Quebec? OMG I just realized it
I really hope Linus lets you guys make video essays
I'm still gonna call you the car pool critics
this episode came with a no time to die add before it for me^^
Adam Driver would be the best new Bond in my opinion
how bizzare
Love the lighting.
What I liked best on skyfall is the colors
Horrible name change
All James Bond needs is a gun a walkie talkie.
I’m just happy to be here
2 comment?
Bond is the last 'big budget' that doesn't use special effects...I believe.. All stunts must be done by real stunt people like a tradition.
Nah that was true until this movie unfortunately.
11:10 LOL..So, i of these 3 doesn't know Bond (only seen 2), and the other just doesn't like bond.. Review over. Oh and watch Dr. No. That's just a classic
First time watching the video part and I’m glad I always listen to the podcast. The set is horrible.
I tried to watch Quantum of Solace again recently and I almost got motion sick from the amount of jump cuts and shaky camera during action scenes. That was a horrible trend that I'm overjoyed we've moved away from.
1:11:30 A female James Bond feels wrong, while a female 007 to whom the torch was passed feels right.
Can someone point me to the video where they talked about the reason for the name change?
